These lyrics are absolutely brilliant. I mean, two different screamers to contrast a person and then an inside voice telling him he can't do something? This band is simply spectacular.
@@cl0ckisg0d58Admittedly I struggle with this, but amen, thank you..I guess this reminds me of this verse: _But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another._ ― Galatians 5:22-26
August Burns Red has always been one of those bands who have never released a bad song. Masterpiece after masterpiece. They are almost musically incredible.
It seems I only really figure the meanings of ABR's lyrics when I am facing the troubles that they are talking about. Before I thought the higher vocals were these "naysayers" he talks about, but it is actually a battle between head and heart. I always trust my head over what I want to do, but I guess taking the dive is worth it and just because it is, doesn't mean that it is going to be easy. Oh my gosh, I always feel so inspired by ABR and the really help me through my troubles! God bless them :)
I completely agree, bro! These lyrics can be so relatable and inspiring; when we're going through the harsh and toughest times! :) This song, Redemption, Spirit Breaker, Meridian and Fault Line are probably my favorite songs, lyrical wise. :)
No there are cunts out there that pretend to be your friend and when they catch sight of your intention to become some thing greater the melodic center part is for internal reflection about the external. Don't give up. Carpe diem. Gutta cavat lapidem non si ved saepe cadendo. Aut viam iveniam aut facium
This is more than a song, it's food for our un-purified souls! This song is quite self-explanatory, it's about working hard for our determination. To fight for what we truly love and want to achieve. If anyone and I mean ANYONE is trying to put you down from achieving your goals and dreams, verbally or physically. Just remember the lines "This is what I need, you are what I need. I need motivation, to prove you wrong and I will prove you wrong" Maybe I'm not as good or as talented, as brilliant or even as rich as other people. But I let my passion drive me on, which is music, God and learning . And I bet it's ABR's passion for the same thing that I mentioned above. That makes them so great and inspirational today! God bless all of you. :)
Dude my dad told me Im stupid for trying to tour with a band. But Ive realized that if I followed the goals my dad wants to to follow, Id be miserable. Ive played a few shows with my band, and I couldnt be happier. Follow your dream dude.
I was at Best Buy a couple weeks ago and I saw a small child, not 5 years old, holding this album. He asked his dad to buy it for him. The dad picked the child up and bought it for him. Its good seeing small children getting into amazing music at such a young and impressionable age. I have a feeling that boy will go on to do great things.
This song just keeps getting replayed every single day. I love this song, I get lost in the acoustic part and fade away into this song. I don't know how to describe it.
I read this song was written by matt the drummer because his dad told him that making a band will never work out and that he should just stop but matt decided to just dive in head first and look how big and better they have gotten their a great band
If you've never deadlifted to this song, you've never lived. 3:47 is when you start to grip it. 4:00 when you start get angry. And 4:15 when you start to lift.
+Aaron Wheaton want good lifting music? check out I See Stars, kinda gay electrocore, but their drops and vocals are powerful as fuck. Check out the songs: Boris the Animal, nzt48, Filth Friends Unite, and Gnars Attacks. You can't not appreciate the power in those songs
Throw away what the naysayers say. Believe in Jesus and you will be saved brothers and sisters. Resist temptation and evil. Repent, do not try to survive.
I listened to this while listening to the same song in itunes at the same time. It was one of the best decisions I made this week. (Kinda felt like being at a live show)
in addition to that the band members themselves say that they are christians but dont like to shove it down peoples throats. they instead have extremely positive lyrics. but beyond that, THANK YOU for supporrting this great band!!
I’ve thrown away all of my outside distractions. I’m diving headfirst to chase a dream that I won’t let go. It’s worthless - a waste of time. This goal is out of reach. You better fall back in line. This is what I need. You are what I need. I need motivation to prove you wrong, and I will prove you wrong. What makes you think that you are different? How can you chase these dreams? They’ve become a chore. I know I’m close. I’m almost there. Just a little more, and I will prevail through what you call "ignorance". I will prevail. Now I’ve chased this dream to do what I love, and I wouldn’t trade it for a thing. Now I’ve chased this dream and I made it out alive. I wouldn’t trade it for a thing. I threw away what naysayers say, and started on a race that I had to win for myself. And you proved me wrong, you proved me wrong. All I’ve learned is teaching me more. All I know is driving me on. All I’ve learned is teaching me more. All I know is driving me on.
This song is so well written its not even funny. What a collection of minds/souls to come together and create such beauty. Thank you ABR, Thank you God.
It's a bit bittersweet though as it both saddens me and baffles me quite a bit that music like theirs is so underappreciated or not even considered as music by many, when it comes to anything remotely leaning towards the metal/hardcore genres. Like, I understand if they may not like it musically..but I'm sure they can find at least one they can appreciate―because they don't all sound the same. Or they can at least acknowledge the universally heart-wrenching lyricism it provides. Which is beyond a shadow of the doubt why so many appreciate bands like ABR in the first place. But I digress..grateful they still exist nonetheless though for those out there that do acknowledge it's beauty, like us. As well as for those struggling to the point it feels like the end and maybe this is what ultimately helped them to get back them back up again and maybe remind them they still have a soul. And maybe that's us too. But yeah dude, amen! I honestly wouldn't be here if it wasn't for God and music on my side to help me through all the dark times..which are plenty.
Even after all these years I still come back to this album. Every thing about it speaks to me on a whole other level. This song in particular is one of their deeper ones. Love everything about it.
Dustin and Jake both singing is just a masterpiece!!!!! Dustin has a more wicked scream but Jake just has such a melodic voice they both fit perfectly.
This actually became my theme song for when I did my big job change a year and a half ago. I had almost no support for that decision and I set out to prove everyone wrong for why it was so much better for me and I did exactly that.
I'm pretty sure Luhrs' higher pitched voice is another part of him trying to convince his other part that believes he can, that he's not capable of reaching these dreams. It's just like the voices inside of us that tells us we won't be able to make or do anything. After Luhrs' announces he's chased his dreams, he tells himself he's proved himself wrong. The last two lines, "All I've learned is teaching me more. All I know is driving me on." The two voices sing together, showing they are 1 again.
I love this song It's about chasing your dream, putting your head and not stopping till you achieve it. Also the devil or whoever is going to try to discourage you "It's worthless, a waste of time." But not to take it negatively, to use it as motivation "This is what I need, you are what I need, I need motivation." This whole album in my opinion is there best lyrically by far, and some of the best I've ever heard.
I think only on youtube you'll find so much needless debate over the meaning to a song, an awesome one at that, which we all just need to shut up and enjoy the way it was meant to be, with our ears.
i was scared to go back to wrestling because i sucked freshman year ,this and other songs motivated me to go hard in everything i do.Hoping i come back amazing.
From today on, I'n not going to worry anymore, I will going to give it my all, to achieve my dream. I wish you all to be successful❤❤ We didn't choose this road because it's easy. There are obstacles, but it's important to remember why we chose it
A true emotional onslaught, a conversation between two people, one of whom is chasing a dream, seizing the day - Carpe Diem, the other telling him he won't and can't make it. A true modern masterpiece, Jake and Dustin have phenomenal talent in expressing the emotion in this song. Brent and JB, never disappoint; they're flawless and I don't really need to say anything about Mr. Greiner because his epic work speaks for itself. It's a shame that some people will never experience this songs power.
I'm gonna let you finish, I will, I'll let you finish, but I just wanted to say that Periods and grammar and proper sentence structure had the best comment ever.
