We all need to write to Audi about this issue so they can creat a recall ticket. The video is helpful (Thank You) but we need a complete solution. If we come together and all write formal letters discribing the same issue, "Hopefully" Audi will take responsibility and help the Q7 owner with the MMI problem.
Its an old issue. Q5s too; and on the S series. The audi MMI system seems to have a very non negligible fail rate. It’d be one thing if it were just isolated audio module and not so integral to other functions like everything accessible via vehicle info
Thank you so much. This just happened to my Q7 and it's at Audi and we just change the drains and everything. They never thought that this could've been an issue. I'm already into this diagnosis for $1000. The absolute ridiculousness they should've known when I took it back in and the radio wasn't working.
You are an amazing guy, this has been so helpful for me. I am an Audi lover but this water issue is unacceptable for all the money being spent for their vehicles. Again THANK YOU!!!
Hey man thanks for the video, I searched for almost a year to fix this problem and everyone told that it was another problem and that had to by all the modules in the trunk to fix it ( a lot of money) 💵😣 today I tried this optical bypass and it worked. Now I know that a "just" need an Amp. You help me a lot man, thank you. Cheers
@@montanodanny no, because the bypass it's "tricking" the car to think that the Amp it's working. Once you buy another amp or fix yours and plug it to the car you don't need the bypass anymore. Did helped?
I see now in a convo, code the amp to the car in an audi garage, it seems on normal audio i get driver speaker, on sirround i get the whole left side, just bought it, maybe it was replaced and not coded? Thx for vid
Very nice video and nice job. Please can you show me the part number or description to find the plug in Amason. The water can come from the ruffing or glass in the ruffing because the houses of evacuation are blocked.
Hey buddy, I have a bit similar issue but in my Audi A6 3.0 TDi Quattro , the MMI monitor shows white light only when started however radio etc and other functions works fine. Could you pls give me an hint on the fix
You probably don't want to cover the amplifier like that; it is an unoptimal solution. Firstly, there is a fan in the amplifier for cooling, so you don't want to block that, else it will overheat and could die quickly. Secondly, covering it is only going to result in the water dripping down into further electronics such as the fuse box anyway, so once again it is not an optimal solution. It is best to fix the source of the leak instead. On one Q7 I've seen, the leak was caused by a damaged tube for the rear windshield washer, so that should be one of the first few easy things to check when looking for leaks. Btw, your English is quite decent for a non-native speaker. Keep it up!
Iam also having the same issue. The left side speakers are the only one giving out sound. What kind of programming did the dealership do to your amplifier?
Hello Brother, Thank you for the video, it was very helpful. so now i installed the new-used amplifier and installed it on my q7 2010 car. the mmi and radio are working. however, the only front left driver's front speaker is working. what shall i do next? can you help please? Thank you.
just wondering if you had a issue with the ac-heat blower not working along with this amp issue. I am having same issue, I replaced console circuit board and still no mmi. I have the Fiber optic loop on order to check the amp. Not getting any air out of dash vents, some air is coming out of the top vents up high on the dash below the windshield. did your dash vents quit when the Amp went out?? Is somehow the Ac/heat vent connected to the Fiber optic loop?
@@j.a.c.p5574 I perhaps have two problems at one time. noticed Ac blower squealing at start up- then it calms down, some air is moving out of upper vents. I have purchased a new Ac-fan blower and it is on Hand but I have not tried it yet. There are so many things to try. But Issue with MMI is still my Main Issue. Once I get the Fiber optic Loop from Amazon I am going to try Loop. Fuses have been checked. Husband did tell me that he left the roof open a little and vehicle got wet, also the drain was plugged with tree sap and debri at same time. not good. thank you for advice! I like your video
@@emelexista86 Yes! I fixed car. Car I am working on Audi Q7 2008. Amazingly now I know how to take the whole car apart in and put it back together in 1 hour 15 min.. I purchased tool bag and supplied it with just the tools to fix this car. I recommend everyone to purchase a dental tool for your repair kit(buy on Amazon), as I used it to remove small "click on parts". Like inside the back panel in order to unclick the service light harness you need a small pick. I removed console between the front seats and used the small dental pick around the chrome trim. I replace Circuit board and console trim. The big Issue the MMI did not come on, It was the Satelite xm radio. You must get a Fiber optic loop and start in the back of the car. Test the Bose amp first, you can not get to the screw way back behind the Bose amp behind the right corner. Just remove the 2 screws on the left side of the Bose Amp & then pull-swing the Amp out towards you. the right screw in Back will swing like on a pivot. you can reach behind the Bose Amp for testing it without taking out the right side screw in the back. My Amp was fine. Next I try the Sirius XM radio. this was the culprit. I believe it went out just to Age. My A/C fan blower seemed not to work well before this process- but with all the Lights out on the MMI I can say that I thought the AC/Fan was bad. It was squeeling at start up, so I replaced the AC/Fan Blower Motor the next week after I got MMI going. AC fan is perfect, I replace Cabin filter under the dash too. It was fairly dirty. I don't think I had any water leaks, or sun roof leaks. I have a Fiber optic loop in the place of where the XM sirius radio gets attached, so I am only able to get regular FM radio. It is ok to just leave it like this. I have Full MMI. But I did purchase a used Sirius XM radio that I will try to put back in, just have not got this far yet. I can not reach the screw to remove the Full Bracket that the Amp is on, the seat belt hardware is blocking my reach way above the Bose Amp. I must pull Full Metal shelf that the Amp sits on in able to get to my satelite Radio. The Satelite Radio is Under the AMP and is not reachable for changing out unless you Remove Amp and the Full Metal shelf it is on. so I maybe stuck just letting this one ride.
@@barbaralightfoot6479 It seems that my car has the same as yours, but the water leak from the sunroof damaged all the modules in the back so I replaced all with used ones and the cd changer was also burned so after replacing it everything works. I also had a problem with the AC but it was fixed by changing AC/Fan Blower Motor. I had problems with the rear lights but I fixed thanks to the University of RU-vid lol (Sun roof leak can be very bad)
how did you solve the problem about the speakers? because after your work only front and rear left speakers work, how did you update and made them work again? (by the way, I have the same problem) only the front and rear left speakers work dont know what to do.
another question with MMi not working In 2008 Audi Q7. with the CD changer I was able to eject 6 CD that were stuck into CD Player when the MMI turn off. the Lights on The CD player & eject works, no lights on the Console around the buttons, (console circuit replaced- still no lights on console). question is; with the CD player- as long as the eject works- does this mean that the Player is A-OK? Should I skip checking the CD player and move right to the back to check Amp & sirus xm
@@j.a.c.p5574 I did my fiber optic loop to Amp and was OK. My issue was the Sirus Radio console. I am happy to have found the issue. I bypassed the Sirus for now and going to try to replace with used one of like kind. I have Sound & regular FM radio so happy to have MMI back On, and finally able to reset tire pressure lite, and also I learn I can avoid the big cost at dealer to do much on my own
also when speaking to audi dealer they give you run around about maybe a scanner might find the issue, and then we charge you for physical labor just to keep checking all the way through your car. I can now tear down panel, unscrew , do loop and rebuilt wall panel and I did in 1 hour and 5 minutes. :)
J.A.C.P Lol I'm not sure if the amp is broke or not just stuck on mute I've been told to try plug in & out might fix sorry I'm very new to this side of things I have found male & female of the loop adaptor on eBay for £8 so just gonna buy it encase wanted to see my options thanks for the help liked & followed 👍 take care
With me happened something like this but i have the sound and disappeared the other options the car setup don’t show the air suspension the camera is disappearing only sound and navi what to do 😐😐😐😐
I have the same problem, I don't have an option for air suspension in the menu and it doesn't show the reversing camera🤔Does anyone know what the problem is? Thx
How does each one of these videos have 30k views?! Is this problem really that prevalent? Thank you for the fix; got my optical loop, going to try this next.
I made this Video cause i didnt find any answer in the Internet, to find the problem and to fix it was hard...cause if u dont know the problem it could be anywhere!
You didnt mentioned if amp is comletely burned due water ingress. If you replaced it with another amp need to remove component protection. And you cant do it by yourself.
I mentioned the problem that i had, not what could have been...my amp Was damaged cause of water ingress from roof. I replaced the amp and it worked. So dont understand whats ur problem...
@@j.a.c.p5574 just noticed about cp need to be removed after amp replace. No offence) I am specialist in Audi multimedia repair, also protection removal. Yea it is common problem with avant models.
