So true, I think it is also important to realize the depth of the meaning has increased through many of her songs. What may have been a meaning to her now may expand and even morph into something else. That is the beauty of art, the beauty of music. Aurora said in a mini doc, that you can never finish art, it isn't possible. Just want to say, don't be discouraged that your feeling of what these songs meant doesn't match what they mean to her right now. As Michal Jon said, she wants us to make our own personal meanings.
I think this is really just a super tiny bit of what the songs are about. like 1/10 maybe. I feel lie AURORA's lyrics are so complex & deep, she'd have to make a 10-hour-video to totally explain the entire album lol
Oh, I always liked to realize what each song means for me first, and then search what she was thinking while creating it, but I never knew she had said that, that's so cool! And is always magic all that experience that we have with each one of her songs, anyways thank you for sharing this ✨
@@thefairydancer2571 she also changes the meanings throughout her career. They evolve and morph as she does. One song can have many meanings as she denotes and shows us.
The thing I think I love most about her......is how undeniably sincere and universal she is. She will talk about the beauty of.....love. Like, ok.....cool. But when SHE talks about it....you know she MEANS it, deeply. And she gets you to feel that deep reservoir of primordial energy surrounding such easily overlooked concepts as love, beauty, joy, crying, the earth, humanity itself. All big picture stuff.....but communicated without ANY cynicism. She's such a cool person and really helps ground me to the important things. Only Aurora can describe taking a walk in a forest in bare feet and make it sound like a life changing Ayhuasca trip.... :)
Aurora, I think you’re the most prolific songwriter and artist amongst us all. From my perspective, your songs capture the facets of the human experience and the fullness of love in a way that is rarely done
The fact that her favorite god is Ares and that he is the god of sexual desire really made me love her even more. I'm so astonished by her existence, i can't describe how wonderful she is, I'd really like to meet her someday. Thanks for sharing this video! I could listen to her talking/singing for eternity
I totally had different interpretations prior to listening to this and I must say it's so cool to hear her story versus mine. I realize she didn't include this could all be a dream or a little place called the moon, but I think it's because they tell their stories really well
I know she said Heathens was about Persephone (although in the Spotify's storyline of the song says it's about Eve, which is odd) but for me it sounds more like a reference to Lilith...
She said it is too inspired by the condemnation of Eve's action, lilith is more mythical and not serious in chirstian faith. So, Aurora's intention is to deal with the religions, so Eve(quite as dark as Lilith seeing from ones who condemn)fits perfectly. Here she is talking about the Greek gods represented by the songs, not her full inspirations
I think "you keep me crawling" more about Christian religion. When God is something far and perfect with no one flaw. When you are a sinner in the eyes of your God. In the end of song she says "if i stop believing, maybe you will see, giving into love should never hurt for me". Becouse love should be easy and natural, and nobody need to begin for forgiveness. (i found this teory in one reaction video). But i would like to know the meaning of this song from Aurora too (this is my favorit song in the albom). Sorry for my english.
@@user-kc9rz4wb9u I also thought that she was talking about the Christian religion, what you say makes sense although in fact I hardly looked for a meaning in the lyrics because I love how she sings, vocalizes. But what I felt was that the lyrics spoke of a possessive or "toxic" love for the part of possessing someone. It's also my favorite song. How nice it is to talk to someone with whom you share something you like. Greetings from Mexico
Curious Abt "Keep me Crawling" and "A Dangerous Thing". Imo a Dangerous Thing sounds a lot like Icarus to Apollo, but that was engraved in my head before I read the lyrics and realized "no love in the air" was "no love in the end" haha.
AHHHHHHHHHH, am I the only one screaming?? Cause I love Greek mythology and AURORA. And this is my favorite album of hers. This album is literally so good!!! Two of my favorite song are from this album; Exist for Love and Everything Matters.
My fave songs are everything matters which I don't rlly have a meaning for Blood in the wine- it makes me think of the LGBtq community and how we are not sinners, just lovers And exhale inhale which reminds me to breath
Are there any more of these videos? It seems like she was gonna say something at the end, and she missed out ‘This Could Be a Dream’ and ‘A Little Place Called The Moon’?
I'm guessing and sure of it that the Moon one would obviously be Selene the Greek goddess of the Moon :) great story behind her myths, check it out. And song with the Dream in title probably Morpheus the Greek god of dreaming
Im guessing This could be a dream is a greek god of dream - Morpheus i also cosplayed this god in my school, And a little place called moons is the god of night- Nyx
I think she might in the area of unconditional love Aphrodite is not only love and beauty for others but as well as self love. Also the Greek gods and goddesses history’s /mythology are confusing and complicated as Aphrodite is also a war goddess. And mythology was kinda created by humans so we don’t know the full story of them unless you ask the gods and goddesses themselves.
Not wishing to pick holes but I am a little confused. 'A Temporary High' inspired by 'Janus' ... "Janus was the god of beginnings and transitions in Roman mythology ..."
To be inspired by something can mean she was inspired by some parts of Janus, not everything. Janus was frequently used to symbolize changes and transitions such as evolution from the past to the future, from one condition to another, from one vision to another vision, young people growing up and changing from children to adolescents and from adolescents to adults, and from one universe to another universe. He was also known as the figure who represented time as he could look into the past with one face and into the future with another. Aurora’s explaination of the song: The song is about a woman that is very fascinating. If she was your present, she would be confusing; if she was your past, you wouldn't be able to escape her. If she is your future, you won't be able to keep up with her. So, its the past, present and future (in relation to Janus) 🙂
Man I love aurora but I cringed when she said 'Bacchus' and not dionysus..... hes my favorite god but so many people think baccus and dionysus are interchangeable they arent, bacchus is a roman god. Easy way to remember it is if the wine god is ugly its baccus, if he's feminine and beautiful its dionysus
In my opinion we cannot know if gods exist or not. Gods can be very useful, so why not be open minded? Most people understand that there are a lot of things humans are not aware of since our senses are limited. We can use mathematics to predict things in dimensions we cannot understand with our senses. For example how space and time interacts according to Einstein. Einstein believed in a God and his theories started as a feeling that there is something more that we cannot understand using our senses. The problem begin when our God limits our thaughts, like when Einstein rejected later theories because there was an element of randomness that he couldn't accept. Maybe a 'god' is just a word that describes something we have other uses for than to predict things. Compassion is one such use that's very helpful to empower a group of people and to avoid violence. Some people believe that this compassion is spiritual or even is their God. A 'tree' is also just a word describing something that's nothing more than energy that happens to be ordered into something humans can see, touch, hear, smell, etc. A tree can be much more than that, but we don't sense it and therefore there is no word for it. Some cultures might call it the 'Tree God' because they feel something strong around trees. For me trees are spiritual things. I like to climb up in a tree (not too high) in the middle of an old forest and stay there for a while. Maybe I will call it a meeting with the Tree God since it's very helpful way to calm down and connect with the environment we humans cannot survive without.
@@kentsolgule5362 Have you ever heard the sentence "Extraordinary claims need very strong evidences"? Religious people all over the world have tried to prove the existence of their 'god(s)' and they never succeeded. They are only came up with a lot of logical fallacies, that can be easily debunked, if you are not defying logic. And on the other hand of course, you cannot prove the nonexistence of a 'thing', because 'nonexistence' cannot be proven at all. Does that make the 'existence' claim true? Of course not, because 'nonexistence' is per definition a term, that cannot be proved or disproved. TBH I don't care, if Einstein believes in any kind of a 'god'. To be a smart person doesn't make you sacrosanct. And as far as I know, he only mentioned 'god', when it's fits his narrative. To connect 'god' with basic human feelings is a kind of a slippery slope. The 'compassion' of humans with their 'own kind' may have led to a more 'civilized' behavior inside their specific peer group, but have led to many atrocious behaviors to humans, that either are not members of their peer group or, even when they are members of their peer group, don't behave as expected. The human history has many examples for that. I skip the 'tree' part of your comment, because I think, it will add nothing. If you think, that this part is relevant to the other topics, feel free to explain, why this should be a part of the conversation.
Atlis was a Titan not a god Prometheus was a Titan as well not a god as somebody who read up and study Greek mythology Aries was not the god of sexual desire he is the God of war
It's called having a soft talking voice dear! It sometimes hurt to fake having high volume. I dont think she does that on purpose, and I actually like how quiet she is, it's kinda relaxing (?)
