I was looking for an A4 estate B7 Tdi, but read nothing but terrible reviews of the 2.0 (siemens injector failure, oil pump failure leading to turbo or entire engine failure, cracked cylinder heads and timing tensioner issues). So now thinking about the 3.0 V6. Can't seem to find any issues other than timing chain tensioner failure. What's your take on the 3.0 in the B7?
Do you guys still have the Audi? How did you get on with an MOT this year if it’s had one? I’ve got the 2.7 and am getting one made up. Just wanna know how you were with an MOT. Mine also had no dpf from factory

I have a BMW 535d, original 286 hp, tuned to 400 hp. Things i have done: Dpf-off, cat-off, (downpipe) stage 2 remap, egr-off, bigger intercooler, KN-panel air filter. Now, that the car is tuned, I can imagine these original mufflers holding back a lot of power. I have plan to remove center muffler and rear muffler and drive with straight pipes. Can i except 25-30 hp gain?
ive got a stage1 3.0 tdi a7 that had its muffler delete at simons and had a merc (om651)muffler deleted and duplexed there too so i should be biased towards diesel here, however very subtle change due to dpf, for a slight bit more deep rumble im contemplating a secondary cat delete to the a7 and leaving dpf as standard but this may not make any difference? , Sorry as i feel the dpf removal just sounds tryhard annoying and pimped tractor like! With experience on petrols over the years i got bros standard mk7.5 gti just a resonator delete at simons and it is a very very nice balance of deeper burble and gear change spits, so in my humble opinion if you want a nice sounding car you are better sticking with a petrol
Sounds great I've just bought a Audi Q5 3Tdi v6 FULL ABT body kit looks the dogs but sounds poor quad pipes at back don't sound good at all would removing both mufflers make much difference what you think
Absolutely drone, but also a sound that I enjoy. If the exit pipes at the back are pointed out beyond the back bumper that will help. So will keeping the catalytic converters.
vPerformance, so I have an A6 3.0tdi, and am thinking I will remove the rear mufflers but leave the rest intact, as I have emission testing, the interior noise shouldn’t be too great correct?? I just don’t want to be on a trip and having my head rattling off because of the drone

The drone was pretty loud, but I liked it. Not much difference in the cabin between the muffler delete and the full straight pipe, but definitely much louder from the outside of the car!
Just had the rear mufflers deleted. Sounds much nicer outside. Feel more power less restrictive, drone is minimal I might take out the secondary cat and leave the main cat in which can act like a silencer lol.
I have the same car i think this video makes me want to do a straight pipe dam, but i might go custom with sound control flap, that way if i go with a 3inch i can reduce the sound from police.
So I was thinking of straight piping a bmw 435d, but with emissions regulations you'd fail an MOT with smoke coming out, how noticeable will the smoke be? Should there be a lot, there seems to be very little in this video
what power are you aiming to get out of the asb engine? , not really much tuning available for them as they cant run a gtb turbo and the stock bv50 is pretty rubbish
Hey I would be happy if you could tell me if it's normal for b7 3.0 tdi to have really deep sound while idling... I have BKN with no dpf and no cats and it's not loud at all while driving but has that deep rumble on idle and sometimes sound like I have a second soobwoofer in my car... Cheers 😀
Ah, fair enough :) I've got the BMK, but pre tax band hike, so I'm lucky there. But my friend also has a BMK, but after the tax band changed so he's probably paying the same as you (ouch!)
@@vPerformance chocolate my arse. My C6 3. 0 is 300bhp and has done 195k it was mapped and so was the gearbox at 80 k no issues at all. Two gearbox services as reccomended by ZF.
@@vPerformance the multitronic in the fwd versions are chocolate, the zf6hp in the Quattros are alright. Mines on 227k and still functions well considering 🤷♂️
If it doesn't leave the factory with DPF it does not require for MOT. Diesels aren't tested on emissions so catalytic converters are also not required.
What do say about that? "From February 2014 the inspection of the exhaust system carried out during the MoT test will include a check for the presence of a DPF. A missing DPF, where one was fitted when the vehicle was built, will result in an MoT failure. A vehicle might still pass the MoT visible smoke emissions test, which is primarily intended to identify vehicles that are in a very poor state of repair, whilst emitting illegal and harmful levels of fine exhaust particulate. (www.ukmot.com/DPF-Diesel-Particulate-Filters.asp) So if I block my EGR, cut DPF and catalytic converter still have chance to pass MOT?
Yep it was the last few months before DPF became mandatory. There's a sticker in the boot with codes you can read to see what it has. I think DGN is the non-dpf code if i remember correctly.
How about a twin turbo setup, one on each side of the V? Cheap Ebay turbos should do. No intercoolers and water/meth injection to cool the charge before hitting the inlet manifold. Can the VGT be deleted?
