Aurora Borealis ... over Leelanau County 

Not only stunning images of the Northern Lights, but great shots of beautiful Leelanau County!

I am from Minnesota and I seen Northern light 1 or 2 times a month and they never get old, they are so beautiful.

Always in aww of your work Ken but your capturing of the Northern Lights is beautifully done :)

I was astounded when my daughter, who lives in Iowa, told me she'd just come inside after watching the Northern Lights. Being a west coaster all my life, I never knew we in the US could see them. Thanks for this amazing footage! Where was this lake footage taken? Just an amazing view of the sky...At 67, it's been decades since I've seen such..urban decay and all ya know, hehe.

Who knew that in nearly 4:00 you could have your breath taken away. The photography is amazing. You can see the earth move.

grew up in the summers there in Glen Arbor, Northwest Michigan - same county as this video - Parents had a cottage there. I've seen this beautiful light experience demonstrated on this video. Breath taking -

This is exactly how it went in Southern Wisconsin as well.. one of the best substorms I have seen and the first one I got to shoot with an SLR. From the green splotches in the beginning, to the main substorm with the reds, do the flickering and pulsing Auroras, to the weaker substorm late in the video I missed because my battery went dead. Your video inspires be to purchase a battery grip now!! Well done!

A fine collection of timelapses! I caught some Auroras on the 2nd, but I didn't get to see them myself, and my camera was pointed west so I probably missed the best bits. I was excited to see them none the less.

My great grandpa was a lighthouse keeper on N Manitou and my grandpa was in the US Life-Saving Service/Coast Guard on S Manitou. My Mom played basketball for Maple City back in the late 40's, early 50's. Heh-heh. Most of my Mom's side still lives all throughout Leelanau Cty. Here's to my late great uncle, Glen Noonan, of Maple City. RIP

They were supposed to show where I lived, I stayed up all night but didn't see them. Seeing them is on my bucket list.

I was in Copper Harbor the night before, last day of my trip, this night I was back home and out of range of viewing. Still haven't seen the Aurora Borealis... this was such an amazing display, very nice time lapse. I'm going to show this to my parents to show them what we just barely missed! Do you remember what time of night you shot this?

I wish video cameras had been more prevalent for the massive aurora borealis of 1989! That was some crazy stuff! Millions in Canada without power, reports of garage doors opening randomly across the country and people as far south as Key West and the Yucatan peninsula reporting seeing them (they saw them again earlier this spring).

Someday, I'm going to travel to places where there's absolutely no light pollution, where all the stars are visible, and where I can see auroras. These things are so fascinating to me, and sometimes it makes me sad living in such a crowded area where only one or two stars are visible.

Ahh, I wish stuff like this would happen down here in Southern California. After a while, 365 days of continuous sunshine with the occasional storms that are always so short and sweet gets to be kind of boring. We have annular solar eclipses which pass through....but only every 17-18 years as it is cyclic. I know it sounds weird, but I am kind of envious of people who experience seasons instead of just these soft whispers of the changing months. Autumn never comes until almost January at best and our winters are much warmer than our summers...

Are these vids enhanced in any way (other than by use of a really good camera...my cellphone just won't cut it :D ) ? And is this Holland or Empire? And Sleeping Bear Bay (N or S Manitou?)? This looks so familiar...

This is so friggin wicked. It is officially on my bucket list to see this while on some good psychedelics. Imagine a planet in another system where this just happens every night on the whole planet. Anyone know how often they happen, like would I be likely to catch a good one if I went up to northern Canada for a couple weeks during winter?

im confused...i live in ohio and have never seen anything like this. do you have to be at a certain latitude to see the Aurora Borealis? i was planning on going to alaska to see these types of things in the sky, but never knew they were this close.
