In this video I am changing the oil on this 2015 Audi Q5 with the 2.0L engine and I will go through both the fluid extractor method and the traditional drain and fill method. Applies to 2009 - 2017 Audi Q5.
If you have a newer car where the oil filter is located on top of the engine then you never have to go underneath your car in order to change the oil. All you need is an oil extractor which pumps the oil out through the dipstick tube. The fluid extractor works not only on oil but can be used to pump out other fluids such as transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant, and power steering fluid.
Parts & Cost Breakdown
--------------------------------------------
Oil Filter - Wix 57561 (or equivalent) = $19.99 - amzn.to/40hN4ZB
Oil - Liqui Moly High Tech 5W-40 (5L)= $43.79 - amzn.to/3X3vAO5
Oil Filter Socket (if needed) = $10.99 - amzn.to/3HHfncN
Fluid Extractor - EWK (15L) = $129.99 - amzn.to/3Y2V5j6
Fluid Extractor - EWK (6.5) = $69.99 - amzn.to/3JyO4CC

I'm going to do the same. I can't see how you can go wrong, just check and check oil level

I was able to extract only 2L of oil through dipstick tube before it stops. Can't get more than that. Tried to push deeper but nothing is coming out.

Hi there. Thank you very much for posting this video! I have a 2014 Q5 2.0T and always wondered if there is still oil left in the pan. Your video just proved it. It would be great if you can post how to drain/refill the transmission fluid or post a link. Just ordered the same extractor as yours. Take care. New sub here.

Hey nice video and thank you for posting. Just brought a four uncles one and plan on using it soon. Your video answers a lot of my questions about this procedure. Also how often do you change your oil now since your car is pass 100k miles like mine? I usually do around 7.5k miles.

With synthetic oil, I’m always changing at or around 5k on our Audi Q5.

Great video, thank you. Where can my get rid of the oil that was extracted?

Most auto parts stores take used oil. Many cities have recycling centers that take used automotive fluid free of charge.

This video is so helpful. I will be buying a fluid extractor so I can start doing my own oil changes on my Audi. What size is the fluid extractor your using in the video?

It's much quicker with compressor IF you have a powerful compressor

My car still shows service due sign even after I reset the oil interval, what else do I need to do to clear the warning sign?
@happywrenching
@happywrenching 10 месяцев назад
As far as I know, the service due message can only be cleared using a scan tool. Oil interval and service interval are two different things.

I think it’s just complicated and not easiest than a regular oil change drain it from underneath the engine…
@happywrenching
@happywrenching Год назад
Let's see, you don't need to remove the belly pan. No need to remove the drain plug and drain the oil and potentially risk stripping the drain plug. No need to crawl underneath the car. I can do this oil change in under 15 minutes. There is no question that using an extractor is easier and less messy.

So I used a 15L extractor in the video and I think that's too big for most users. You should be fine with a 6.5L and I have added two links in the video description with both sizes.

How is the extractor working out for you? How many miles on the Audi? What year? Any issues? Thank you.
@happywrenching

No issues with the extractor and I’ve used it to extract oil, coolant and gasoline. It just makes things so much easier especially if you have a car where the oil filter is on top of the engine. 112,000 miles in the Audi and its a 2015.

@@happywrenching Thank you. I bought a 2022 Audi Q5 brand new, do you find your Q5 to be reliable? Came from Toyota/Lexus all my life so I hope my Audi will give me the same reliability. Any tips of maintenance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again!
@happywrenching

@@jimmydoan007 Sadly, Audi is just not on the same level of reliability as Toyota/Lexus. Right now, 2013 - 2017 Q5s seem to be the most reliable and our 2015 has been doing pretty good. Bought with 86k on the odometer and now with 112k it hasn't had any major problems. There aren't any secrets to maintenance - keep up with frequent synthetic oil changes and change the coolant and transmission fluid when required. When the car is cold, drive it gently for the first 5 - 10 minutes and let everything get up to normal operating temps. Always store in garage when not in use.

Do you ever need to change the drain plug at all if you're changing oil by extraction?
@happywrenching
@happywrenching Год назад
No, you do not ever have to touch the drain plug if you are using an extractor.
