This is one of, if not the best video about the TT-RS platform I’ve found on RU-vid. For a while I wasn’t sure about what the difference was between the ‘plus’ and ‘non-plus’ version, but this cleared most of it up. I wish there were more content creators on here with the 8J RS.
Thank you for the comment man! I’m trying to build up to eventually afford a RS car. Currently stuck at the VW level but once I get a RS I will be making content with it.
Dreamed of owning this car for 10 years. Leased a 2012 TT, then owned a 2017 TT S for 3 yrs. My 2021 TT RS in Glacier Wht Metallic arrives this week. And now I own my dream car 🙂
Have a Stage 1 tuned 2019 in the White! Absolutely beautiful! I have never taken the car out without someone commenting on how good it looks or taking a video of it! My youngest daughter just thinks that’s so cool!!
I have the 1st year mk3 ttrs 2018 in Merlin Purple. I love this car so much. Have a lot of aftermarket mods from audi sport and abt for design braking suspension exhaust cooling... Looking to add some power here shortly!
I have a TT RS manual and will probably keep it for the rest of my life. I'm not rich but this car makes me feel like an absolute baller and is great fun to drive
I have a 12’ RS w/ manual and it’s a really good car right out the box. I’ve toyed with the idea of replacing it with something else, but always end up changing my mind 😂
Just picked up my 2022 TTRS Heritage Edition-1. Traded my 2013 TTRS manual for the new edition and I do not miss the 6 speed at all. Smooth and fast. Awesome car!
I have a TTRS soft top 2018 Water ingress is an issue i battle with watch out for it in the passenger footwell but oh man what a car! what a sound I will never sell it!
Really appreciate for these contents. None of anyone makes this topic before. So far ttrs was my only one dream car. I'm trying to make money for that and also looking forward to get it. But some people said why is ttrs not porsche. But you know..about dream car. It has no reason right?
The last gen TTRS is both port and direct injection fuel system, so no carbon buildup. The prices for the 2018 and newer TTRS is at the price of what they cost new here in Canada.
I have a mk3 ttrs. I have only modified suspension components to improve understeer. I have kept the engine stock. I track my car and love it when GT3s have to work really hard to get by me.😁
I think people underestimate how we will grow to appreciate the DCTs of this era. This segment of car is being replaced by fully electric variants, just like the DCTs replaced the manuals. I don't think the TT RS manual can compare to my R8 with a more rev happy NA engine and a gated shifter. With the DCT though, it becomes more energetic than the R8, seeing as it pulls from lower down the rev range and the turbo barely drops boost between gear changes. I hope to add a 2019+ TT RS to my garage at some point, because I think we will miss the S-tronic more than we realize right now.
lol ya prices have gone up since I made this video but I have seen a few TTRS for under $50k still. not from a DEALERSHIP. Also if you waited 3 more month that 15k markup would no longer be a thing car prices in the used market are dropping fast which mean deals will have to reduce there markups soon. Hope she enjoys the car.
I own a MK3 TTS with Revo Stage II tune. I’ve never got a dyno test so I have no idea what the current HP is but it’s a beast and the Milltek exhaust and downpipe sound insane. I too thought I would keep this car for the rest of my life but the constant reliability issues got the best of me. I’m now in 3000 status on my C8 Stingray order. 😮
@@brucebruce479 there is a design flaw with the brake calipers. It has an extra piston thing to keep the pads secure but this can cause an insane brake noise. I was unsuccessful at making the noise go away. I went through 4 pairs of pads and rotors trying to fix it. I love my C8!
Great video about the TT 🙌 Always been my dream car, and very happy that I got my TT RS 2022 Nardo Grey earlier this year..living fully up to my expatations, super fast and fun to drive :)
I like my old plus car. Handling is amazing. Was big set with building it up,but now kinda just set on keeping stock with bolt ons. Going to throw a different tune and new injectors in it and call it good.
GTR are great cars! Just a little over played out and the fit and finish is not the same. The TTRS is way nicer. But bang for you buck performance wise yea the GTR is a great option
@ThreePedalGarage Yea, the audi definitely more luxurious with a more "premium" feel that probably a better chick magnet... But as the whole skyline/gtr always being my Dream car, and me personally not caring about overall comfort vs performance, I'd have to go for a gtr.... I was in the market for the last gen ttrs with 6 speed but then covid happend and I never ended up buying...
@ThreePedalGarage thanx bro... but now Toyota threw a wrench in my plans with the manual supra and now rumors of a future S58 supra model and nissan Z... Although I'd still take the gtr for the right price...
All of this hype about manuals these days is just bizarre. I get it, people like holding a stick in their hand and associate having the added control and interaction with the car as involving more skill. It doesn't. Facts: Audi's dual clutch is sublime, its way way faster than a manual, its easy to use, your hands stay planted on the wheel and it responds in milliseconds to inputs which just helps make the car what it is. It just feels like the old vinyl vs MP3 debate, vinyl sucks in pretty much every aspect, speed, quality & convenience, but people still crave it because they're nostalgic and "better" is not a reality, it's just a view point. I've driven manuals all of my life, but even I can recognise the reality which is that the modern sport autos kill manual in every aspect, thats why they're fitted to cars like the GTR. I know it's hard, but you need to embrace technology and stop getting boners over holding your sticks. Auto boxes overtook them a long long time ago, it's time to just let go and move on. If you disagree, please get in touch, I have a minidisc player taking up space in my cupboard and I have a feeling you're made to be together.
I completely agree with you a DSG setup is far more superior then a Manual, there is no comparison. I enjoy driving a manual more though. Main reason I am not racing the car and I don’t need to be going 100 mph. So I do not need the quick and snappy shift. Shifting gears is way more interactive and for me more enjoyable to me. If I was going to have a drag car or a 100% race car then yes I would get a DSG all day.
I have both LOL... TTRS manual, RS5 auto, GTI Manual... RS5 is faster (and fun) but the TT RS is still more fun and the GTI although way slower is right there in the fun department... that's really the bottom line. I really don't understand auto pushers problem with it. You take your "faster" auto Corolla, I'll take my "slower" manual Viper... ie: something is always faster, especially if you throw money in the ring. Fun, that's more subjective and should be... I won't push my manual on you but please stop pushing your auto on me as I will have fun as I see fit.... Again, really, that's the part that Auto pushers seem to have lost.
@@stoatythesecond888 technology doesn't dictate in all cases though... look at the guy who bought the LP pressing factory for next to nothing... With the resurgence of albums (driven a great deal by a generation that didn't have access to them originally) he is making a killing. People realized that there was some merit in actually owning a concrete album vs pretend music in the cloud. (again I value both) At some point in time the auto "faster" and "tech rules" folks will be debating who's self driving car is faster LOL... I predict that there will be push back against technology somewhere along the line when you have to buy cars that are self driving. There always is a point when tech encroaches far enough that the "fun" factor doesn't exist anymore. So push technology... that's fine until it isn't...
I agree with you to a point. The TT line has always been about styling. The TTRS looks a LOT better than a Golf R, inside and out. And that 5 cyl engine sounds SO much better than the 2.0. Stage 1 TTRS is putting out 476 hp. All that being said, I think a more accurate comparison would be to an S3, and in that case, yes, I'd take the manual Golf R over it.
Idk about that. They hold their value pretty damn well and at about the 5 year mark they have depreciation a good amount so you can have money left over for repairs when they do come up.
Traded the training wheels TT J8 Black Manual 1.8 for a TTRS J8 Black Manual and no one noticed for a while, but I did the Understeer. 😞 Love it otherwise!
