Diesel is cleaner, quieter, and far more fuel-efficient than traditional gas generators. They last multiple times longer and can run full or part-time as needed without overheating, voiding warranties, or causing any damage. Propane and Natural Gas is okay for heating your home or cooking because it's instant heat, and you use almost all of it. In a generator that heat is wasted energy. Do Aurora gensets have a pre-oiling system fitted on? (or available as an option) If I shell 20K CAD$ on a genset, I wouldn't like to spin crank bearings on a cold start.

Doesn't look like it has any extra pump for pre lube but if u don't load it to max right after starting in a cold weather it should be fine. Its not a standby generator its a backup genarator. Its not made to run at full load within seconds of startup much like larger genaraters for hospitals and data centers r made.

What size would be needed to provide full power home backup to a 1900 sq ft, central air, gulf coast home? Also, could a hurricane pad be used underneath the unit? This is a nice generator...🤔 Real Nice.

20kw should be more than enough if u run everything with the genarator .. like ac , cooking , water heater , fridge & all. But if u have less money then opt for a lower power rated genarator and it will be enough in emergency situations. I guess u won't be using ac or central heating after a cyclone 😂

I've had the 20KW Aurora as my automatic full house backup generator for more than 4 years and accumulated more than 270 hours of use (including every 2 weeks automatic engine exercise for 15 min to bring engine to running temperature so the valves don't stick). Because i am an hour north of NYC with quite cold winters and loss of power a good few times a year (and not rarely for more than 24 hours) I chose these addons: 100 gallons sub base tank, Engine block heater and battery charger. My home is 4400 sqft with forced air 3 heating/cooling zones, all electric except oil for heat and hot water. Also rely on a 300 ft deep well for water. In the winter the genset can run the whole house, all 3 zones for heat, without a hiccup. In the summer, though, i can only run ONE AC zone, which is more than enough for such emergencies. The genset has NEVER failed to start (summer or winter), and under usual load consumes about 0.8 gal/h. I'm about to do my first engine oil change... Except for my fuel tank gauge recently giving erroneous readings, I have had ZERO problems with it. Its been more than worth the investment, and i recommend it highly!!

Here's a serious reply for you. I have a 12.5 Kw generator. It runs everything in my home ALL at the same time (i.e. 100% load) on a 5 gallon tank for 12 hours....that is AC, washer, dryer, water heater, coffee pot, garage door, every light in the home, and microwave, in addition to 70" tv with 7.1 surround sound, 32 inch tv with surround sound, and two 24" tv's in the bedrooms, and all satellite receivers, plus my computer, my server rack (yes I have a REAL server rack like a business i'm in IT and it draws a LOT of energy), as well as all miscellaneous plugged in appliances (clocks etc.)....only thing it DOESN'T run is my stove/oven and that is because the generator is rated at 30 amps which is exactly what the stove draws. Now keep in mind that is a military surplus generator. So unlike the unhelpful replies you got that were guessing, this is a real world on a 12.5 Kw generator. I would say 12.5 Kw would be fine if it could handle higher amperage (i.e. 40 amps most stoves draw 30, some draw less) and probably not more than a 14 Kw generator would be more than adequate. hope that helps if you haven't already dove in.
