I read articles citing the S8 does 0-60 in ~4.1 seconds vs. the W222 S63 4matic in ~3.9 seconds. But then, until I see an article comparing them side-by-side, I will not jump to conclusions. Will be interesting to see the race when the S63 4matic arrives.
I'm surprised how the audi keeps up with a Stage 3 S65 AMG, if the the AMG wasn't tuned the audi would've destroyed it. ( I'm a Benz fan, but not as blinded as some fanboys )
I agree. From what I understand, the S8 is underrated at 520HP. It's actually closer to 600. Now with the AMG tuned to 700+HP, which is very easy, seeing as it already make 620 from that factory, S8 would need some work done by MTM or APR, would get it to 650-700HP range. THEN the S8 would probably eat the S65 AMG alive. Albeit, I still want Audi to release an RS8, a true hardcore version of an A8. With 650+HP with either a more powerful version of this V8, or turbo W12 compete with the S65.
The Man Nothing with "underrated". The Audi makes exactly 520 PS and not more. Maybe some units spread up to 535 but that's it Why should Audi make a 80 PS present?
Tim Tim Check the video from Mototrend where they dynoed a stock S8 and you will be surprised that alot of dynos around on forums say the same thing...

tell me about this stone age gearbox.. it is the same one on my 6.4 charger.. 3rd gear ends at 197kph and once i go into 4th the car power heavily drops.
I respectfully disagree with a lot you say. Cost is, in fact, a very important consideration when buying a car. Base Price of an S8 is $112,500 with the base price of the S65 AMG is about $212,000. A $100,000 difference is HUGE, how could anybody not "care about how much it costs"? Yeah the S8 is 8 years newer, but the incoming S63 is new, and so far no one has proven it is faster than the S8, one reviewer even got a 4.3 0-60, but it was on wet track, and it will be about $30K more expensive.
First off, like I said before, the R8 V10 Plus is also TWICE the cost of the C63 Black, but could only achieve an identical time around the Nurburg'ring. Second, who in their right mind compares the C63 Black to the S8? They are two completely different cars no matter what their msrp is, and you are comparing RWD to AWD in the 1/4 mi, which is an obvious advantage for the S8. Also, the C63 has a much higher trap speed in the 1/4 mi, meaning that in a 1/2 it would pull bus lengths ahead of the S8
If you bothered to do your research, a lot of what you said is false. The C63 black is not faster on the quarter mile than the S8 (and they both cost the same). The R8 V10 plus is faster at 0-60 and quarter mile than the SLS GT, and the R8 V10 Plus posts the same drag numbers as the SL65 black, despite being over 100 grand cheaper. The SLS black is fast as hell, but also costs 100 grand more than anything Audi has to offer. Mercedes prices itself out of the competition. Check your inbox

How do you mean in my opinion? You really think the people buying these kind of cars care about how much they are spending, for the price of these cars is more than some peoples houses( the Audi included). Audi does not make the rs8 because the market is too small; the s63 and s65 sales numbers reveal a niche market for large executive class performance cars, a niche too small for audi to justify building it; its the same reason bmw doesnt make an m7. The s63 seems awesome, and a lot cheaper than the s65, so it may compete more readily with the s8. But its still going to be almost 30 grand more expensive. Autoweek already reviewed it overseas, but only got a 4.3s 0-60, but it was on wet track.
The s8 must have been tuned it's no lighter than the s65 nor does it have even close to the torque the s65 has you say stage 3 ? I say bullshit or you are heavily tuned, if I remember correctly an properly tuned s65 can have close to 1,000ft lbs of torque not to mention your supposedly pulling on stunned new cls63 and he only passes you until high speeds ?? Btw this s65 does not have 700hp and if you didn't notice the cls beat the shitty Volkswagen as well and if you didn't see the s65 killed the Audi I don't know about you but if one car loses to another by 5+ car lengths that's considered getting spanked period
I agree that 5 car lengths is considered getting spanked when the cars have same Hp but this is not the case here... The Audi is stock 520hp and the MB is tuned 700+ hp so 5 car lengths is nothing. And the pull from 01:00 to 1:30 was more like 2,3 car lengths...
And why you think they do a rolling start. I will tell you why, they do it that way because if they start from 0 the benz will have to use optics to see the Audi's ass.
All you mercedes fanboys fail to realize that there is a huge price difference between these two cars; you can buy TWO S8's for the price of ONE S65 AMG. Given the fact that the S8 is half the price, I think it does a great job of keeping with the mercedes. And with the price difference you can tune that S8 to smoke anything mercedes has to offer. Its that simple
The facts are simple. C63 Black > RS4 / RS5. E63 S > RS6 / RS7. SLS GT > Audi R8 V10, V10 Plus, R8 GT. The SLS Black Series isn't even needed in this conversation because the SLS GT achieved a better lap time on the Nurburg'ring then ANY version of the R8, ever. The Black Series SLS would just be overkill.
