I’m not an audiophile. Those people are crazy. But I know a nice stereo when I hear one and I have fairly good stuff myself. So having said that… I can tell you… sometimes whether you’re drinking beer or drinking whiskey… and how much… your perception of your equipment can change. Any one of those amps paired with those speakers and the right song can bring tears to your eyes with right amount of alcohol. Life is good. 👍
Yep, you reiterated my thoughts after hearing the Yamaha, it's what worked for me after listening to your respective comparisons. I currently have new Rotel components, one of their mid-range pre-amps and their 200 wpc amp and enjoy them greatly, but I've decided to start saving my pennies for a Yamaha AS-3200. I want to enjoy the experience before my hearing is gone.
I also own a Rotel RB-1582 MK2, if that was the amp you meant. My other amp is a Yamaha A-s1000, the predecessor of the one featured here. For some speakers i prefer the Rotel, for some the Yamaha! My impression of numerous comparisons is that the Rb-1582 has got som extra lower midrange warmth/emphasis. Yamaha As-1000 more neutral in the whole audio spectrum.
@@enduro500sp Yep, that's my amp, coupled with the Rotel 1572 MKII pre-amp. I'm currently playing it through three types of speakers: Revel F208s, Dynaudio F 140s, and Totem Forests (I also have Klipsch Cornwalls but they're too big for my room). I concur with your evaluation; however, it's the highs that are bothering me as they're a tad too bright.
My biggest audio regret is that i did not buy the AS-1100 when it was on sale for about 1050 euros here in Europe! For clarification that number is about the same in Dollars
I too own an 1100 Yamaha hands-down is a very smooth sounding amp. It’s almost across between tube and solid state. I do not use a deck. I have an older Marantz SACD player. along with a fluance RT 85/oraphon blue cartridge in a pair of klipsch La scalas
I have been going back and forth between a Yamaha A-S801 and a Rotel A11 Tribute and while the Tribute sounds really good it just doesn’t crank like the Yamaha. The Tribute is a good bedroom amp. The Yamaha is a way better main room amp for bigger speakers.
I'm running a Yamaha A-S1200 with Harbeth C7ES-3 speakers. The sound is simply amazing! I have a Rogue Cronus Magnum iii sitting around. I'm slowly going down the Amp Polygamy rabbit hole. I'm Lab 12/Luxman/Accuphase curious...
@stereopolice thank you for your videos. You know from my perspective one of the thinks that have significant influence on soul is a volume control. I saw that you change volume on the preamplifier. Have you listened to comparison between changing the volume on the preamplifier versus amplifier? I think preamplifier could win, but I'm interested in your opinion & Thank you
Some of the older Yamaha preamps and amps were amazing. I had the C2-A and it was one of the best preamps I have owned in my 50 years in the audio game. Never should have sold it.
The Luxman does everything right but sometimes thats not enough, specially when Yamaha provides with something special and hardly definable. As an example: When just before the vocals start, the cellos kick in, the Yamaha transmits all the dramatism thats supposed to be felt by the listener as opposed to just an accurate depiction of sound, if this makes any sense... well thats what I sensed from the video.
I did listen to a newer A-S1200...........seemed more typical having an upper bump .....the 1100 might be be more natural and less for addictive " audiophiles " ........newer is indeed not always better even it couild be and have at first auditioning a more impressive performance but for no longer than a few demos.. Some kind of listening fatigue ( happens to often ) on very impressive sounding high end is revealing that something is ..........WRONG !
