To be honest, I think they have really grown when I hear Phantom Anthem. Their music is more complex, dynamic and (in a good way) melodic. There’s so much more detail is their music nowadays. Constellations/Message are really awesome, but I think sometimes people forget to listen past nostalgia.
100% agree with patfix. ABR fans for some reason tend to live in nostalgia rather than actually listen closely to their newer works. They have advanced so much since their early days. The complexity and talent of this band is completely different than the Messenger days, and I would go on to say so much better. I would argue Found In Far Away Places is their best quality album to date. Phantom Anthem is way up there also, and very underrated for some reason.
Abaddon Complexity has definitely grown with each album, they get better and better at creating very technical yet melodic music. I love everything they’ve done, they haven’t made one bad song. I love the old albums, but I think every new one they release is my new favorite!
Their new album is really good, and in my opinion they have got also a lot more progressive with their latest albums which is something I love and I kinda agree about the nostalgia for some fans, however I have only listened to August Burns Red since Rescue & Restore so for me it is not really about nostalgia, It is just that those 2 albums have the best songs imo but as I said I love everything they have done :)
Matt stayed and talked with me and my friend after their last show in Stockholm , gave my friend a drumstick because my friend is a drummer also. . totally humble and and godlike on drums. Such a priceless band, there will never be a band that comes close to August burns Red. Just the fact that they release their 7th album and some hardcore fans consider it the best they have done is proof of that.

If you want one of the most badass, unique riffs, imo check out “float” on their new album phantom anthem....but the whole album is badass af, maybe do an album review like you did for Veil of Maya?!
August burns red - Meddler. is a metalcore masterpiece. i remember listening to it as a youngling thinking it was soo awesome! if you're interested in doing more of this band thats my go too! :D
You have to see Matt Greiner's drum cams... That is pure gold man. One of the best in the business. Btw Messengers and Constellations are the best metal albuns ever, you really have to check it out. Their new album is sick too, definitely one of my favourite bands!

Matt Greiner is a fucking beast on drums always has been my favorite drummer. The instrumentals of this band is what initially made them my favorite band. One of the few metal bands left that rip a classic guitar solo throughout every single track. Their riffs are so unique and heavy. I think Jake's vocals have really improved too, especially on their latest release. The strange instrumental breaks in their newer stuff are pretty cool and unique as well. Dude if you liked Composure you will LOVE the rest of the Messengers album! Some of my favorites off that album: Back Burner (Probably their most famous after Composure), An American Dream, The Eleventh Hour, Truth of a Liar, and Black Sheep. Also I'm sure you've gotten tons of requests for White Washed off of their album Constellations. Love to see your first time reaction to one of my favorite bands ever!!

Matt Greiner, their drummer writes some of the most wicked drum parts out there, I think his performance is astounding but his writing is just too good. Probably the best. Listen to some of the tracks off of the new album and try to appreciate the use of dynamics in their songs. How they differentiate from basically all other metalcore bands.
YES must get Messengers, every song is amazing. Also you MUST see them live if they come out there, they put on an absolutely amazing show that always sounds great, I’ve seen them 4 times now lol
Favorite ? Composure, no question, i've seen them live this year, i've asked Jake if they're going to play Composure and mid intro he pointed at me "YOU've BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!" Best experience ever!!

White Washed from ABR’s Constellations is like. Aside from Compusure, the ANTJEM that every crowd wants to hear at an ABR show. Please, react to Composure. But in truth, you really can’t go wrong with these guys. Every track they write is so legit, even the instrumentals and the Christmas stuff is super lit.
