I really miss my white 1993 Audi 90 with the 2.8L V6. Locking rear differential and torsen center diff. I moved up to my now daily driver a 1993 4.2L V8 predecessor of the A8, it's kind of annoying going from waste spark coil packs on the V6 to 2 distributors on the V8, one on each cylinder head. Keep these uploads going you have definitely found your niche Dangermuffin!

I had a new Audi 80 turboD in 1990, in 3 years I took it to 180,000mls never once did it let me down, put it through the auctions and still got £4000 for it.

In 1990, I purchased a 1988 Audi 80 with 19k miles on it. At 22 yo, this was my first car that i purchased on my own and I loved it. Unfortunately it wasn’t always very reliable and was basically a money pit, but it was fun to drive. After 5 years of ownership, it overheated as I drove on to the dealers lot to trade it in on a new VW Jetta VR6.

My first car was an Audi 80 second hand but it never gave issues and evetime it was serviced I was told it needed very little doing to it. I kept it for years even when I got new vehicles.

These were the days before Audi became trendy and were seen as "left-field" like such brands as SAAB and Volvo hence why they were probably so cheap used.

Audi was trendy back then and was seen as a solid more luxurious car. They were not cheap second hand by any account.

The 80 was such a solid choice, I'm surprised they weren't more popular, even the feel of the window switches etc were superior to BMW at the time. Maybe it was the engines the 4 cylinder ones were a bit weak even compared to 8 valve BMW's but positively spritely compared to a 190e or a c180 etc, nice cars

I worked at certain hospitals and medical centres where the staff car parks were full of them. The most common were either BMW or Audi with the odd mercedes thrown in. I remember talking to an older doctor who told me that the car park used to be dominated by Jaguar and Rover.

£3000 adjusted for inflation is about £6000 now. A 6 year old A4 now is about £15,000!

Yeah the used car market is really strange nowadays. One might think with rising gas prices the cars get sold cheaper, but the opposite is true at the moment.

There’s just something about the 80 that makes me love it. I’ll just say it’s very characteristic.

I use to have an audi 80 b3 petrol 1.6 lt. I bought it used with 160000 kilometers and it was daily family car for more than ten years. I sell it five years ago with 550000 original engine without any rebuild and after me another two person still use it. Now is for sale again for 400€. Very good and very reliable car

audi 80 is in my opinion, the most surprising car to enter 2000s "tuning" car community.. i saw people modified the hell out of Audi 80. and tortured the engine by revving them hard and make them do burnouts, well i guess this is the consequences of giving a car such cheap price tag.

Love my 1991 Audi 90 20v. Over 200,000 miles, still smooth and fast, sounds great, solid build, pure, clean design and a pleasure to drive. Got some videos of it on my channel.

One of the rust resilient cars ever build. We in Germany used them to drive in salty winters to safe our mercedes...Really got metall with thick zink coating!

Mine is a pearl white 1.8e quattro, no power steering but have the parts to fit. Also a 1.8t 20v from an a4 that hopefully should double the bhp

Sure Audi was a cheaper choice than BMW but it would also last longer and go up in value

Had one on an 88 E plate, steering was as heavy as hell as no PAS but it was as reliable as hell, solid, handled well. Bomb proof. I got it in 2000 and kept it till 2002 when I went back down under. Gave it a friend and she had it nearly three years and it only died when some moron ran in to her. Back when Audi’s were proper cars and not photocopier salesmen’s cars they are today.

The piston rings start to loose form after 25 years and the engine starts to burn oil. Refilling one liter oil per 1000km is than normal.

No joke, purchased my 1.8 S in 1989, since (315'km=195'mls) I had only 1 breakdown ( wheel joint, always control the cuffs).
