2023 comment...Gold Lions are phenomenal for current production. If you're new they are a great upgrade option over stock tubes. I like them better than JJs which are good too. Both are better than cheaper ones and all Chinese ones... The 4 vintage tubes on the bottom left 12AU7s are La Radiotechnique (Mazda) made in France (late 50's) and are among the best I've ever heard. I wish you could still find them.
I changed the two 12Ax7 JJ tubes for two Genalex Gold Lion tubes. The results were excellent center imaging improvements, and the vocals are silky smooth. It sounds like I just bought a more expensive amp. I'm going to change out the 12AU7 tubes with the same brand. Hopefully, I will get further improvements in sound.
Nice overview Richard. It's hard to break from tubes once you've had a good taste of their magic. Now if you can just find some old Mullards or Telefunkens.
Please, Richard, don't take it as offend but try to keep a distance from your mouth to the microphone consistent. The volume varies significantly throughout your video, man... Great and helpful video of yours would be perfect if you'd described what speakers you are using with this Vincent integrated?
Listening to music! Yeah that's the end goal and it's easy to get caught up in the weeds so to speak . I really like that set up Rich , so far which a tubes sound d the best to you ? Have you broken out the Steely Dan yet ? Take care and have a great weekend!
Well you need all of the Steely Dan albums , there's not a dud to be had .But! Do it again on can't buy a thrill is my reference song When I trying out speakers/carts/receivers . Is your head sore from banging it to MOP?
Richard you have a State of the Art Vincent intergrated amp.Why roll tubes.Your trying for perfection .Just sit back and enjoy the tunes.I used to work for an electronics warehouse.Back in 1970 tubes were still big but on the way out...They had Westinghouse ,RCA,GE tubes .
Those NOS tubes I put in then haven't been changed. 1 because I like them and 2 because at 81 I've gotten lazy. I'm retiring this year so maybe I'll get to all those tubes I purchased.
