We had this 2016 Audi A4 visit one of our MotoFyx car repair workshop for an annual service along with a concern relating that of the suspension system of the car. Overtime, the overall driving comfort had deteriorated, especially along uneven road surfaces and hence the car owner reached out to us for assistance.
Upon a detailed inspection of the car by our expert technicians, the front and rear shock absorbers were observed to have significantly worn out, requiring immediate replacement. Further, the front upper & lower control arms become weak, needing replacement.
*What are shock absorbers?
- Shock absorbers are designed to absorb or dampen the compression and rebound of the springs and suspension
- They control the unwanted and excess spring motion, while keeping the car tyres in contact with the road at all times
*Symptoms of weak shock absorbers:
- Excessive bouncing, swerving & diving
- Uneven tyre wear
- Vibrations from the steering
- Leakage in the shock absorber
*Consequence of driving with weak shock absorbers:
- Instability while driving
- Swerving
- Uneven wear of tyres
- Unpleasant clunking / squeaking noise
*Solution:
- The front and rear shock absorbers,kit & mountings were replaced.
- Front lower & upper control arms were replaced
- Front & rear brake rotors surface levelled & brake pads were replaced
- Wheel alignment along with annual service was performed.
