Hey y'all, know it has been a minute since our last update but we've been pretty busy getting the ship ready to move. This will be our last video update until after the move as we just don't have the time to shoot much at all. We will get back into making more videos when we're in dry dock but until then we must give our attention to the ship. Thank you for understanding, and "Come on, Texas"!

@@BattleshipTexas So happy to hear this will happen! Definitely a historic event that should be documented and I think this will also go along way to help get the word out about this historic ship. I would love to see all the details about what was involved in the whole dry dock project in a documentary. I'm in Australia but if I lived in the area I would volunteer to help. So grateful that there is such a committed team working hard to preserve her.

As a WWII-era history buff, I’m very excited to see her on the move! I was a teenager when I started researching the New York-class battleships and since Texas is the sole survivor, it has a special place in my heart. Hopefully one day I’ll be able to drop by when she’s all done!

Thanks for the update Battleship Texas! The entitlement some of these commenters think they are owed is mind boggling. Be thankful the ship is getting dry docked. Be thankful this channel exist & keeps you updated about it. And be thankful for the hard work these folks put into bringing you this content when they do. But mostly, quit you whining.

You can't help but feel Pride when you saw the Texas move out of its permanent birth into the Ship Channel on its Voyage to Galveston. After it's Rehabilitation it'd be nice to see perhaps them birth it in Corpus Christi, next to the Lexington for about a year. This would allow citizens who live in Central and West Texas the ability to see this Mighty ship. Imagine the USS Texas and the USS Lexington, next to each other in Corpus Christi bay? This will allow hundreds of thousands of Texans have never had the ability to drive all the way to Southeast Texas to see this wonderful mighty Dreadnought battleship. It's a sad fact it's sister ship the USS New York, is no longer viable due to nuclear testing and used as a target ship prior to the Korean war. Just Imagine these two wonderful ships side by side.

As a kid (1960s'), I lived in Galveston, Tx. in the summertime, due to my real father living there. My father was a world-class Tool & Die Maker. Richard Cobb. Dad had an Apartment near the American National building. The place we lived in is still there. The red building at the corner of Postoffice St. & 20th St., on the second floor, on the corner, overlooking, Postoffice & 20th. The spring that I came down just after my 17th birthday, he handed me my Tool & Die Journeymen's Card. And become another world-class Tool & Die, Maker. I love Galveston! I hated Illinois! Where I am still today, and still hating it here! After being married, I really tried hard to move back to Galveston in the early 80s'. I worked for VANSKIKE SECURITY, INC. and a gun shop called GUNSMOKE. But it wasn't enough for my wife and I couldn't really blame her after coming from working for JOHN DEER HARVESTER. But I loved Harry and Nancy Vanskike, even though Harry was a first-class prick, who once took me out to a Wanch Barge, in the middle of the Gulf, and left me there for 10 &1/2 days and 11 nights. So I digress... I still count Texas as my true home. Because I love Galveston so much. At this point, my life is going through some major changes. My wife of over 45 years won't make another one, and I've been battling bladder cancer for 5 years. But her cancer is on a whole nother level. And lately, I may, or may not, have other issues. At 65, who knows. But if I remain in reasonably good shape after I lose my wife, I'd love to come down there to Galveston, my real home, and help work on the TEXAS. My real name is Michael G. Dawson (Cobb at birth). 309-203-6332

View from Bayland Island (aka the Baytown marina) will not be ideal for the passage under the bridge... in fact, until it clears the Exxon lagoon just south of the bridge, you might only see the superstructure. Once it clears the lagoon dike wall, you will have a clear (albeit distant) view of everything above the water line.

I get it your reasoning, but most of the video is explaining why you're not capitalizing on your greatest outreach opportunity. I'll never understand why organizations don't prioritize putting interesting stuff out regularly as that's what drives attention and donations. Yes, your focus is the Battleship of course, but going months without putting something out is ... a lot of missed opportunity. Battleship New Jersey is an exemplar in how to drive engagement. They have nearly daily videos going out and they're constantly popping up in my feed, which keeps engagement (and donations). You guys need to figure out how to make something like that happen for Texas. I'm sure there's no shortage of volunteers who would help. And if ya'll don't figure out someway to have someone film the ship leaving, and maybe film it from some of the places you mentioned as it goes down the channel, man that's a huge wasted opportunity.
@miertschin7547

I hope "Hollywood" is going to be on site to record the event. Can see a possible feature movie showing the museum Battleship Texas for a very imaginative Sci-fi reason using the new available footage becoming the fighting Battleship Texas once more. OK, OK, it's a very long large stretch to get a hundred plus years old Battleship back into fighting shape, she's going to be dry docked, in the Sci-fi world stranger things do happen all the time, it could be great fun, CGI does all the heavy lifting, the museum gets a lot of much needed cash, we get a history lesson (Opening flash back sequence) of the Battleship Texas in her prime) and then we get 2 hours of good old fashioned Sci-fi adventures. Never going to happen because the current Hollywood types have absolutely no interest in none message pure entertainment movies and have absolutely no imagination anymore.
