I first watched the movie & I watched it by myself. It was very good, but I felt that the reason it was good was because it exposed the true ugliness of families. It was raw, emotional, and tragic, and I personally felt that the purpose of the film was to display how bad relationships cause bad personalities. I then watched the film with my dad & was in shock at how he laughed at it like a comedy. The only reason that some parts were funny to me were because they were sarcastic and unbelievable. I then watched this play and heard the audience laughing happily at almost every part. I can't understand how some people find this as a comedy. It is a tragedy & the parts people laugh at aren't meant t be funny, but are meant to be rude and nasty. I just took a much bigger message away from this movie/play than most people, I guess. It was more of a lesson than entertainment to me.

+Roma Maffia Fanpage People also laugh when they're uncomfortable. I agree with your assessment of the movie. It was several layers peeled back and showing us what families are like on the inside. I have sat at many dinner conversations that were as explosive. For me, the dinner was like coming home, in fact, I fell asleep on the couch during it the first time, it was so comforting. :-)
