Dude. You are a lifesaver. My wife’s Audi had the same issue.. I’d been putting it off for about 3 months now. After I watched your vid about 5 times, I took the plunge. Worked BEAUTIFULLY.. thank you
Very helpful video, took me a while to find the broken wire. The wire had become very brittle and had completely snapped I'm guessing this is quite a common problem with the wires aging and constantly moving with screen.
I followed this video a few years back, It worked perfectly. This week it happened again with another part of the wire. I tried this video again and it worked again, except, this time when I turned my car back on the ac didn’t work. The ac center vent got plugged back in like normal and now my ac is blowing really hot. Did anyone else experience this?
I know this an old question but as nobody answered it I thought I'd chip in! The MMI screen cannot be coded by VCDS (or any OBD2 diagnostic tool) to stay out permanently. The only way you can do this is by removing the screen housing with the screen out (ignition on) and removing the small black connector in the back that powers the little motor which operates the screen movements. Simply put it back together and the screen will always stay out. There is a very good vid detailing the process here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0CPT72FqNEo.html Credits for the above video naturally go to its' uploader/creator.
My issue is that screen works as it comes out, horizontal position, and then once it start pivoting (going vertical) screen goes black!? Is this the same problem?
