The A/T diaphragm is roughly 314 square millimeters using Pi*radius squared. The Maono is 907 square millimeters. The Maono is NOT SLIGHTLY larger but has almost three times the aperature as the A/T.
The PM500T seems to more focus on the lower end, while the AT4040 is focused more in the top. I think the PMT500T is better suited for VO, while the AT 4040 might be great for an instrument recording. One thing I think 'VS' videos should do is, record both mics at the same time, and mix them 50/50 and see if they make a great combo.
