A dream come true!
On Sunday, the stars aligned, and a lovely G3 storm happened while I was on a vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! Staying on the shore of Lake Superior, I had a front row seat to the show, made possible by rare clear skies. Truly, a very rare event! This aurora was visible to the naked eye, with detail and movement visible in real time, hints of the green and red color, and pillars that stretched so high in the sky they reached almost overhead.
I could call this the culmination of my aurora chasing, and to be sure, it is by far the best I've seen, and is a huge success for several years of work. Already I have succeeded in my goal from the 2022 yearly recap, which was to make 2023 my best year yet for aurora, and it's only February (when shot)! But I have no intention of stopping here. To more and even stronger shows to come!
Thank you so much to everyone who's helped me learn all I needed to know to successfully see and shoot this marvel, I am in your debt.
Sorry I'm so late in publishing the photos, I wasn't able to edit them when traveling, and when I got back I had several exams to take first. This was my first time shooting and stitching panoramas, but it came out nicely.
