Dom not taking sides here, but per their video-- it was the emergency backup that was faulty, if the hood had been all the way closed it would have been a non issue.
I watched both your videos on your S4 and have to say they've actually helped me a lot. My wife's next car is likely going to be an A4/S4 or an A6 and you're providing a lot of good info on helping me make that decision. We were leaning toward the sportier S4 because of the styling and the fact that my wife wants something cooler after 2 decades in a minivan or crossover. You saying how the back seat is not really useful for adults though has me leaning toward the A6 now since we still have to cart our 3 late teen boys around with us every once in a while. Thanks for the info and keep the good content coming.
I bought my S4 in July and I've already put 17,000 miles on it. The S4 is the best car to daily IMO, it's great. And a lot of the service is easy enough to do by yourself
the attitude of "if you don't maintain, the invoices will keep getting bigger" is the attitude the dealers want you to have. if you are aware and follow all the systems of the car yourself, more or less, no one can toss you about that way. Also, audis have two types of services - the small service (i live in a metric country so i won't translate what mileage determines what items changed) and the large service. Look in your service/maintanance leaflet/book, whatever it's called in US. It describes precisely what needs to be replaced at what mileage, and no dealer can tell you otherwise. And no, a car at 20-30 k miles does not need bleeding brakes (unless the owner complains expressly the brakes have gotten "mushy"), and neither does it need the window wash fluid topped up for 20 bucks. If you find an honest dealer, make sure he always fills out and stamps the service leaflet/book, as that's the only reason you visit him in light of future resell value. That and the fact that you don't have a garage or are too lazy to maintain the car yourself. One thing you absolutely want to keep up with, or even exceed (i.e., replace at shorter intervals), is the engine oil for any turbo/supercharged vehicles.
Watching the ad now for the benefit of the channel still, but outside the Audi Care which is usually under 2k- my S5 had $0 cost of ownership. Also love how your "weekend car" gets better MPG than your daily, that was hilarious.
Great you mentioned insurance and gas tho. Always always check insurance before buying a car, my 5k 2014 Fiat costs more on insurance, than my 2017 cars.
Upgrades/ mods you might consider in the future: •APR flash tune •Roc Euro intake - supercharger whine! •AWE touring exhaust - sounds great without being loud inside •Lightweight wheels - less unsprung weight and a unique touch
I got a 2012 s4 prestige package. I bought it with 60k miles on it. I always upgrade my car so it is pointless to buy new or lease considering it took me having it 3 days to get it to APR tuning. So far I had supercharger pulley upgrade, cold air intake, stage 3 93 octane tune, down pipes and upgraded to powerstop brake rotors and pads high performance. I have to schedule next appointment in a few weeks for supercharger cooling system, underdrive pulley, throttle body upgrade and transmission tune. Then I will be done. Maybe better mufflers but that's it. Love the s4 though lol makes people in mustangs, wrx and Camaros say wtf just happened lmao
Lol no offense but you sound like a stereotypical pompous Euro brand driver - you listed tons of crazy upgrades for a already expensive car, then mention how you target a Camaro and Mustang?
@@Justinlifts365 Not sure what you mean? Id imagine this car is pretty fast, I was just saying its almost seal clubbing going after most Camaros and Mustangs on the road lol.
@Robert whittle Not even close with the upgrades he has. Bus loads of walking will ensue when you encounter a Shitstang or Slowmaro. It's what happens each and every time I run one of said shitboxes in my Ultrachraged S5......
Great video. My brother drives a 2015 Nissan GTR and I told him to check out your channel. My sister brought a 2015 BMW X5 and she loves your channel. We are all Asian Americans originally from India but born here. Thank you for the excellent videos, Ravi
This casual kind of video is great, but the quality of the content will depend much on the topic you choose, buying vs. leasing is a great one I think, keep it up Eddie!
AudiCare covers services through 45k and is a great deal at ~ $850 when you have a DSG. The DSG fluid flush is what makes the 35k service so expensive.
That is also dealership costs. You can do it yourself for about $30 normal lube shops anywhere from $65 - $109 depending on "brand" of oil and or services offered at the shop.
its actually full synthetic and costs $200 for not just the oil change but also an inspection rotation etc. you can't change it yourself because there is a special tool that needs to be used by Audi or a dealer. I have the A4 and i pay around $110 a year to change the oil you don't get it changed every month its every 10000 miles.
speaking of dealership, whenever you buy something from there for parts always haggle the price down and once you manage to do that ALWAYS SAVE THE RECEIPT for future use, incase they increase the price on you because they always do
I have always done my own maintenance on Audis, bmws and Mercedes for the last 15 yrs. what scares me is how much audis depreciate......look up some prices, many under 10k.
DarkstarDarth yeah, because people who but euro luxery buy new. There's the stigma of buying a 7 year old used Audi and having to face high repair cost.
Excellent video man I've been wanting to know these answers for years and no one could answer these real questions, yea it's fun in all buying the car but I want to know what I have to deal with to keep it
I take my car to Steve's European Automotive in Waterford, MI. They do awesome work and also work on all types of exotics. They also do APR tunes and know TONS about Audis! hope this helps.
So basically, there is no maintenance aside from all of the baloney cash grabs put out by the dealer that a lot of owners fall for. Just like any preppy car. "The 25k maintenance" more like "if you've driven this far with nothing wrong, bring it in, we'll charge 1000 dollars so we can find something wrong, then we'll charge you to fix what we found wrong." Yeah, I would not be going to any of those bullcrap maintenance things. If your car is fine, and your belt isn't cracking, your life is fine. Buy your own fluids and top off your own fluids and just keep driving.
I'm such a big fan of you and your reviews Eddie! Keep up the great work! As like you, I love cars and your reviews really keep me in an optimistic mindset for my future man. I am hoping one day I can own the cars that I've seen you review for myself.
I have a 2011 c300 w204, and every 10k miles is a oil change, however at 40k it will run over 2k, oil change, brake fluid change, transmission fluid change, engine air filter change etc topping off of the fluids blah blah blah. but a lot of these things must be done by the dealer, side note: did you know that mercedes uses fleece filters for the oil? this is the reason I choose the dealership as opposed to an indy mechanic , but if you keep your car long enough continue to go to the dealership, or as some call it the stealership.
I think someone else already mentioned it, maybe, but how about a video like this, only in the i8? That car is amazing! Also curious to know what kind of fuel economy you're getting as a real-world owner of it?? The i8, I mean.
35k service is for the DSG fluid change. That's why it's so pricey. Audicare would've been a smart bet as it includes that 35k service and several oil changes for less than the cost of the 35k service alone. Met you at LA fitness last summer.. Not sure if you remember my meteor gray b8 s4
25 thousand miles service interval ?! here in Europe every car has 10-20 thousand mile intervals, with a very good reason (oil change is the best thing you can do for your engine)..
Hi Eddie, Great review! I have a B8.5 as well. Would you consider upgrading to the B9 or waiting for the RS4? I know this is your second car, curious as to your thoughts. Thanks for your videos!!
Kawaii Hannah I know he is but consistent uploads is what grows your channel and I want to see him do well. He might not think anyone's paying attention since his followers isn't where it used to be but we know he's talented enough to do it..... and I like watching his reviews
Please do leasing vs purchasing i've been confused on it for a while 😂 Also could you do a video on rather to buy from a big dealership vs a small dealership? I know a lot of people don't trust any of them but could you give the pros and cons of those too maybe?
akg 102 so, in other words, leasing = waste of money and purchasing means you will own it after it is paid off. All of your language did not avoid this fact. Leasing forces you to pay an up front fee and a monthly fee that is usually higher than a finance fee. By the time your lease is over, you paid for all the depreciation and you own nothing for it.
So you had a CPO vehicle with a warranty but they still charged you for service? I went to an Audi dealership the other day to look at a CPO S4 and I was told that the warranty covers service fees, unless I misinterpreted something
You said the window sticker was $60,000 and paid under $40,000. Can you please either tell me how to talk my local dealer down for when I buy my car or could you post a video on how to talk down a car dealer. I'm a student and any savings I could talk down a dealer would really help. Thanks!
I'd like to see you maybe go to some cool car meets, car shoes, and rally's. That would make some great content along with your normal awesome videos :)
Any plans to go w/ APRs Ultra Charger? I have an A6 w/ the same motor and I just did the stage 2 ( tune and pulley). It's at 380 AWHP. With my A6 on a trip I get 30-33 on long trips. Not sure if the transmission difference is what causes that difference or not.
Cheap in the US damn. A certified S4 with that milage would cost around 70.000 dollar in the Netherlands. One with 50.000 miles and 2,5 years old will cost you 45K here. A brand new almost 100k
NZT Tube thats crazy. I can find 08' S4's around 10-12k in Michigan wit 70,000 mileage. You can find slightly older ones around the same milage as low as 7k usually
hate to say it this way but stop being lazy and do it yourself. had the time to make a ranting video, youll find the time to do research and ect to do a simple oil change and ect yourself. harbor freight sells all the tools youll need super cheap... dont be scared to get dirty or to ask questions. everyone has to start somewhere
Eddie I know at first it seemed bad, but you branching off from Parker and making your own channel when you did was a GREAT idea, now you will have a large following of your own just like porker =)
Hey Eddie, I own this exact vehicle (black on black/red) as a daily driver and I love it. Do you ever mess with Drive Select and if so, what mode do you find yourself using? Cheers.
well hello there good sir! :) I think BMW threw in the service, but I'd be super curious to hear how his MPGs are and also the insurance is probably killer on there!
I know you're not really a part of Vehicle Virgins any more, but do you have any recommendations for a teenager's first car (for me, particularly under $10k, under 75k miles, automatic, and 2000 and newer)?
Not sure if you answer this type of questions, I recently bought a 2014 S4 with 40k miles. It has me a little worried that when I make a sharp turn into a drive way or parking in general a sharp turn going slow the car feels rough even like a very small shake on tires and steering. Is this normal on an all wheel drive? I've never driven an all wheel drive.
Hi Eddie, Fellow B8.5 S4 owner here. Did you get Audi Care on the car? I believe you prepay a percentage of the maintenance but over time the scheduled maintenance equates to a lower rate. Also what mods do you have planned?
Just an FYI, I've read they flush the DCT fluid at 45K which can be expensive at the dealer though it's covered under Audi Care. I also want to do Exhaust/Intake, Stg.2+Pulley eventually. All best, looking forward to seeing what you do with the car.
I've also been looking into getting an s4. I started my search a few months ago but was quickly scared off by the timing chain tensioner, and cam adjuster failure issure. I was wondering if the newer audis suffered from the same issue or of the resolved it at some points? If so/not so what years were effected?
Really would love the Q and A type videos!!! Also, I don't really mind if the sun is in your face so there's no need to pause and then talk again. #TeamEddieX
That's pretty normal in Michigan. Until very recently, they mandated maximum PIP coverage for all drivers in addition to being a no-fault state. This led to Michigan being in the top 10 most expensive states for car insurance.
Yea you really have to shop around. Here in Quebec, Canada the quotes are considerably different between Insurance companies. For instance the most expensive quote was $190/month, and on top of that the Audi needs to have a gps tracker installed which costs around $500. They refuse to insure you if you don’t have the tracker. The cheapest quote I got was $91/month (a $100 difference for the same car) and a tracker was NOT a requirement. When purchasing a luxury vehicle, the main battle is with the insurance companies.
