These sessions will always be super important to me because they showed Chris being human. The greatest rock singer ever can STILL have bad days, make mistakes, etc. I have a feeling he was sick during these performances. I'm so sad we never got to see a proper reunion with Tom, Brad, and Tim but so grateful we have 3 great albums to listen to forever.
Im guessing he cant hear himself properly. Hes holding his headphones almost the entire time. Its VERY difficult if not impossible to sing on key of you cant hear yourself
His voice is exhausted. He needs to sing "priest" in falsetto because it takes lots of muscle support to hit the "ee" sound at that note. He goes into falsetto there to deliberately to preserve the muscle strength. The chorus also sounds very "heady" which indicates additional air flowing through the glottis rather than going for high compression and distortion. Once again hitting the notes but preserving the available strength. Such a legend. So much love to Chris
Relative to former glory, his voice was shot by about 1996 or so. Not really a surprise. Just about anything off badmotorfinger or Superunknown is difficult to sing once at full power, let alone in a set day in and day out, year after year. He just didn't have that ability anymore at this point. The difficulty with pitch may very well be problems hearing himself, but he's always been a little pitchy live. These issues were less glaring previously and his great ability otherwise made it less of a focus.
Chris is having a tough time in this. He poured out everything he had to give for so long he's allowed to be human. He's the voice of a generation! RIP Chris. Luv ya bro!!
Chris RIP was obviously sick that day and still pull through a fucking epic session !! Absolute legend… those songs are some of the most difficult to sing
I do not agree with your saying. Studio live performance is very different from recording session to put in an album. You improvise more during live session, even you have right to change the original album singing. Chris Cornell is the one with its own amazing style of singing throughout rock era
All the people complaining about his voice. Two EXTREMELY difficult songs in a row and he ruled both of them, even experiencing some audio issues and probably not being 100% healthy. Chris and the guys showed why they were an impressive band. Love to all of them forever
Agree somewhat! Not an audioslave fan.. and Most ppl here are prolly under 40 and possibly never appreciate the difficulty of singing these pieces or understand his SG repertoire .. for which I think he does a commendable/exceptional job here.. Seen CC several times throughout his career and he’s up there with the best singers of all time irrespective of this performance which I still valued/enjoyed. RIP
Well said! Besides - anyone who criticises, just offered to step up and "play harder" So.....anyone really wanna go toe-2-toe with Cornell's catalogue of vocals?
Just to hear his voice again gives me chills. I appreciate ANYTHING that I haven't seen or heard before. I can't believe that I'll NEVER see him live again. Such memories since 1992.
Chris being human is what brought us here, whether it be pearl jam from the roots of Eddie or the honesty of Temple, this man raised and inspired a generation. You took to a pretty noose too soon my friend, but you will forever show us how to live.
In spite of so many comments with his voice. I still got goosebumps. Just the rawness of the whole band. Miss you, Chris. You are a major influence in my life. #noonesingslikeyouanymore
I know I'm not alone when I say that I wish Chris was still here.. Gone way too soon. Like Jimmy Hendrix and so many others, you'll live forever in the music you gave us while you were here. Thanks for posting these videos to ensure just that.
Chris Cornell is my motivation to sing heavy songs even though I'm a baritone like him. (probably low baritone in my case) He never knew that I exist but his voice told me that I can make a sound in heavy music if I train enough.
To anyone complaining about CC's voice here, in this era he did struggle with vocal issues. Rock n roll is about being human too. He gave his best this particular day and still sounded amazing.
Now he’s very gifted. I miss him so much. When I didn’t know my left to my right he gave me this unbelievable power!!! He will always live in me. Let’s rock!!!!
He's not dead - just merely went into hiding for awhile.. Can't you see? This is a message in a bottle to his true fans. He's still alive. These songs are a message to us. After how many years, six songs get uploaded a few hours ago? That's not random.
@@kcsunnyone what about what some people say ?. That Chris and Chester was preparing something to expose those dark souls who met with the childrens around the world
The boys sound freaking awesome!! Sounds like CC had a throat issue- but after giving us over 20 years of high octane singing, hitting notes that are sky high and generally kicking ass, I think we can forgive him for being human!!🖤
@@rebeccarosen6889 Yup! I know the difference! I meant "Octane" because the concerts were insane and high energy. I know CC had mad octave skills but the music was high octane- see the difference??? I don't know why you felt the need to point that out? Maybe putting people in their places is your thing, who knows! Have a great day 👍
Just a terrible day for Cornell. Fast forward to say 12 years later and see for yourself. He nails everything all the time. The fact that they decided to put this out even though Chris had major issues that day shows you they don’t care. The greatest voice in rock and roll history. Period.
@@ChrisP3000x You're kind of an hostile fella, aren't ya? Calm down, please, I'm not claiming anything. I just wanted to participate, not bother you! I said "I guess" because I don't know who "they" is supposed to be. The commentator said "they decided to put this out", meaning (I think) how "they" knew the recording wasn't good and they released it anyway. Also, I think this video is old on YT, because I've seen it years ago, but it's a relatively fresh upload on this channel.
Raw and unfiltered! The strain in Chris' voice, and riffs by the band show the dedication and "Soul Power" of this group. Never gets old. Absolutely Amazing!
Just to listen to the raw recording is amazing! I have loved these guys since the beginning. We were blessed to have Chris in our lives. To continue to have Tom and others is amazing.
Wow! One of my favorite lead guitarists Tom Morello and bass guitar player Tim Commerford with drummer Brad Wilk - all from one of my favorite bands RATM. Chris may not be ok here but still he was and is always one of my favorites. I'll never forget my ever first Soundgarden favorite Pretty Noose. May you be well up there Chris Cornell.🙏✝️🤘
Wow. God the more I intake, it's like a rock star had the jazz qualities we wish our pop singers had. With some equally creative musicality filled dudes around him. I knew I loved these songs for like ten years, but where was I twenty years ago? These are artists taking liberties and showing themselves by doing so. It comes out magic and they rock so hard. Everything we want.
Tom, Tim, Brad and Chris… inexplicably brilliant collaborators. Words fail miserably to describe the soul piercing delivery of their musical genius gifts. ❤RIP Chris, will never forget the 15 minutes meeting and talking to you.
oh man these songs are so difficult to sing, he does a great job but it is very taxing and exhausting to keep those notes and deliver them with strength like he is doing. I love Audioslave.
You know … as a vocalist of a tribute band having had a very rough day last gig and panicking but pulling through the whole gig made me understand that the merit is in leaving every ounce of sweat and effort in your performance and the audience will still appreciate that you did that and didn’t chicken out … seeing Chris Cornell struggling through this session makes me connect even more with him, and I promise that even on tough days I will leave my heart and soul on stage, he was and will always be one of the greatest rock vocalist of all time. RIP you legendary legend❤
I remember the first time I heard/saw Cochise on MTV pretty much shook my world, I thought right there "this band is my jam" That raw base that came from RATM plus that unique voice! I sound like grandpa but there aren't many bands rocking hard like these dudes did
Chris Cornell is and will forever be my hero!!! He wore a cape and even through his darkness shined the brightest fucking light!!!! He took you on an experience through out every performance... He was human, but Damn when I finally meet him his kindness and silly side took center stage... He once played HOB in Las Vegas and gave me a wristband and the set list... Prior to that I meet him in a whole other state, a lifetime ago... He played with Eleven, another stellar show!!! Met him there first... I miss Chris Cornell... He was a gift of a human... 🙏🏻🕊️🤍
bless your souls, bless your hearts. When I first intoxiceted by your very music I was 17. Today I just discover this piece and the joy I feel is beyond words. You were a light, you are a light, keep on shining... We lost so many dears, yet here we are a gracefully salute from Turkey. Let there be rock and peace always.
Chris was havin a rough day, but what got to tape is NOTHING but ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE!!....sessions are one thing, when we're puttin it to tape for good, thats another, and Chris DELIVERED A SPECTACULAR album of killer shit!!.....i REALLY dug this vid!!......see how tight they were ?? ....ABSOLUTE BEAUTY!!!.....we'll never have the likes of Chris's vocals EVER again!!!....R.I.P. my brother, and i miss you!!!!!!....(i wanna toss in Layne, and Scott).....these young men, carved our grunge, and the world, like NO OTHERS!!!!.....talent dont come on trees!!!.....WOW!!....so glad i'm a musician, and appreciate the DEPTH of Audioslave, Soundgarden, STP and AIC!!......just lovely lads!!! TY!!
Music is prayers so thankful to whoever preserved and shared these recordings of Mr. Cornell from AOL. Please share Mr. Cornell who sang with passion from his soul.
Great performances, perfect to show that he was a normal human being with his limitations. Chris left his legacy and I am part of it, I have a band and we love to cover audioslave, I love them all. Ótimas performances, perfeitas pra mostrar que ele era um ser humano normal com suas limitações. Chris deixou seu legado e eu faço parte dele, tenho uma banda e adoramos fazer cover de audioslave, amo todos.
Wow, already had a great appreciation for his vocal range ..... But there's nothing like seeing him raw. ❤️ This world loved him soo much and I don't know how well he actually understood how much he was/is still loved.
Awww man Chris was such a beautiful soul! My band did a cover of Cochise tonight for him! People loved it...personally I thought my vocals were horrible...Guess Chris helped from heaven! He was a guiding light during a lot of storms for me via his music! RIP hero!
These songs are really difficult to perform. Chris was an extraordinary singer and did a great job in this session! RIP Chris. Missing you a lot man !!
