Audioslave came to be when Rick Rubin suggested to the remaining member of RATM to find a new singer after Zach left the band. Soundgarden was on hiatus at the time so Rubin suggested Chris Cornell. And... as to where the song was used in media the first thing that comes to mind is Talledega Nights. If you want some more Chris Cornell goodness check out Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog, made up of members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam

Soundgarden broke up & ended, not on hiatus. This video signifies the formation of Audioslave. Chris coming directly from rehab and waiting atop the structure while the Rage band members pull up in a pickup truck below. The group hug in the end symbolizes the band.

@@DMKali They parted ways in 97 over a myriad of conflicts within the band, BUT... they came back together in 2012, released another album AND were working on a new album when Chris Cornell ended his life. Audioslave formed in 2001, during that HIATUS period. Google is free and easy to use, my friend.

The whole album is full of bangers. He really shredded his vocals on this one! If you want to sample a softer sound from Chris and the band, try Getaway Car. He can sing anything. Miss him.😢🤘

Yes, this was definitely giving off some Zeppelin vibes, (maybe even a little Aerosmith). We've all heard intense, all-in vocals before, as well as extreme grooves, but man, this combination still sounded incredible.

Rage went to Chris, actually, by insistence of Rick Rubin. His bests shows of his voice are in SG, actually. Slaves and Bulldozers, Beyond the Wheels, Black Rain, Cold Bitch or Birth Ritual are a few. And he did almost loose his voice twice in his life. One in 1995? during the Superunknown tour, and once after Audioslave broke (which is what you may notice in the AS last album: he developed noess in his throad). But he got better with time again, in both cases. By 2010, he sounded different than in the early 90's, but very good and with a healthy, if huskier, voice, that only improved afterwards. Can I recommend you guys Rusty Cage or Jesus Christ Pose for another Soundgarden Reaction?

Who knew?? Rick Rubin, it’s documented, the man is a genius! This video was to symbolize the formation of Audioslave. Chris up top waiting (direct from rehab, mind you) and the rest of the band pulling up in a pickup truck (Rage). I love Rage but they all stated working with Chris was the most important & “fruitful” experience they ever had.

Chris' vocal parts during the verses remind me of Plant from Led Zep a little. That energy though! One of the best rock/metal singers of all time, RIP. PS Oh, Nick mentioned Led Zep later on. So, there is something in this thought after all. :)

This is not my go to.... But I believe I like Audioslave better than Rage.... Because of Chris's voice. Loved the video more! Musically this is so good and innovative! Tom M. - he is great! Learned more about him on Dave Grohl's documentary about Rock N Roll moms. Mc Donald's Coke is the best!

You didn't hear Soundgarden beyond the wheel live or slaves and bulldozers . I think he's voice didn't change much he still had great voice until he died
