It's a Scottish actually, through and through...not English

I'm Nigerian. The first time I listened to the lyrics of the song, it was in Scottish gaelic (hope I got that right) and I immediately fell in love with the it. Before then it had mostly been the instrumental. I never knew it was performed mostly in English. Glad I stumbled upon this version again!

You should try the version sung by Jean Redpath; it sounds unfamiliar at the beginning, but it is the music Robert Burns had really written the lyrics to.
