Audrey Leduc of Gatineau, Quebec ran 100m in 10.96s to break the late Angela Bailey’s 36-year-old national record of 10.98s, but didn’t realize it right away. We spoke to her about the feat and then our certified track nerd Morgan Campbell breaks down her come-from-behind race on this week's episode of Athletics North.

Happy Birthday & Congrats to Audrey who recently turned 25 and has been fantastic this yr starting off lowering her indoor 60m PB over the previous 12 months from 7.42 to 7.21 & then improved her 100m PB from 11.38 (+0.7) to a 10.96 (+0.5) NR. That race suggested that under the right race conditions & if she stays healthy that a 10.89 - 10.94 clocking is possible! Would love to see her also improve her 23.62 (-0.1) 200m PB this yr by possibly dipping under 23s. Making the Olympic 100m Final is very much a realistic aim!

She is already world class. Anything under 11 is top notch.

36 years Angela Bailey's record was around, Audrey Leduc was not even born yet, congratulations. Records are made to be broken but, what Audrey did was close to incredible for Canadian standards, she is definitely on her way to world recognition at only 25yrs and a lot more room for improvement.

When I first heard and watched this race, I immediately thought of Quebec former star Geneviève Thibault

She needs to improve on her start and she can get to the podium for a medal.
