I don't know if it's a law, but in germany we learn: "only pass a car if you're going at least 20km/h faster". These cars in this video were going at the _exact_ same speed next to each other instead of behind each other. Jeez... The right lane was completely empty! You're supposed to drive as far right as possible, and go left if you want to go faster than what's in front of you.

About 12mi of the most beautiful interstate there is. (Though they have very advanced equipment to track car movement, including speed, from a main traffic office, so you probably want to keep your speed down there, even when you don't have the one-lane delay you had there. I heard a bit about this story before -- on this channel, I'm pretty sure -- but I didn't realize it happened in Glenwood Canyon. That's so sad!)

I really don’t understand why you wouldn’t pass people in the right lane more... I would sit in the right lane most the time it’s open... left lane drivers get picked off first by the cops anyway. I got frustrated watching this seeing all the minutes that could’ve been shaved off just by going faster and not waiting for people to get over, instead of just blowing by them in the right lane... waiting for people to get out of the left lane when the right lane is wide open is like waiting for the grass to grow. Are you trying to set a record or trying to see people move out of your way. Don’t wait for them to move out of your way, just anticipate them not moving over and just get over in the other lane and fly by them... hold your momentum more and you get more openings and get stuck less behind cars next to each other...

Why are there so many in the left and middle lane while not overtaking? Is this common in US??

Yup. Most Americans just randomly pick a lane and stay in it

Lane discipline is something other nations do isn’t it. Not one driver in this video exhibits any form of lane discipline.

I mean not to take away from the incredible Cars and such but....why not start outside of the City so you don´t endanger Pedestrians and other Vehicles by running Red Lights and such. You can still drive fast but just don´t do it in the City smh. There´s Reasons why you stop at Red Lights....

Insanely cool to see this footage of a real cannonball run. To my knowledge there isn’t a European version. Or is there?
@mnoovurvi
@mnoovurvi 3 года назад
It's pretty hard to do something like this here. In the UK it's absolutely impossible to cover large distances fast. Germany is free, for eastern europe you will need a bit of money to bribe the police, I am not sure what's the situation with the rest of europe like Belgium, the netherlands, austria, etc. But camera technology here is different, they use laser cameras, so radar detectors do not work. You will need car with foreign plates of country you do not cross and hope police don't chase you.

A8 4.2 tdi t.speed 186mph - 300km/h and additional fuel tank = gas stops are gone.

and how long does it take for the car to reach 300? top speed doesnt matter if it takes ages to reach it and diesels are known for having bad high rpm performance.

3400rpm 8th gear
@Robin-hi8oq
@Robin-hi8oq 3 года назад
@@Adryqpoe005 are you saying its doing 3400rpm at 300? also the car weighs 2700kg, that is very very heavy for top speed, it takes about 35 seconds for the car to do 100-250kmh, that's horrible for cannonball
@onelyone6976
@onelyone6976 3 года назад
@@Robin-hi8oq well if it's possible to skip fuel stops entirely that's already 10 min saved, and if it can truly cruise at 3400 rpm at top speed fuel economy won't even be too bad. If the 4.2tdi isn't powerful enough, there always is the vw V12 diesel which also is a le Mans winning engine
@mnoovurvi
@mnoovurvi 3 года назад
@@Robin-hi8oq It's not 2700kg. Not even a long wheel base phantom weighs that. The A8 is around 2 tonnes, it is not heavier than the S8.
