Listen you USA folks. You have to go 3.0 TDi for better performance + economy. I'm puzzled why the USA, with the long distances you have, hasn't yet made TDi cars far more available. Look at these stats comparing the A4 Allroad 2.0 TFSi and the A4 Allroad 3.0 TDi. (l/100 km) (US mpg) 7.2 / 4.9 / 5.8 / (32.7 / 48.0 / 40.6) urban/extra-urban/combined For the USA, clearly the 3.0 TDi makes far better sense. The fuel range is far better than the petrol car, without compromising performance. So USA, get with it, wise up!
Dear Emme - the "push the pedal and nothing happens" is not turbo lag on this car. It is the way that audi has modified the throttle response and the fuel/ignition map of it. It can be changed, "chipped", but it is not the segment or the car that would need that. It is suppose to be softer and mellow in the middle. Put a normal a4 avant next to it and the gearbox into sport mode - it´ll feel like a sportscar. + do not forget the DSG gearbox is learning all the time!
Audi does offer steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for the allroad through a sports interior pakage. Just because it is not on your tester doesn't mean they don't exist.
Emme - Some minor corrections for you. Yes the Audi control dial is VERY slow for entering in nav details. Try pressing the voice command and saying "Enter Destination" it is MUCH MUCH quicker. Secondly the "Turbo" lag you describe is NOT actually turbo lag. IT IS the function of the DSG gear box in Economy Mode. Switch the Gear Box to Sport and try that test again ;-) You'll be VERY surprised. I should know. I own 3 audi's :) Know them back to front :)
If you want specs and track test results, you can just watch motortrend or insideline or whatever. I like this channel the way it is because it's laid back and has personality.
irrespective of whether its DSG or Triptronic.. audi all tune their gear boxes the same way.. in standard drive mode.. it is a slug and tuned specifically for economy... hence the "laggy" throttle response. Its the nature of Audi cars. You need to dump it in S mode to make it responsive to throttle inputs
She does that with every car she reviews, it just gives you a good idea of how much cargo capacity the car has, not necessarily because your actually going to have laundry baskets in your car.
That's not turbo lag! Its a way Audi sets the throttle response and it can be changed In the vehicle settings. The inline four in that car is one of the best engines ever
When I was building this car online i noticed that they did not have a Bose surround sound option but, weirdly they only had a Bang and Olufsen sound system. Has Bose just given up????? I mean Bang and Olufsen sound systems sound great!!!!! But, Bose does a great job too???? Tell me what you think!
Emme - Thanks for mentioning us! Love the car, but sadly it will be too small for us. Bummed it isn't a proper manual transmission, but the Audi is meant to be driven. Agree with you on the turbo lag. I've got a 2000 A4 T & it isn't as crisp as I would like even with a stick. Cheers. PS - I'd drive it on dirt roads. Quiestion! Why do people in the States insist on having allround tires? Is it like this everywhere in America, or is it just in the south, sunny parts? :) Why not buy a set of summer tires and change to winter tires in the winter like in Europe (Well, Northern Europe at least)?

You should watch Komo 4 news in Seattle, they cant even get the graphics right behind the anchorman thats related to the story there reading. Not to mention they can't spell when they have to actually show text on the screen.

I would still buy the Audi A3 or Q5 over the all road plus if I drive something Deutsch I must have a manual, but I love the styling! Hey Emme can I help review cars?
I love these. the Allroad, XC70, and Sabrau Outbacks. They're like super manly station wgons. if the BMW X3 was more like this, or the Merc GLK... I'd buy one.
No DSG in this Allroad, I know, because I own this car... and there's turbo lag even on the so called Sport Mode, try driving one for a week and you should know.
4:40 to 4:56. She hasn't got a clue what turbo lag is, yet she calls herself an enthusiast. The issue she mentioned has nothing to do with turbo lag, it's the peddle being unresponsive. Turbo lag occurs when you press the gas peddle and the car does start to speed up, but there is a delay of a noticeable portion of the total power from the engine.

Who they hell would want an Allroad with summer tires? And why don't the tires have real sidewalls? 60-series would be more appropriate. The problem with the original Allroad was its poor reliability. None of those systems you talked about that were in the old one actually worked anyway, which is the real reason they were left out. At least you could get a manual transmission and a third seat back then.
Its because Audi is a luxury brand...and this car being that much doesn't suprise me...there is even wifi in the car. How much did you think this was going to cost
I do agree the back is better but I hate the side view of the Audi. Too station wagon for me. Yes, I know its a wagon. My moms outback looks better from the side in my opinion. She was going to buy a Q5 but the she fell in love with the Outback.
heck yeah, they have always driven better than all the other "non R" Volvos even if it had the same engine, very good chassis is key. 2013 with the T6 is a beast machine. Puts the power down perfect and hella capable off road. BUT the old school C5 Audi Allroad was a monster also. This A4 thing is a toy that is offered with summer tires...lame.
