Malakas, we really miss your commentary on all the new advancements on the RS3/TTRS for those of us that plan on keeping the 5cyl. Example: when you talked about those that are making 1000hp breaking trans parts and what is coming to remedy that problem. Or the new Daza cams coming out. It would be amazing to hear you cover this kind of stuff as new things come along even if it doesn’t pertain to your particular build. You guys have such a great way of explaining and analyzing things that is sorely missed. Don’t underestimate that, not only on RU-vid, but as part of your business. It’s a knack that not everyone has, be proud. And as always keep up the good work Malakas.

That's for sure an odd situation with those loose pieces in the transmission, but regardless at least you now know and it can be addressed before any further potential damage occurs. Great progress on the build. Looking forward to seeing it all complete and boosting on that fetafuel. With regards to those slight marks on the tip of the teeth of the one gear, that's a normal design and nothing to worry about.

for the smaller seal, it really helps to have a cone that you can slide on the diff so it doesn't mangle it all up when you put the cases together

If you are running aftermarket gearbox mounts check height of the stock mount and aftermarket one, it might be a little bit lower, thats why stock bolts break the housing into the gearbox.

The unknown is always scary..... to me. Glade you did this though so we can see inside. 👍🏾

@vancityaudi did the wavetrack on his RS3 and saw good gains. You should definitely so for it now!

You should still take everything out of the housing and inspect all the parts for damage / a possible location of the chunks. Oh yeah, and do the diff. Is the effect is only half that of a diff on a fwd car it should improve traction greatly.

If you already have it apart, put a wavetrack in it. Just think if you put it all together then something happens and now you got to crack it open again.

Dont forget to swap the bearing sleeve from none modified housing into the modified one(for the diff), or get a new bearing for that side.

If that diff isn't already a known weak point just throw it back in and have fun. See how far you can push it. Not like it takes you that long to pull everything apart anyway. Plus it's more content for us later on.

Is there a serial number on the trans? See if its for your car. Fkkk letting shops getting over and switching your trans

Yes it came in that chassis in 2005 mate, they put the 3.2 with dq250 in A3 sports back They used the 3.2 to test the chassis for 2 years b4 the Rs3 came out . Very nice biuld but its been done there 1000hp running Just so u k ow

Changing the gearbox case and bearings etc in that new machined half will require the gearbox lash setting with new sims now

The more power you make the more traction you’re going to need. I shot a differential pin through a case on a dq250 on a tdi Jetta. I don’t know if DQ 500s have the same potential for issues. Either way a new diff is going to help both of those problems

When did the other trans mount bolt brake from the casing? The one that was welded before this one you fixed in this vid. The casing has definitely been welded before.

That gearbox case has been broken and welded before, you can see the weld the left of the hole you repaired... did you do it?

Someone ran the bolts into the trans without the mount on (cause the mount is kind of a spacer right) with an impact gun, probably so they wouldn't lose them. Pretty much the only explanation.

Put a diff in it while its apart. You'll save yourself the trouble of doing it later!

Man, if he does someone like you wrong, I can only imagine what he'd do to someone with no following like us. Makes me want to learn how to build my own shit. I love the DQ500 design, I just wish I could learn more about it. Was this a ZF transmission or one of Audi's in house ones? Edit: Do the wavetrac!! Might as well at this point, it would be dumb not to man!

if you think audi parts are expensive, just google the audi part number, with VW in front of it like "VW 972947" for instance. It will not get you a warrenty at the dealership, but that is for shure not what this stuff is all about!

I would put the better diff in now that the trans is open,seeing your going to run big power, better safe from the beginning, if that stock diff blows it could damage the rest inside.Maybe NearlyNewParts.be in Belgium is a great place to check out, they get parts directly from the factory in germany as good as new but with a big price reduction and the shit international, the once shipped a v10 from Belgium to the US, i think it was send to usp motorsport, but i could be wrong and i know the have a fully dressed 3.6 fsi engine laying around from a passat r36.I used to work there, i know they have so neat parts laying around depending on what comes in.👍✌️👉

The part of the case that broke off is 100% too long of a bolt and too many Ugga duggas. If you are using the same hardware that should not happen. That aint your transmission. Check the serial number on it.
