The much speculated about August 2024 Watchtower study edition is finally due to be released. Unsurprisingly, this edition of the magazine regurgitates the contents of the 2024 Governing Body Update #2 and the March 15 2024 letter to Jehovah's Witnesses elders, which dealt with some superficial changes to the organisation's shunning policies. In an unexpected turn, the "Questions From Readers" article in the issue effectively scraps the official soft shunning policy internally referred to as "marking disorderly ones." Arthur Weber and I discuss these matters in detail in the video.

Thank you for all the work you guys do! It makes it easier to see that this is really nothing close to the truth and also that leaving it doesn't make you a bad person. Watchtower should just shutdown & stop wasting their time. Their changes are not going to keep people from leaving. This will only make most die hards more angry and confused. Watchtower needs to start writing out checks to everyone that they have hurt & screwed up. Example; Severance package. Otherwise, the government will do it for them. Yes...the governments can enforce this if there is probable cause. Watchtower KNOWS this.

Its SO OBVIOUS this is a result of Norway. They wont SAY the word Disfellowshipped.... but they'll still TREAT YOU like you are! 😡 Wish they'd just GO AWAY already! P.S. Its nice to see Arthur on with you, since I no longer watch toxic Lloyd - haven't since 'The Incident'.

Disfellowshipped, removed, it all the same BS. In the Hall I went to, there were “BROTHERS “ that wouldn’t even hold the door for a disfellowshipped person. Just let it close in their face. So loving! I couldn’t imagine Jesus doing this. Put an uneducated person in CHARGE and they will lord it over others. Do I sound bitter, you bet

This is simply to take the responsibility off of the organization and putting it on the publishers to mark “disorderly” ones. The PIMI’s will choose to “mark” such ones every time. But, again this takes the responsibility off of the organization for doing it.

@@robertgrey6101 I find it wild that they are called "Questions From Readers" when not a single reader has raised that question or if they did they'd just dismiss them offhand. From the 1950s to the 1970s they used to have actual questions from readers with the senders' initials but they scrapped it because we all know how they feel about being challenged

How can the congregation welcome disfellowshipped ones to the meeting since they are only allowed to enter the hall during the first song, and then leave during the last one? And were they rejected for being apostates, or maybe became one after, like me but most have no idea?

@daretodiffer CONTROL is the name of the game. The apostates (DfD, walked away, faded) MUST LEARN to be controlled in thought, word and deed. A sticky plaster on a gaping wound which requires a surgeon to stitch up along with oral medication and ointment on the wound for it to heal. G. B. members ARE G O D !! Don't forget it !!

I disagree. Elders are fed information form the GB that doesn't reveal the full truth and most elders are just as brainwashed as the flock. The GB has a "need to know" approach to how they deal with the elders and is why the elders in a general way are not told how serious the CSA problems are in the congregations. If a congregation has never had a CSA issue in their current congregation, they may be totally unaware of the magnitude of this issue because the GB is NOT forthcoming. The GB is totally culpable, for sure!

As an ex-Elder of some 20 years experience I can categorically state that in my experience the vast majority of them are completely deceived and actually are of high morals and principles.

@@nickmitchell2324 Could not agree more! We all need to point the finger at the handlers and controllers of this religion - it's the Governing Body! The elders don't make the policies and rules but are expected to follow them as they typically receive this direction as ultimately coming from Jehovah's spirit. But, while we are on this subject, people should not be fooled. Some changes are influenced by the legal department (in order to protect them from lawsuits) and then it's passed on to the flock as though it's coming from Jehovah's spirit. Believe me, most - if not all - JWs are clueless about this. The WTS operates on a "need to know" basis and don't share a lot of what goes on in their meetings. The elders are in the dark about a lot! Look at how many are clueless about the magnitude and scope of the CSA problem in their religion. And, because they are told to never look at apostate information, videos, etc., they are ignorant of this. So, exJWs should not point the finger at elders in general, although I'm sure some are rotten apples.

The longer the elders wait to reinstate a disfellowed person, the more probable it it that in the meantime he learns about the real nature of the Watchtower, f.e. in the Internet, and then he is lost forever for the "Watchtower Gang". Somehow the GB must have realised that outcome now.

If 2 Thessalonians 1:1 is written to the whole congregation, what about 1 Corinthians 1:1, 2? Chapter 5 discusses 'removing' someone from the congregation, so logically this is by individuals as well? Can't have it both ways....

Since they no longer are using the word "disfellowshipped" to describe someone removed from the congregation, will they still use terms like disassociation? For example, WT wants to claim they don't punish people for getting a blood transfusion, but of course they do. I doubt they will use wording like "people who get blood transfusions shall be removed from the congregation" in their flock book, they need to keep the wording as confusing as possible otherwise it'll spell more trouble for them

And sometimes they never say an official word about the subject again - and other times they wait a long time & then pop something in a new article. I find it interesting how they still talk about "unless xyz stumbles someone" .... yet they no longer care if beards "stumble" anyone even though for 200 years they DID!! 🙄

Thats not what I got out of it. Sounds like more of the same ole thing to me. They periodically shuffle the wording to make it sound different legally. Marking will continue as always. Who is doing the marking can continue.🙄 The gossip will never stop. 🙄 That is what makes them feel like real christians. 🙄 Like any JW will ever forget the judicial committee or disfellowship terminology. 🙄 Its still shunning if the only thing they will say is a simple greeting! 🙄🙄🙄 They are SO SHALLOW!

I guess marking went the same way as an unapproved associate.. if I remember that archaic term correctly. Also the length of disfellowshiping was at least a year. Actually I think the body got there jolly’s ruling with an iron fist. Beating their fellow slaves

Yes, each individual Christian has to decide for themselves to mark someone who is walking disorderly. But walking disorderly is not a kind of sin that warrants a judicial committee.

I have a question guys not on this topic of the August WT 24, but to do with the Organisation Head Quarters at Warwick, claiming to be more or less the first to Lockdown in the Covid Pandemic among the big Co Operations? I saw an exjw Vlog which stated an Organisation that was ahead of WT to Lockdown but I cant remember which Vlog it was on or whose Vlog it was ? @DiffiCULTChildhood A growing number of countries are expanding the scope and definition of what constitutes defamation of character. The WT already has had a lot of past and ongoing legal battles. This is likely in response to a legal battle over defamation of character - given how often changes have come on the heels of legal woes for the WT. Just my theory.

I wonder how many marking talks were given on average per congregation per year. Maybe their frequency had increased to the point they were really discouraging and depressing for the congregations. Just think..no more apostasy marking talks! Less marking talks means less judgment, suspicion, and gossip, all things that divide congregations. I have to wonder if they will ( in time) start to treat the "removal"(dfing) of people from the conregation the same way as the old "marking" system. Maybe announce that so-and-so has been removed but its up to individual publishers as to how much they communicate with them . Guess we'll have to wait and see.

@@Rupunzelsawake Great points. The more pressure they face from governments the more likely they are to soften their shunning policies. So far its just window dressing but definitely with time they'll make shunning a conscious matter.

As a never was JW & ex Catholic that married a never baptized POMI with zealous JW in laws (Elder & Pioneer), I just absolutely love this content!
