Just an update on my progress for everyone! First off I had nothing to do with the final mix of this video so lets all just calm down about that and stop being trolls. Second - I still work in the studio with one band on their music and I don't work in live sound anymore. I moved full time into post production and freelance a ton in production sound mixing, post production for film and TV and podcasting. Before taxes this past year I made $90,000 - so if you work hard, network your butt off and love what you do you can be very successful in a short amount of time! Thanks for watching!
Kelly, I loved your video. Don't listen to all the trolls. Of course you didn't mix this Khan Academy video. You are driven and talented, and it was generous of you to agree to share your experience and advice in this video.
Excellent feedback. Thank you for sharing your story. As someone who is interested in audio engineering, I listened to every word that you said and will take your advice.
Who is this girl I love her spirit and would love to form a paid connection between my artist and her and grow together. i hope someone from her camp replies to me and gets in contact with me ASAP!
This is very inspiring. I’m going to try my hand into audio engineering for post-production and maybe folley design. So, this gives me a better idea on what to expect to get into the industry.
This is a very accurate perspective on the industry, its very hard to get into and it often takes a large amount of experience and aggressive marketing to maintain a consistent income as a lot of the work is seasonal
Do you need to be able to play an instrument to go into music/audio engineering because I want to go into it, but if I need to play an instrument... There’s no way I’d go for it! 😭🤦🏽♀️
Guest1 Guest1 hey I asked at a college and they said that you’re not required to play an instrument but that I should know a little bit about the software that they use
Hey dude. I'm really skeptical in going into this field because I hear the pay is low. I wanna be able to have enough money to pay all my bills/rent and have enough to save and play with. Will you be able to live comfortably?
@@jeremydiaz5172 Hey man, I am an engineer for years now. I have to say, I'm not American, I don't even make 12k (dollars, i can't really live comfortably I'm doing other things in the mean time) a year, though i can tell you this industry is EXTREMELY exhausting. You'll hear anything from "freelance, it's better" to "work for a studio or live sound company". Freelancing you can make more money, but you work your ass off. Then again if you work you way up to the point you can start your own live sound company, you can go to the 80k range in the states from what I've heard.
Jeremy Diaz I personally know quite a few Engineers that make a good living, these guys are 22-25 with a house of there own and living comfortably, but they also weren’t lazy ,you must make yourself as valuable as possible and try to learn literally everything about audio and put yourself out there
