My wife's been driving fast Audis for over 20yrs (S2 coupe, S4's, S5's etc) and in that time has been offered a fair few races. Six months ago she got an RS6 and the difference in other drivers' attitudes towards her is unbelievable. Now everybody wants to race, she doesn't get let out of junctions - the car actually provokes anger in some drivers. ... if you live in Aberdeen and own a 2 litre turbo diesel - please stop trying to race my wife. Thanks.
I recognise you Jamie ... lemme think, ... ah! yes ... the traffic lights on Queens Rd, Aberdeen. .. shit! your erratic maneuvers in your Dacia Duster were awesome. ... keep up the good work, Jimbo.
Why does Chris make every single review of a car so enjoyable? You have thousands reviewers over there, yet only few of them can come close to the superb test drives from Chris Harris.
Yep, it's a shame that most of us Americans have such a stupid, ignorant perception to station wagons, they obviously have never seen beasts like the RS6 avant. Shame, I want one so bad. Audi should consider making an individual program where U.S customers can at least special order their RS6 avant, or hopefully one day we might get it as a full production U.S car. Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with the RS7, it's monstrous, it's beautiful, it's diabolically fast. But for me, there is NO substitute for an RS6 avant. Such a sleeper, it's a wagon after all! Come on Audi of America, deliver us some more the best of RennSport!!
Yep thats sucks.... Audi stop shipping Audi RS4 and RS6 to USA since 2009. I love Audi RS.. because of quattro. You don't getting in BMW M or AMG.... Audi handle the road... I am surprise that BMW and Mercedes didn't introduce jet 4x4 in M or AMG...I am sure the will :)
Robert Rydlewski being a audi owner myself, they arent the best handling cars in stock form compared to the AMG's or M cars. the tragic understeer really hampers it's handling. theres a reason why the other two german mfg's havent gone to AWD for their performance cars
Notice how he said What transmission is going through pulling away from start and continuing That is for a reason Mercedes is just more reliable car You'll be a little bit slower but more sure than in an Audi VAG, you know, with all its technology is not that reliable
Audi have really done it with the styling on the new RS6 imo, looks incredible. But the CLS AMG ain't a bad looker either. Just love the way the Audi pulls, that gearbox is amazing, but I also love the muscle car esqueness and sound of the CLS, which would probably make it feel the more special car when pootling around town at 20, and like stated the Merc has a gorgeous interior. Tough choice ...
i personally feel the audi interior looks better and the feel the merc is kinda ugly, but merc does sound better and better driver car with no audi understeer
Finn Jeffrey Lol, 11 months later. I would rather have a smallef house and an RS6 than a big house and a AMG. The RS6 (2017 version is way nicer but) is just a beast,...
I've been watching every single Top Gear episode, but I find your comments on cars much more understandable, useful and...normal! When you say that you always drive the Merc on comfort mode it gives me the feel that this is how it should be driven. Forget about those hardcore settings on the Audi, they're just too harsh for everyday use. Thank you, CH!
You need to see the MB in real life against the Audi.. And you change your mind easily.. ;) On Videos and pictures, the MB looks ugly but in real.. Superb, respectively outstanding.. Against the Audi
I love how you guys did the 1/4 mile breakdown with the numbers on the screen. Especially with the slow motion at first then the race. I hope you guys do that again in other segments on your channel.
I've been a hardcore Top Gear fan since the shows new inception in 2002. For years Top Gear was in another league compared to other car programs, but I think Chris Harris one up's Top Gear. I think Chris Harris is hands down the best car reviewer in the world at the moment, so entertaning to watch, so informative, and still objective. This guy needs his own channel !
I'd have the RS6. It looks gorgeous, especially in the matte grey they do for it. Saw one the other day and it really is a head turner! I also think that Audi interiors are really top notch nowadays, they look like a really nice place to sit. Can't wait to see the saloon :D
I am so conflicted. Why can't one car company have the interior of a Benz, the look of a bmw (excluding the recent 7 series), and the performance of an Audi? Benz by far makes the best interiors, ever. BMW usually gets the most looks from the people. Audi quattro system is just too good to pass up. WHY THE TORTURE!
Beef Broth i would like to See a Audi with the Performance of a Porsche and the interior of a Bentley (and they are all from the Same Company Even they Produce Cars together but why they dont put the best of each together)
a beautiful piece, top notch as always, sincere direct and informative while entertaining, really like the editing and the videography sometimes spills into sheer sensational.
The Audi is better indeed, more logical for daily life, 4wd and insane transmission. But you just can not ignore the Merc, better sound, quality and, in my opinion, design. That Shooting Brake is gonna remain in my heart as the loveliest wagon ever.
@@iamcyberpunk68 you do realise, that "your" Juke R TT 3.8 has never been a production car, but only a concept car? So no matter how you put it, you don't own one.
***** 4wd also make's car slower because it's loose more power. Audi would be even faster if it was against that 4 matic. From start 4wd is great but when you get grip in long race like here it just slows you down and rwd will have the edge. Merc didnt catch Audi when it had grip and Audi was just pulling away so 4 matic would lose even more because it loses more power from wheels than this rwd.
***** Still you didnt understand. Off course Audi lose more power because of 4wd like all the cars with 4wd. But CLS 4matic loses more power than RWD CLS because of drivetrain power loss. 4wd is useless when the car have grip (exaple speeds over 100km/h)and it will only make the car slower and heavier. Thats the fact. This is info from the CLS: "The 4MATIC system also adds 154 pounds, and there are power losses." 4matic is slower in 1 mile drag race than CLS RWD because RWD would overtake it in second half of the mile. Audi was pulling away from start to finish and it will pull away more from 4matic because it is heavier and slower than CLS rwd. That is just simple truth. Yes. CLS is great and fast car, but RS6 is faster. And when you say AWD will allways beat RWD is bullshit. BMW M4 GTS(490hp) beat the shit out Gallardo LP 570-4(560hp) Superleggera, Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991)(500hp) or Audi R8 V10 Plus (Mk II)(600hp) in Nürburgring Nordschleife because of high speed corners and straits where 4wd just slowes you down.
I kinda agree, but TopGear aren't trying to be good. They are just out to have a laugh, Chris Harris wouldn't make a good comedian, but he makes a hell of a car reviewer.
Simple. Because TopGear wasn't always trying to be funny, its really only developed its funny side in the last few years. It used to be a serious car review show - as Chris Harris's segment is now.
Aaron Cole Yes agree , TopGear wants to be funny but isnt even that. So i like Chris facts and arguments for all cars he is testing . Thats more important for me than looking for anything funny. In that case i watch comedian :-)
I love Cls too and I'm really like MB..when i see it in the the real world..i really love it..but i like your review! you are very fair in the assessment!
+Ryu Makkuro Only if said C7 RS6 doesn't have the spoilers, flaps, logos, etc. It's not just the bigger and more powerful engine that makes the old RS6 nicer than the new one. You couldn't distinguish the old RS6 from, say, a 2.0 TDI. That's part of the charm of the car. The new one looks too brash for me.
Joe Barbaro And the tiny badges. But those were surprisingly hard to distinguish from Quattro badges in the front grille, and the name of the engine (e.g. 3.0 TFSI) on the bootlid. But seriously, parking sensors?
***** How come. It divides the power up between the front and rear tyres nicely (I forgot the exact ratio). it gives you a lot of extra grip. it's useful.
***** Yes it is usefull. There's a Reason the current CLS can go from 0-100 in 3.6 seconds. Du to 4WD and Traction control and launch control.... Stop being a fanboy.
***** Could you belive it? I am infact enjoying it everyday. Lastly it is a multi purpose vehicle and not a feature i'd miss out on! It's not like you make skids in aplicable driving anyways. So what experience are you teaching me from? Tell me about your car.
Hello Chris, you are by far the best and most entertaining car reviewer on both sides of the Atlantic, my only complain is that we do not see enough of you reviewing cars which is a shame. Can you please do a review of the Audi RS6 vs the Merc E class AMG, i know you said the CLS Shooting brake is a better comparison due to its size similarity but in the real world the E class is the natural rival and it would be nice to see a comparison done by you. PS try getting a white audi RS6 for that one
Loved your s4 rs4 video. Along with this one. I think you should do another with the rs6 bs rs6 tuned. It has to be power monster stock let alone tune.
Take a look at the night vision Audi vs Merc vs bmw.. Audi & Merc are pretty close, but Audi wins. Bmw isn't worth even mentioning lol. For me Audi & Merc are the best but i choose Audi.
Paul Stefan remember my question is centered around if the crash actually happens and it's a big one. yes, night vision is great for crash avoidance, but I'm thinking more of the idiot that runs the traffic light and hits your wife and children in the intersection....which one do you trust to preserve them??
Really sucks that Americans don't like wagons and would rather drive crossovers. I want a good Audi wagon so bad but all there is here is A4 Avant, or Allroad. And none in manual. Americans never embraced the wagon so now all of North America suffers
Dear Chris. I follow your channel from Denmark and I can't help notice that you again and again complaints about prices on cars these days... Why don't you do your next auto test I Denmark where I live and try to explain the prices on a new car over here. .. an new Audi RS6 cost you 90 grand you say... you can save up 200 grand of you want to buy it in Denmark. ...!!!!! The exact same car..... The Danish government take 180% in taxes on every new car sold I DK. !!!! Plus 25% WAT. !!
No not quite correct.. it's a 105% for the first 80500 dkr..the rest is 180%.. But ok, it still SUCKS..!!! Now before you got to pay this fucking shit high taxes...you got to earn the money first..and of course pay income taxes of them. So would it be wrong to state that the idiots in the danish government demands 300% tax on every damned car?? It's fucking criminal..!
Iv always been an AMG person, but if I had the choice I would get the RS6, not only is it a better all-round vehicle, its much better looking than the AMG. But I do believe the AMG sounds better (as always) and its definitely a better drivers car than the RS6!!
If I had the money - the RS6 would be my definite choice, the Merc is like a porn-club inside with all that white leather .... the RS6 is just spot on, and it EATS tarmac like no other estate >.
The acceleration advantage from the Audi comes from Audi being very generous with power in this car. When APR measured it before tuning it, it put down 582 hp and 563 ft-lb (762Nm) of torque with 93US/98EUR Octane. So its got slightly more power and slightly more torque. Since i have not seen any Dynos of the CLS i can't tell for sure if its got its exact power rating or has as well more power and the transmission really loses that much time shifting gears. Just a try to clarify a little more and bring in a new view on the results.
