I like the idea of having a starter bed. I have a large fabric raised bed in storage, I think I will try this with it. I always have trouble with the overlap of what’s left of the summer garden and wanting to start a fall garden.

I live in an area of Hawaii where the ground never dries up during the rainy summer season and it's always amazing to see how it is in other places.

Excellent video. I get discouraged because often in the summer my new seedlings are eaten. I am trying to keep up with preventative snail bait

Water is key. He's correct raised beds can drain well and to get the earth fully soaked you have to water deeply. Mulch with straw shredded newspaper cardboard or mulch. It really helps. I like greens so I let my turnip tops get bigger before I thin same with beats.

Do you have any suggestion on how to do better with carrots and beets? Every year that I plant them whether it’s in the spring or for the fall they are tiny especially the beets. I get a ton of green growth probably because of high nitrogen but the bulbs and the carrots are tiny

There were so many white flies it was unbelievable that they actually showed up on camera. My worst pests here in Florida are white flies and spider mites. Ill take aphids any day, they are very easy to get rid of. I hope you get rid of those soon.

I have raised beds, I adjusted to a daily watering on a thirty minute drip. I have straw mulch on top, my plants are not yellowing but they are not growing as vigorously as last season. I noticed that my soil is always damp now. You said that it is rare to over water, but should the soil dry out between watering? I worry I am over watering.

Usually, white fly doesn't come to my garden until the later part of August or early September - specifically, and especially, as I start to thin down the summer plants in preparation for fall. Such a headache.

No zucchini so far, beans are starting to come up. Very frustrating this year!
