I have had this car for 4 yrs and absolutely love it. Did the same ecs res delete, lowered on H&R sport springs, replaced control arms with 034 adjusables. Cars fantastic, and puts a smile on my face to this day. Speaking of which, I'm going to grab a coffee, just so I can drive the damn thing. Adios
Thank you for the feedback! Sounds like the next step in upgrades, H&R would be a good option to look at 👌 enjoy the coffee and drive! Thanks for watching👍
Looking to buy one of these, but will be used for short commute daily and road trips in summers. Whats the mpg like? Dont wanna stop every 350km to fuel up..
My friend has b8.5 it is almost the same. I drive both cars for many KM. And it was pretty fun. What exhaust system do sou have? BTW: Your video has really high PRO quality;)
I just bought a 2015 B8.5 RS5 with 47.9k miles because of this video. I can't wait to see it 4 days 😭 THANK YOU! For this amazing video in detail, but the emotion and story of it all makes it worth more than ever. This is sentimental.
i just picked up my 2014 RS5 yesterday. i asolutely love it. im an audi tech so ive worked on a few of them, but never really got any behind the wheel time. my brother had a B6 S4, and that started my love for audi, and here i am, buying my first audi, and its the b8.5 RS5. this is my favorite audi, right behind the RS6, so i feel like im living in a dream. im the 5th owner, and the last 4 owners took very good care of it. saw it online for the dealership i work for only at our toyota store, for 2g under book, did my research, and couldnt pass it up. 115k miles, and its still practically new. couldnt be any happier about this purchase. well worth the double cost from my previous car (dodge dart, which was my trade in LOL). its an absolute blast! its my only vehicle, so its my daily.
Congrats! That's awesome to hear and hope it's been a blast so far! The B8.5 RS5 is definitely peak 4.2 V8 Thanks for sharing a bit of your buying story, and thank you for watching 👍
@@streetfascist1519 i personally havent seen any, but ive heard from a small handful of sources that it occurs more around 120k miles, which im there lol but otherwise, i havent seen anything. no bulletins about it either that i have found. they are pretty solid cars
I bought my 2013 rs5 a year ago and love every moment of it. Also I am the only person in my city with a rs5, so definitely super cool to own one I get so many compliments on a daily basis. Previous owner straight piped it. At times I do hate the drone, but boy when you let on it, the sound of that engine matches that of a formula one car. This is truly a special vehicle that Audi created. And definitely will be a classic once the company goes fully electric. I will never sell this car. Ever.
@@SecondTooNone Other than general things like brakes, tires, and oil changes, the only issue I have is an intermittent shift issue that cause has not been determined. I have been driving in manual to alleviate the issue, but will need to sort it out before long. Possibly replacing the Mechatronics unit, which will not be cheap... seems to be a rare thing, not a lot on line for my particular issue.
@@davidrawley4461 thank you because I found a 2013 model that I really hope has litttle to no issues and it has low miles so I am hella excited and thanks for reaching back to me 🏎💨
@@SecondTooNoneThats exciting!! Have it checked out by a mechanic that knows them, and you wont have any surprises. They are a hoot, you're gonna love it.
I have never watched a RU-vid channel about car reviews that has resonated with me so much as a car enthusiast than this channel....I don't have a car, am a young guy just about to start life and it's my dream to own one. I just wanted to say thank you for making this video special for us🙏🏾🔥😎
Thank you for the feedback, awesome to hear you enjoyed the video and the WhyBuy channel! Stay tuned for more, and good luck on your first car (hopefully it will be a B8.5 RS5👍)
Thanks to this and other videos I just bought a 2015 RS5 with 39,000 km on the clock! The thing is absolutely mint and I love it so much! I had a mustang before and these are in another league, plus I haven't seen another one so it's super, super rare here in Australia.
Thank you for the feedback, and congrats on your RS5! That's great you found one with such low milage, and yes, couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching 👍
Great Video, thank you for that, it touched my soul. I'm driving my B8.5 RS5 since 2018 and I'm confirming all said in the video. I would only add the amazing optics and the sound of the beeping horn - I was driving in Germany on the unlimited speed stretch with 285km/h after dark, when some lunatic jumped in front of me with probably no more than 130 km/h, Michelin winter tires + ABS + Stability Control + Quattro and all the other Audi Technologies saved my (and presumably other motorists' lives), I just applied with my head lights and I saw the lungs of the lunatic (they looked as Covid free) and the sound of the horn, in it's high tones (probably derived from Lambo) - I have never ever used the head lights and the horn since I'm driving the car, it was really something special, I'm not sure what excites me more now, the sound of the engine in the dynamic mode or the sound of the horn, or the X-ray effect of the head lights on the RS5...
Haha, thank you for sharing your story, and absolutely, the overall package for this car is so close to perfect. To this day, I still appreciate little details in this RS5 that put a smile on my face. One thing I can't believe I overlooked was the start up and exhaust mode. As you know, the valves default closed immediately after starting, but if you simply start the car in ACC, select dynamic, then start the engine, the valves stay open! 😃 Thank you for the feedback, and thank you for watching 👍
I bought a 2008 just a few days ago with 102,000 miles let me tell you one of the smoothest cars I’ve ever driven it’s a six speed manual plenty of power luxury and sports combo of the gods. I just love it. can’t wait to do some performance and suspension upgrades
What a great video production effort, quality thorough information. Love this car and how you portrayed it. Truly a long term holder which will be relevant for years to come.
Thank you for the feedback, always grateful to hear that the effort is appreciated by our viewers. The B8.5 RS5 is a wonderful car to this day, more content on it to come! What a masterpiece of a video. Really hope this blows up. I test drove one a few months ago, and I had the same reaction as you. Unbelievable downshifts that gave me the biggest smile. My biggest concerns are the same as yours, that all of the used cars are pretty beat up and 7 years old, and the repair bills are just not something I'm willing to deal with. Also, the used car market right now is just crazy. For now I will be keeping my Camaro SS, but I'll be looking out for a good conditioned RS5 that I would love to own. Again, great video man. You got my sub.
Thanks for watching Matt 👍Glad to hear you enjoyed the video review. It's worth the wait, find one in good condition with low milage. Even if you can't, all in all these RS5's are rock solid, so it's a fairly safe bet, just set aside some cash for little things that creep up. All the best in your search and enjoy the camaro!
Thank you for the video. Shall I say, very organic . The other videos in my view, fall short of capturing the historical storyline of the engine, suspension, handling characteristics, and sport differential. Most importantly, the other videos couldn't present the joy, passion and thirst for life in driving an RS5 . I'm glad, I decided to purchase a replacement RS5. This presentation placed a smile on my face.
@@siamoon8257 thank you for watching, and thank you for the feedback! It is an amazing car and it’s great to hear the buying story is appreciated. Thanks again 👍
I was shopping for a 2015 Camaro SS. They go for 27.000€ in Germany ... its crazy. I bought a RS5 B8 2010 for 21.500€ because it was cheaper. Meanwhile you can get Camaros for 14.000 USD in America. Imagine a RS5 being cheaper ..
@@siamoon8257 There really are some rather special RS5 tribute-like videos out there. This one here is exceptional, but you may have overlooked some others.
I had the opportunity to buy something newer but wanted a sedan with a V8 twin turbo and unfortunately the s6 2018 was the last year. So naturally that's what I went with, it's the ideal family sleeper car. I'll add an rs5 to the family one day cheap and beat as possible to take out on the weekend to rip on lol
I love my 2014 RS5 daily. ive had very minor issues in the past 3 years of ownership. other than typical wear and tear replacements parts ive only ever had an issue with EGR valves and the charcoal can. the car is a beast
Excellent video, congrats and thanks for telling this story. It sounds so much like my own experience! I heard a B7 RS4 drive into an underground car park about 18 years ago and loved them ever since. Fast forward to 3 months ago and after searching for about a year and not really committing to a few that looked good, finally landed a great RS5 at a really good deal. Can’t keep the smile off my face.!
Congratulations! and that comes as no surprise. The B7 RS4 is a very special car that truly made a sound like no other. The B8.5 RS5 is similar in all the right ways, and even better is some aspects. Glad to hear your patience paid off! Thanks for your feedback, and thank you for watching 👍
I've just purchased a 2014 B8.5 RS5 in Sepang Blue. My buying experience was much like yours; tried one, adored it, but struggled to find one in the spec and condition I wanted. When I did, it was a little more money than I'd planned to spend... but I genuinely thought about your RS4 experience, and decided I couldnt miss it. Don't regret it, its the perfect daily driver; comfortable, impeccable build quality, and when you want to have fun it leaves the most ridiculous grin on your face.
Congrats and that's awesome to hear! It's been a while, but the RS5 still manages to make me smile. Sepang Blue is an awesome color too, nice find. I saw one driving once, gorgeous, reminds me of the poster car for the B7 RS4 Sprint Blue, not exact but similar vibes 😎 Thanks for watching and sharing a bit of your story!
27:12 you nailed it right on the head. When I'm looking for my next car that I want as an "enthusiast", I don't even look at anything after 2018 because of EV/emissions standards and just knowing how bad new tech is going to age in cars. When looking for my "dream car" I almost prefer 2000s cars because of the minimal tech, but like you mentioned in the video, the RS5's interior I believe will age pretty well considering how minimal tech there is.
Its funny because the only car after 2016 that im interested in is the Camaro SS and Vette and C63. Everything else is absolutely fucking boring for me. No matter if RS, M or AMG (amg still the nearest fitting option with the C63).
@@DarkSession6208 Guess it depends on what you're going for. If you want a torquey car that's good in the low rev range, then the B8.5 RS5 isn't for you and definitely go with a Maro or Vette. If you're looking for a weekend car you can rev out to 8500 rpm, then e92 M3 or RS5 is more ideal. It's all about preference tbh. I daily my Maro and feel at easy knowing it's not going to break down on me or cost 10k to fix when something goes wrong. It's perfect for what I use it for. I'm just thinking if/when I want a weekend only car, RS5 would def peak my interest (definitely not a daily IMO). I honestly don't see the B8.5 values dipping much from here given how high RS4 values have gone.
Fantastic video! Congrats on such a beautiful low milage b8.5... Very eloquently spoken story & description. One of the best videos I have seen on our beloved V8 packin RS5
@@WhyBuy Also would like to add that you speak from the heart & are very genuine. Your tone & delivery are very trust envoking. You come across like a seasoned pro in your review. Greatness is destined for you!
I'm planning on getting one next year when I've got through a few things in life. I'm worried they will start to go up in price before I get a chance 😅. I've been working hard for so many years to get this car. My dream car without a doubt!🔥
Great vid! Currently shopping for one of these. Liked the increased volume of the resonator delete, but for me the X pipe removed some of the V8 muscle sound and smoothed it. Think I would go H pipe on resonator removal... Thanks for a great taste of the car anyway 😁
Thanks for the feedback, and for what's its worth, the audio in the video doesn't 100% represent the accurate tone of the exhaust. If you are referring to uneven airflow like what an H pipe produces, then yes, it will be different than an X pipe, however if it's that low end deep bass sound, it certainly maintains that nice V8 rumble. Thanks for watching 👍
Congratulations on an absolutely superb review of this iconic car. I graduated from an A5 to the RS5 in 2018 after a l-o-n-g and patient search. Although the A5 is an eminently practical vehicle (and possibly a more sensible daily driver with its lower running costs) it cannot hold a candle to the RS5 when it comes to smiles-for-miles, presence and sledgehammer like performance. I was actually inspired to seek out an RS5 by the very entertaining Rosenthal review of the vehicle; which gave interested viewers a short, summarised overview with a delightful touch of humour. Check it out as it's great viewing. Back then it was also a very professional production at a time when the majority of posts were actually quite amateurish. One of the issues (apart from the obvious requirement of low mileage) which delayed my purchase was my preference for an interior that was anything other than black leather/alcantara; which I find drab and bordering on depressing. Eventually I was fortunate enough to find a 2014 Daytona Grey Pearlescent vehicle with grey Napa leather upholstery which, to my taste, looks wonderful and adds an impression of lightness and airiness to the interior. Each to his own! But what surprised me about this video was the sudden and unexpected mention of the Honda Fit ( called Jazz in my country). I am fortunate to own 4 vehicles ( Audi RS5, 981 Porsche Cayman S, Toyota Yaris GR with Track Pack [ a sensational small car not offered in North America ] &........a Honda Jazz/Fit! ). It struck me as really interesting that our history in vehicles should be so closely matched. The Jazz/Fit plays the role of 'family workhorse' and plays a vital role in transporting people, large items etc., at negligible cost. It is also a useful standby when travelling to dodgy areas where the security of the car when unattended might be at risk. ( We have a thriving car hijacking industry in South Africa). If one focuses on the true purpose of a car - the safe journeying from A - Z within the speed limit at nominal expense with amazing versatility! - then it possibly ranks as the best car we own. Lastly - it was a pleasure to watch a long video where the presenter did not shout at me and whine on in a hard-to-listen to nasal twang. Top class.
Smiles per gallon 😎 Thank you for your feedback and sharing your story. It's nice to hear that you relate to the story and that you enjoyed the video. I debated mentioning the Honda Fit/Jazz but, yes it is a practical daily that does not draw much attention, for better or worse! Hope you are enjoying your RS5, I went for a drive last night or quiet roads, and it still puts a huge smile on my face. Thank you again for sharing your story, and thank you for watching! 👍
Hey man nice video. The Audi Rs 5 is my dream car😍. In the next year i will buy an Rs5 too. I love this sound from the high reving v8. But here in germany a muffler delete is illegal😕 Sorry for my bad english… Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Thank you for the feedback! Couldn't agree more, the sound this V8 makes is incredible. That's too bad you can't make modifications to the muffler, but maybe the resonator? Anyways, thanks for watching! 👍
This video was on point, I even learned something I didn’t know about my RS5. I’ve had mine for almost a year now and I have no regrets. It’s an incredible piece of engineering and I had to pull the trigger on it. It was funny too since someone in the dealership was trying to hide it cause they had it with a bunch of cars they kept in their back lot 🤣
Thank you for the feedback, happy to hear you went for it. Not surprising that the dealer was hiding it haha, they sell fast and I think more and more people are going to want the B8.5. Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for the kind feedback, and that's a shame to hear you had to sell yours. Sad to think Audi won't make one of these V8 GT cars ever again. Thanks for sharing your story (albeit a sad one), and thank you for watching 👍
the X-pip changed my life! Also FYI I never like the fact you have to always OPEN the exhaust vale on start up so there is a little hack you can do that will keep it open 100% by going in the trunk and pulling out a little plug...
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I've heard of this also, there is a video on how to do this here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rv5h_AMLdf8.html Thanks for watching!
@@renoks I have scanned it will and yes you will get a fault code but that code NEVER trips a check engine light nor has any measurable negative effect on drive or performance of the vehicle
Agreed these are some great cars. They styled in such a way that is timeless and the factor is intoxicating. I have a panther black RS5 and everyone that sees it comment on how beautiful the car looks and how the color is not an everyday black (deep purple up close black from a distance). I installed the Jh Motorsports downpipes and rear Remus axle back. This car sounds and moves like an exotic.
This is a great comprehensive video. I just bought a 2013 RS5 with the Black Optics and sport package. My previous car was a Mazda 3. Like you, I was ready to get something more fun, but practical. The B8.5 RS5 is sporty yet classy, powerful yet calming, it can be a fun car to take on the track or use as a daily driver. Please keep us updated on any new findings you have with your car.
Thank you for the feedback and congrats on the RS5! 🔥 There will definitely be upcoming content featuring the RS5 so stay tuned, but really quick, the car has had a healthy 20,000 additional Km's since this video and it's doing great! such a blast to drive! Thank you for watching 👍
Awesome video dude. Been thinking about getting a b8.5 RS5 before they become unaffordable with taxes/fuel etc and now seems the time to buy. There's a few nice examples in the UK at the moment at around £25k. Super tempting! Your video amongst a few others is swaying me towards getting one for the smile you get driving it day to day!
Thank you for the feedback, and you would be correct, it is more or less, that golden time to own a B8.5 RS5. Even something like grabbing groceries turns into a fun joy ride that brightens your day haha "oh I forgot something, be right back!" If you can, just go for it and thanks for watching 👍
I have an Audi A5 3.2 FSI V6 and it does put a smile on my face when I downshift and floor it, but I can only imagine what it feels like to drive the RS5!
Brilliant Video I am on my second white RS5. Hands down my favorite daily driver of all time. For the money it cannot be beaten as an all round car. I also had the V8 S5 before but it is no comparison to the RS5. Great driving shots! Glad to see someone else loves them as much as I do!
Thank you for the feedback! The B8.5 RS5 is definitely a great all around car. Surprisingly usable on a day to day basis, and that V8 😍 Happy to hear you enjoyed the video, and thank you for watching 👍
Have a 13 rs5 modded to the gills with Capristo , jhm stage 2 etc. Most beautiful car ive ever owned. Nvr selling it. Skip the Eventuri intake. Robs you of 3whp over stock. Learned that lesson the hard way.
Awesome I love my a5 tfsi cabriolet 8.5 I’ve had it around 6 years and still love it though I’m now tempted with the awesome V8 although I’d still want it in a cabriolet 👍👍
Thanks for this apt tribute to a timeless vehicle. Since you’re such a fan of the model, did you know Audi sent 75 Limited Sports Editions to the US in 2015? No one should feel they missed out, though. It takes the interior to a new level with red leather. Audi added special wheels, also. I love mine. Glad you found your dream car. It brings a smile to MY face to hear you talking about it. Keep finding happiness in the RS5 experience. I am.
Thank you for the feedback, I'm familiar with the limited edition you are talking about, absolutely stunning! I must admit, I wonder how much better this RS5 would look with that beautiful red interior option! I actually came across a Nardo Grey when I was searching and I came back after work for a closer look, but it sold within hrs of it being on the lot 😥 BUT I still got lucky with this one. Definitely enjoying this car every moment I'm near it. Thank you for watching 👍
Watched the entire video, I feel the exact same way, super underrated car but I like that because it’s less popular it feels more exclusive on the road. (Especially where M4s plague the road here in Northern Ireland.) The sound alone after the resonator delete makes buying it worthwhile in itself. Glad that you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
Thank you for watching! and good point, the design of the RS5 mixed with the Audi attention to detail, and yes, that V8 engine! A very unique GT car that I'm grateful to drive everyday. Thanks for the feedback 👍
Good you can drive it daily, in Uk fuel is much too expensive so I’ve an A4 avant diesel as a daily. As nice as the Rs5 would be to daily, I’m trying to keep miles low (33k currently)
@@chubbsmasterson Completely agree, if I could, I would do the same. Avant's are beautiful, and a diesel would be perfect. Luckily I don't have to commute, just drive when I want to drive. Again, thanks for your feedback, and wow! 33k miles, you have discipline 😮
@@WhyBuy low miles easily done when you account for tax, mpg and poor weather which is consistently bad over here. Also low miles helps keep the value decent when the time comes to sell 🤞
Really great video, enjoyed the content! proud owner of the same generation a5 coupé, great car, amazing design and performance, the rs5 take it to the next level!
Hey, very nice video. Enjoyed every second of it, it’s too bad there isn’t much content on these cars on youtube. I own an mk7 gti at this moment and been dreaming for the RS5 for quite some time. Need some more saving but one day i will get there :) By the way, the big bwaaaaaps during shifting do actually have a technical function. Its the ignition cutoff during shifts to protect the clutches. Thats why almost all dual clutch cars these days make that sound while shifting. It sounds a lot more agressive on a V8 though :)) Hope you make some more content on this beast!
Thank you for the feedback and insight! Makes perfect sense, and now it’s more justified to keep those glorious shifts going! Hope you get a chance to own an RS5, they truly are amazing cars. Thanks again for sharing the knowledge, and thanks for watching! 👍
I own a 2015 Audi RS5 in Nardo Grey. Premium colour. I absolutely love it and have wanted to sell because the re-sale vale on these things has gone up heaps in Australia. BUT.. in my heart I can't do it. I will keep it forever i reckon. 😍
Thank you for the feedback, and that is an amazing RS5 spec. Nardo Grey is very rare too, only seen them in pictures and video. Couldn't agree more, this car is very hard to sell and let go. Many people have offered to buy mine and even though I could make money from selling it, I don't think I could find it again. Enjoy and thanks for watching 👍
Hey. So after I watched this video I just bought my rs5!!! Such a great detailed vid. I always debated between an f80 m3 and a b8.5 RS5. Your video sold me. Im just scared that the prices will drop and I bought at the peak of the used car market (covid influenced).
Thank you 😊 and congratulations 🎉 on your RS5! The feeling is mutual, however, despite depreciation or the market, there’s no denying that this is a very special RS car. Rare to even have the pleasure of driving one every day 👍 There are considerably worse things to have overpaid on. Enjoy it and thanks for watching!
Excellent video. Very authentic content thats very real to life! One day, delete the xpipe, plus, delete the 2 front resonators ( leaveing the stock mufflers as you have). Its on a whole new level, and still calm when wanted.
Thank you for the feedback! It's easy to make a great car video when the engine sounds like this 4.2 V8! Happy to hear you enjoyed, and thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for the kind feedback, and to answer your question, make sure to look for a clean service record. Many RS5 owners will keep a very accurate log of all maintenance and services done, also, it is a good idea to have it inspected by a third party before you buy. If you can, buy it from an Audi dealer, you might qualify for extended warranty AND they sometimes offer exclusive finance rates. Thanks for watching 👍
This car kicks ass. That's my first audi and though I've owned some faster cars, the engine is a masterpiece. The confidence it gives you is just astonishing.. Do you know there's a problem with catalyst converters failing and some particles of ceramics can get induced into the engine.. Causing severe damage to the piston walls? I'm trying to find some info on it but not much is available.. Maybe you can tell us something. Regards, your videos are sick 👍
Thank you for the feedback! Haven't heard anything about particles from the catalytic converters cycling back into the engine, only that the location with the header design can produce lot's of heat. So far so good, keep us posted if you find anything more on that 👍
That introduction was off the hook! I love the hands going up to the steering wheel and the finger about to press the start engine button. Just makes me imagine what it's like to own one and sit in and get to start it! I am hoping to buy one of these this year. So you reckon just the X-pipe then and it will sound like it does in this video?
Thank you for the feedback! It's nice to hear those little moments in the video are appreciated by our viewers 😀Sounds like a great year ahead! If you are looking to buy an B8.5 RS5, yes, the x-pipe alone is all you need, it sounds perfect. Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for the feedback, and that's great to hear, best of luck finding one, it can be a bit of a hunt to get the right one but it's worth it! thanks for watching 👍
After ten years of owning BMW’s, the last being 640d Grand Coupe. My partner told me she wanted a estate again. The Six series in last iteration is one of the best looking cars BMW has ever built. So a estate, but it had to be fast, v fast. Only one name came to my mind a RS4. Hence in March I took ownership of a 2014, 60,000 mile, Red RS4 with factory fitted sports exhaust etc. Only upgrades I’ve added are a carbon fibre steering wheel & Carplay retrofitted. It has caused so many rows, arguments & threats of divorce that I have nick nicknamed her “Thunderchild” 😂 Being a boy racer never sounded so good!! 😆👍😆👍😆
Thank you for the story 😁 that’s one of the best all around packages. Very jealous here in North America, we sadly never got that amazing avant. Thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for the feedback! That's a tough decision, M4's are very fun cars, but unfortunately, they do not have that incredible v8 sound! Thanks for watching and good luck with the RS5!
As a B8 RS4 Avant driver, thanks for this. That free revving V8 still gets me every time. I have to focus on not driving like an absolute maniac just to hear her sing.
Thank you for the feedback. I wish the B8 Avant RS4 was available in North America. One of the best looking and practical cars ever made. Thank you for watching 👍
Great video!, was watching those to get one about 18months ago, and didn't, they are up roughly 10 grand more now, next good one I find, I pull the plug. Driving a 4.2L A6 for now :)
Careful with interchanging the (intended) term disconcerting with "disconcerning," which isn't a word. The latter equivalent would be concerning (not "disconcerning"). Excellent insight here. I have had these same thoughts on wanting to get this car. This engine originates from the R8 block. Production years in the US were officially 2010 to 2016.5. The tire pricing is indeed a major drawback. The heritage effect of the V8 is the major appeal. The car holds its value, but this also comes at the expense of maybe overpaying for an older car. The other thing is that if one pays too much for this car, they're getting close to Lexus LC 500 territory which also has a potent V8 and a far less dated interior. Still, I have my eyes open for a good deal on a well-maintained RS5, ideally 2016.
Thank you for the feedback! Even the grammar suggestion 😅 We appreciate the insight and yes, absolutely, this is a very special and rare Audi that if you can find in good condition, without overpaying, go for it. Side note: absolutely! that LC 500 sounds incredible! Another underrated GT car. Thanks for watching 👍
I paid 2k for my continentals on a z3 back in 2010 so the price you mentioned sounds like nothing. I say this because people are talking about the rising cost of tires. I don't know where that's coming from.
Perhaps going from something like a "honda fit" to an RS5 might seem like sticker shock, but yes, you can find good pricing on tires still. Especially with club memberships and discounts, it's not all that terrible. Thank you for the feedback, and thanks for watching 👍
Thank you great Video! Your research ist excellent - its really a great car! As you might have noticed (bad english) I'm from Germany the Hometown of the Audis. I got several cars and one of them is the Audi RS 5, but as I like the Wind and the Athmosphere it's a convertible. Those are even more rare , because they only built round about 2.200EA (thats what audi told me). The only thing you could have mentioned is that if you wanna have fun with that car, as we all wonna have, the fuel consumption is kind of high. (Mine is taking more than 15 Liters per 100Km). Anyhow great video great car 😉😉😉😉 PS: Exhaust mods in GY are nearly impossible 😒😒 Enjoy your car Kind Regards
Thank you for the great feedback! And yes, the fuel consumption is less than perfect, but the engine note is worth every penny. The cabriolet is great, I've seen one in person, but have never driven, sound is probably excellent. Thank you again, and thank you for watching 👍
I own a 2015 rs5 cabrio in nardo grey and I just wanted to clarify that this engine is unique as an audi 4.2L v8. Its not related to the RS4, in fact the 2010-2012 Audi S5 coupe carries the late 2000’s RS4 v8. The v8 in the rs5 is actually the same engine as the R8 v10 & lambo v10 (minus two cylinders). It is not Based on the RS4 v8; in fact (as mentioned above) the 2010-2012 S5 coupe also shared the RS4 V8 from the late 2000s and came in at 420 hp whereas the RS5 v8 comes in at 450 hp & is essentially the same engine as the Lamborghini and Audi R8 V 10 engine sans two cylinders. This makes this engine even MORE special. It was never put in any other platform from Audi.
Valid point, and yes that is correct. The B8.5 RS5 does have a new V8 co-developed and more akin to the Lamborghini V10. Good catch, it wasn't clear in the video, but the reference was more to the 8,250 RPM redline more than anything. Thanks for the insight and feedback! Also, aren't you forgetting the B8 RS4 Avant? 😁
With Reference to buying the Audi RS5 @ 10.15 in the Video is 100% true, most of these cars have had 5-6 may-be more Owners within the first 6-8 years of ownership & in my point of view this makes me think that all off those 5-6 owners has thrashed the car to its limit, trying to find one with 2-3 owners & also a RS5 with Full Audi History is a must( Not a car with mixed independent garage History). Looking for one over the pass 6 months I have only seen one (2014 car) which had low ownership & Full Audi SH for sale at an Audi dealership & when I called about the car, It had been sold 24 hours earlier, Always better to pay the extra and buy the best one you can with as Low Mileage as Possible as maintenance on these cars really is astronomical
Thank you for the feedback and sharing insight. Yes, you definitely want a meticulous previous owner, and it was very painful to wait until the right one was found, but it was worth it. They’re out there, just have to be patient. Thanks for watching 👍
I love audi and I own an s line a5 sportback this car would be my dream, but come on audi, is it that big of a deal not to give us an oil dipstick not only to check the level but to see the condition of the oil?
@@WhyBuy I admire your car and they are a beauty but provide the basics? Every other maker can do it but I don't trust the computer over a basic thing like that though? All the best and happy motoring.. 😊
I am considering trading my 2021 TLX for one of these. It is hard to go from a 2 years old car to a 10 years old but since this is the last of the real there is no other option. As you stated, the challenge is to find one with less then 100k km
Very different cars, but if you have been on the fence, now is the time. As mentioned in the video, waiting too long can sometimes make these cars even more difficult to find with low miles and good condition. If you are able, you won't regret waking up everyday to this amazing car. The B8.5 RS5 is definitely a "worth the risk" type car, and in fairness, it's not much risk, it's well engineered and the tech, powertrain, and suspension is basic. Good luck! and thanks for sharing 👍
Congrats on the car. I have a 2014 with black optics and titanium package. Bought it from an audi dealer with warranty. Curious if you know if the resonator delete voids the warranty? Thanks
Thats a good question, can't say definitively that it won't however it is a modification that doesn't impact mechanical systems aside from improved airflow and the mufflers are still in tact. Doubtful that it would present any friction, but you never know, sometimes these little things are used as an excuse. Ultimately it's worth the risk.
My only bugbear is i get the feeling this car isn’t that fast compared to the rs6 model. I want a C5 rs6..why because I drove one in my 20’s and I just remember that feeling when you put your foot down. It was to me that feeling you get on an airplane when your taking off. The torque put me in my seat and I grinned like a manic. My heart was racing and seriously I was in fcuking love with that car! So anyway I’ve been watching the rs5 b8 videos on here and it doesn’t look like it’s going to give me that take off feeling which is a shame. Could tune one I suppose. Nice looking car thou all the same
Great question, and in all fairness to the C5 (fantastic car by the way, we just did a video on one 👌) The RS5 is not far off from that engine down low. In fact, with the RS5, if you put your foot down north of 4,000 rpm, it’s not a plane taking off, it’s more like a rocket 🚀 to the moon haha Highly suggest you drive one if you can. Similar horsepower in both cars, but the delivery is quite unique. PLUS 8,000 rpm redline? Never gets old 👍 Still, no favorites. The C5 RS6 is an icon, as with the b8.5 RS5
Thank you for such a heartfelt video. I currently own a 2017 RS7. But I am on the hunt for a 2015 RS5 in Grey or Black If anyone has a lead. For all the reasons you explained .
Hello, How has this car held up for you? I am highly considering a 2014 rs5 with 66k miles. I would love to hear how it was been reliability wise for you. What are the biggest cons in general for you?
Currently 80,000 km's and it's been great. People like to say these car's aren't reliable and I don't see how. The only thing you are going to run up against is the cost of parts for repair or consumables like brakes. Don't kid yourself, this is an expensive machine that if it was abused by the previous owner, you might be in for an expensive list of repairs. I was lucky to find one very new and have taken good care of it since, it still performs and runs like a dream. There's new WhyBuy episodes out on this car, I talk about things to watch out for and how it's going, but I'll save you some time, it's worth it, don't wait. Good luck and thanks for watching 👍
Hey my friend, I’m a viewer in china, and I’ve been looking at the rs5 for a very long time, loved your videos, but I have some questions that need to be answered before I make a purchase, if you could see my comment please let me know! Thanks a looott!!! 1. I live in a city environment where you wouldn’t really see any mountain roads or long stretches of farm roads like the ones you have in North America, how does the car perform in city traffic? I heard that the NA V8 lacks power down at the rpm range and it could be frustrating to drive in city traffic 2. In my city the highest speed limit is basically 80km/h, which is like… 45 mph? The engine likes to rev and honestly the 8300 rpm engine is why I’m after this car, but I am a bit worried that in city driving I could never reach that rev range without breaking the law, what speed are you at when you’re 2nd gear 8000rpm?
Thank you for the feedback, will try to answer as best i can. City driving this car in automatic comfort mode is perfectly fine except if it is very hot, you will feel the transmission and engine not perform as smooth. The Audi RS5 isn't what you might call a city car or commuter, it likes to get out and gallop. Just keep an eye on temperatures and try not to abuse the dual clutch in bumper to bumper traffic. It has a crawl gear, use it. As far as power down low, that's correct, the power band in this car is above 3,500 rpm but luckily the gearing ratio is very well thought out. For example, if you are limited to slower speed limits, you can still enjoy revving out the engine in 1st and 2nd gear. It's playful at slow speeds and you will always get a chance to hear that musical 8,000 rpm redline! Thanks for watching 👍
Best of luck, it took a while to find this one but it is worth it. People may disagree with winter driving cars like these, but Audi's are beasts in the snow, lot's of fun! Just baby it with car washes, the salt and junk on the highways can be brutal. Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching 👍
Bad experience? But yes, the dual clutch is not a cheap fix. Benefits of buying from an Audi dealer, extended factory warranty, depending on mileage, 4 yrs on this one.
Saw a video of a R8 with one once, sounded sooooo good! Would definitely be nice to have an upgraded full system, maybe catless downpipes? Then it would sound like a race car haha Thanks for watching 👍
I want it, trying to decide between this or the recent TT rs. RS5 v8 more legendary, TTrs is lighter faster, newer, more fuel efficient but,,,, not a v8 RS5
Very tough decision, the 5 cylinder in the TTRS is incredible, but hearing both in person, you just can't beat the sound of that 8,250RPM V8. Personal preference really. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching 👍
Hey man kinda nice knowing where those streets are when youre doing the driving montage lol. Wondering how much you paid for the car and what km? Just trying to see what the reasonable price for the KM.
These highways are located in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. unfortunately the exact pricing isn't disclosed. The range for these cars will vary between $30K to $50K depending on the mileage and condition. Good luck! Thank you for the feedback, and thank you for watching 👍
Im planning on buying an rs5, is this a reliable engine? And does it come with much complications? What is good to look for when planning on buying one? :)
First step is to try and find one with low miles. Make sure the service history is well documented and intervals are adhered to. Overall the co-developed Lamborghini Audi 4.2 V8 in this car is very refined and reliable however like all performance engines, previous owners don't always service and maintain them as recommended. Best of luck and thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for the feedback! How does the RS5 perform in the winter? 😎 It is a lot of fun! With a good set of tires, these things are absolute beasts in the snow ❄️
