If its a S-line exterior model you get stiffer suspension. That was also so for the pre-facelift models. I got a s-line and comparing it with non s-line cars that I have been lent from the dealer when on service, the difference is very noticeable. I prefer the stiffer tbh.
@evkx
@evkx Год назад
IF you dont have the seat belt on it need to dissengage the parking brake. If you have seat belt on it goes automatic. And for the suspension your old car did not have Adaptive Air Suspension Sport. This does since it is an s-line

You said everything I was going to say... I think kris does a decent job but he does let his reviews down at times by not researching the things he's critical of to check it's not something he's doing wrong like in this case.

@@gdog6226 Thanks, I was going to comment further on other assumptions, inconsistencies or falsehoods but it gets a bit boring correcting so called "expert" views. I've had an etron for 53,000 miles and think i know it quite well. Placed an order for the Q8 based on my experience of my current 55 and would never really place any emphasis on a RU-vidrs view when compared with my own practical experience of the car
@lmjabreu

@@philhartley7551 this. I was struggling to decide between the Model Y and Q8 e-tron. Based on RU-vid, the Model Y was the winner hands-down, then I test-drove one and every issue RU-vidrs gloss over hit me like a freight train: how bad the ride is, the one-pedal driving, the front blind spot and lack of ultrasonic sensors, ghost braking and ghost proximity warnings, rattling and engine whine inside the cabin, looking down to check the speed and how unsafe that is at ~70mph, how cumbersome having the gear stick behind the wheel is, etc etc. RU-vid people who do it for a living end up favouring shallow hyperbole over reliability of the info they're spouting out, gone off MKBHD because of that, RSymmons, even Bjorn Nyland has his low moments but he's one of the best, still fairly grounded.

Thanks for another good review Kris. I took delivery of a Q8 e tron 10 days ago. I agree with your observations about suspension and handling. One thing i would add is that the 'regen' or 'recuperation' you get from the paddles is a bit stronger on the Q8 than on the old e tron. I am happy with that, since i drive in 'one pedal lite' mode on my drives. I set the recuperation mode to 'manual' and flip the left paddle twice at the beginning of a drive, and it constantly has regen available during the drive. no need to touch the paddles again during that drive.

@BillB33525 Год назад
I have the Q8 and do not have the issue with the parking brake, however, I never manually set the parking brake either. There is a short cut for the SoC graph. I like the firmer ride. Love the additional range of the bigger battery.

My 55 doesn't have the parking brake issue either, I think it is a problem with the press car
@lmjabreu

@@philhartley7551 Same here, no issue, someone else pointed out it's because he doesn't have his seatbelt on. And if you own an e-tron, you know it doesn't like when people don't have their seatbelts on 😉🔉

It feels much sportier thanks to the suspension change, which in turn makes the chassis a bit stiffer and therefore doesn't feel as soft anymore. You can't have both working 100%. I think the change is better this way, giving your very heavy vehicle better handling.

The Q8 etron checks so many boxes for me. But the lack of creep + free rolling is a deal breaker. I test drove an etron last year and that drove me nuts. And it’s the type of thing that I’d deal with every day just trying to ease into parking spaces. I really don’t understand abs Audi was thinking or why even after 4 years they persist (and only on this model!)

Euro version of Q6 will be smaller than that Q8. The Chinese version of the Q6 is bigger, but it is not the same car that is sold here in Europe (and maybe in the US market also). Euro version Q6 is roughly 4700 mm in length, while Q8 is 4900 and Q4 is about 4500.

I have this car on my shortlist with like 10-15 iterations through configurator and I think that stiffer suspension could be due the Sline packet which has sport air suspension where “Advanced” packet (I am from Czechia), will have just regular air suspension so maybe it will be softer? And about Q6 I think Q6 would be smaller car than this in terms of trunk capacity and cabin space, i.e. smaller in general, so I do not think Q6 is like electric version of Q7. Even though I am pumped about new infotainment in Q6 I will probably choose Q8 etron for just more space for our family of 4.

Funny thing is kris you put the handbrake on then put your belt on and don't disengage the handbrake but it pulls away 🤔 did it not occur to you that it's a safety feature that your seat belt has to be on for the handbrake to automatically disengage like in most cars.

@KrisRifa
@KrisRifa Год назад
I doubt that, Especially since Q5 E-Tron. (only sold in Asia atm) is only 3,9 cm shorter than Q8 E-Tron. Q8 E-Tron is to Q8 E-Tron what Q8 is to Q7, a smaller and more sporty version.

@@electrichasgoneaudi Q6 (5,1m long) is bigger than Q5, Q7 and Q8. So why would Q6 E-tron be smaller than Q8 E-tron then? Especially since Q8 E-Tron is now very sporty like Q8 is. Doesn't make any sense to make Q6 E-Tron smaller than Q8 E-Tron. A6 E-Tron is 4,96m long and I am betting the Q6 E-Tron will be around the same length.
@electrichasgoneaudi
@electrichasgoneaudi Год назад
@@KrisRifa the Q6 is also a chinese LWB 7 seater and is not related to Q6 e-tron. I dont understand why they choose that name for a new model. The Q6 e-tron is built together and share most of the parts with Porsche Macan EV. The current Macan is 474. When Audi presented the Q8 e-tron to me they did show a slide explaining the renaming and on that they had Q4 e-tron, Q6 e-tron and Q8 e-tron in different car segment where Q6 was in a smaller segment than Q8. If you compared spy shots of Q6 e-tron to e-tron spy shots. E-tron seems wider and longer but also Maybe lower. Just like it is lower than Q4. For me it seems like it Will be around 475-480. We will know over the summer.

@@electrichasgoneaudi Three months ago I went to a presentation near Copenhagen of the new e-Tron line-up of Audi during the Q8 e-tron launch where luckily I had the chance to speak to a German Audi representative who explained as follows. The Chinese Audi models are NOT available outside of China and the US and though they are based on known Audi platforms, they are solely made in China to meet Chinese and US demands. Such current models like Q6, A9, Q9, and probably other Chinese variants don't have anything to do with the new PPE models coming out later this year. Q6 e-Tron will be based on this PPE platform developed by Audi and Porche(both 'members' of the VW family), hence the new Porche Macan and the Q6 e-Tron will be based on the same platform whereas the existing Q6 and the upcoming Q6 e-tron are completely unrelated. I was told the plan is to name all cars with combustion engines/PHEVs with uneven numbers, such as A3, A5, A7, Q3, Q5, and Q7(the existing Q8 will probably be renamed as Q7 Sportback on overseas markets) whereas the even number will be reserved for existing and coming e-tron models such as A4, A6 A8, Q4, Q6, Q8, etc. The coming Q6 e-Tron will be around 4800 mm long, hence shorter than the Q8 e-Tron with its 4915mm and longer than the 4588mm of the Q4 e-tron.😀
