She goes off somewhere when she performs. It's like she's living the song. You will see her do it in many songs. She almost looks surprised sometimes that a crowd is even there. What a special performer, a true artist of her trade. She doesn't copy anyone or try to be a certain genre she just is...and we're here for it.
You might like this one bro its Teddy Swims live and acoustic in New Zealand a couple weeks ago - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y3hOxyCYxr0.html .@@michaelgoyettemusic
As a little girl in Norway she spent a lot of time in the forest with the animals day and night and has always been special. She was terrified of performing at first as you can see at the end of this song. Glad you caught that. She just wanted to share herself. Contrast with Cure For Me. I think it’s her most upbeat song. But as usual for her with a serious message. It’s a protest against conversion therapy practiced in some countries including her own to “cure” homosexuality. She’s bisexual and doesn’t limit her love. I’m hetero but feel her. She dedicated her performance of Heathens at Rough Trade East, London, to “. . . the Mother who takes care of the people who aren’t welcome in heaven.” Like me. A comforting thought. She’s a forest fairy angel. Tatiana with Jinjer is a berserker. Floor with Nightwish is a Valkyrie. Maria with Heilung is a sorceress. Great reaction! 😊
Indeed, the word I keep coming back to for her is “captivating”. Her vocals, facial expressions, dancing, body movements are all part of it. She literally becomes the song, it envelopes her completely. She is beyond phenomenal. More Aurora please!
Just subscribed. This is not unusual for Aurora. She goes somewhere else when she sings. You often see her physically shake herself back from wherever she went. She's also just a beautiful soul, quirky, witty and a nature lover.
Very nice reaction She wrote this song when she was 11 years old It’s an important song for her, and one of few songs that are about herself Aurora is a Norwegian singer/songwriter/dancer and music producer born on the 15 of June 1996 She started writing music after finding an old electric piano in the attic when she was 6, she added English lyrics when she was 9 Can I suggest “Through the eyes of a child” live at Nidarosdomen (cathedral in Norway) 2017 This is also an important song for her
@@tx0h The Bjork influence is definitely most prominent in her more electronic songs. If you aren't very familiar with Bjork's full body of work, the similarities might not be as apparent.
Thanks. She's quite the unique individual. Check out the live version of 'Murder song' from this same concert its hauntingly beautiful and the simple guitar part and harmony from her partner is nice too.( Eyes of a child is good too).
Ohhhhhh, you've found Aurora ❤ (I've only found her recently myself) I hear Dolores, Kate Bush, Enya, Bjork... but she's simultaneously none of the above. You'll for sure hit Murder Song (VERY worthwhile), but I hope you also see Running With the Wolves, and the live performance of It Happened Quiet (on The Current)... The Seed is another really captivating one, but I sure haven't yet found one you can't say that about...
She is beyond music.. She lives it all; the song, the lyrics, the story behind it, the character who is meant to be portrayed.. You can see it, feel it, hear it from her performances. She's incredible.
The consumate live performer. All her songs are different and every time she reinterprets them. She sees the world differently and it shows in her lyrics and the intensity of her interpretations. One of a kind and a treasure.
Funny you said ungraceful but totally graceful. Have said in the past, Auroras's imperfection are Perfect! My favorite Female artist and no one else is even close IMO. One day, I would Love to hear Aurora cover Karen Carpenters Superstar. Think she would knock it out of the park! Aurora admitted she was extremely nervous during this performance. However, you will see in her live videos, she gets totally immersed in her performance and often she will shake back into reality at the finish.
Hello! The Dolores comparison is Ok. The Björk. Many have compare her with Aurora and i would never agree on that. the similarity is only is that both are freespirit. Love this womans artistery and she is an introvert. Great reaction Michael.
Bjork and Aurora have similar accents so they lean into their vowels the same way and mispronounce consonants in a similar way as well….which is part of both of their charms.
She is magical! I have been to 5 of her conserts, and she she blew me away evert time... I can't wait for the next! Check out Through the eyes of a child from Nidarosdomen concert!
I saw you already reacted to Murder Song. If you wanted to listen to another performance that's just Aurora and a guitar I would suggest: It Happened Quiet live at The Current.
She was lost in the song, then terrified by the crowd, this is so early in her career and it is at once humbling and painful to watch. Her awkward movement is because she seems to be neurodivergent (compared to her fans with a similar diagnoses) but she is uwilling to define herself with such a diagnosis, preferring to declare herself unique in her own way with no apologies or limits to her individuality and with good reason! She is her unique self doing her own unique thing and her fans call themselves "Warriors and Weirdos" in honour of her uniqueness. I count myself among the "Weirdos" personally, but we all have a home in her "Queendom" and so my recommendation for your next reaction is "Warrior" and then "Queendom" and whatever you choose, I envy you your voyage of discovery! 🥰😍❤❤🔥
The character IS her. She becomes the song, as she said herself in the Infections Of A Different Kind (EPK) - Step 1 video in 2018. Because it is her song. (EPK = Electronic Press Kit, AFAIK)
She appears to be completely free up there. Kind of ironic she singing about take me home somewhere I belong all while appearing completely home on stage. Amazing performance. Another goddess from around the same area is Eivor Falling Free live performance. Great reaction
Yo! Glad to see Hank in better lighting. Yes, Aurora makes goosebumps in just about every listener. Something about her is haunting and irresistible and beautiful.
This young artist is something else..Her mindset is wonderful..She is so pure that i feel guilty when she sings..😉 I just love her.❤ Thanks for a great reaction.
Yea, captivating is pretty good word. She always takes your attention. And she is great artist with unique emotions in her music and performances, very expressive too. Also she is just great human being (also unique as an artist). She has a lot of great songs and performances to chose from and Aurora is my favorite Artist from some time:). Ps. Some people compare her with Bjork (as you mentioned(, but too be honest I dont see many similarities and can not agree with this one thing. But it is maybe me :). Anyway cool reaction.
I didn’t compare her to Bjork, someone in chat did. I just read it. But they have similar accents and pronounce a lot of vowels and consonants the same. The tone is definitely different though, I agree.
Aurora is one of the few modern artists I consider truly unique (kind of like Ren, honestly, though their style and approach are completely different). There's already a lot of great recommendations here for other videos to check out, but if you want something truly unusual, check out both her performance with Wardruna and Oslo Fagottkor of the song Helvegen and the cover she did of Boney M's Rasputin.
AURORA is the real deal. You got Farnham going and AURORA going, you got it going. Fun Fact, AURORA covered John Farnham. Her cover of the Beatles Across the Universe and Farnham's cover of the Beatles Help are the two greatest covers I have ever heard.
Very nice! She started writing to process things troubling her, and never planned on a musical career. Turned down the offer at first. Says the emotions making her write the songs returns when she performs, and it shows. Didn't enjoy performing for a long time (serious introvert), but very comfortable these days. Some of my favorite performances are just her with a guitar or piano, but she's great in any setting. Good music videos, but she really shines live. "Murder Song (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)" from the same concert is definitely a must see.
The expression on her face was a combination of the two ideas you had. Aurora is an empath who never aspired to be a singer or famous and she really struggled with it in the beginning. But now that she is much older and has embraced it, she still transforms to another place when she sings and in the end shakes her head to get herself back into the world she is standing in. Thats why I think she prefers to always be barefoot… keeps her grounded
Empath? I heard she was on the spectrum. I’m not sure if those things are mutually exclusive or not…I’m not debating….i hope you’re right…I do want to know the answer. She is special regardless. I’ve played with several singers who insisted on singing barefoot….apparently it grounds them…which is another way of saying it helps them access their “mixed voice” and to also connect with the experience emotionally. She takes it to the next level emotionally.
@@michaelgoyettemusicyes, she’s “on the spectrum”. She has an extremely high IQ, rated as genius by MENSA, and has all the struggles that go with this combination, extreme sensitivity to others & to the world’s suffering. She is a beautiful soul, with a magical gift, her voice is so beautiful, ethereal & sometimes truly other worldly. Her live concert, in a forest (HAIK concert), is beyond wonderful. Yeah, I’m a fan🙄, Aurora, Dimash & REN are my choice of genuinely gifted, modern day, artists to listen to. All are unique & beautiful humans as well as gifted artists. With love from Annie, in Cornwall, UK.🙂🌸
I like your videos. New Subscriber here. It is so strange to hear / know that there is still , to this day, some people out there... thinking they know something about Scandinavia.... Scandinavia is a cluster of countries : You have Sweden , Danmark , Finland , Iceland ,and Norway . All independent countries! ..Aurora is from Norway. I LOVE her ! She is from the next town frome here : OS :D
The most captivating with Aurora is not her voice, it’s her personality. She is highly intelligent and her brain works on a different level ! I would say she is lightly autistic, watch interviews with her and you will be sucked down her rabbit hole.
Dolores and Biork, I can see that, the unickness of Biork and special voice from the soul with Dolores, yep, I got you. Keep your journey, she is so unique and have so much to offer, I would suggest the official video of Runing with the Wolf, amazing video as well of song. Anything you'll choos will be good anyway 🙂
Aurora is the composer that often complains that she keeps writing music that is too hard to sing. Check out "Aurora cover (anything)" to understand what she means by that.
The first time someone sees an Aurora video is always special. "Captivating" is probably the best word to describe her. I think that part at the end you were talking about is akin to her waking from the dream of fully inhabiting the song.
If you want to watch the "shake-off" from a better camera view, have a look on the full cut of Aurora's performance: Runaway starting at 3min56s, The final seconds at 7min55s. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7HphPEqRS78.htmlsi=BhZt5J1-KmCUHS2p&t=475 She's so adorable.
If there was anyone comparable to Aurora, it would be Bjork and Delores. She is like the lovechild of Bjork and Delores. There are many times that I have seen the Bjork influence very clearly. One song is "Soulless Creatures", and the other is a song by Askjell ft. Aurora called "To Be Loved". Aurora is a big fan of Bjork, and Bjork is actually a big fan of Aurora, too. There is a mini concert (which is AMAZING) that Aurora did for KEXP Iceland, and Bjork was in attendance. At the time of this performance, she was still quite young, and she was indeed quite nervous in this performance, but she never loses what makes her AURORA.
she wrote that at 11. yes, she goes somewhere when sings and she takes us all with her, then she clearly comes back to reality. just a little wood nymph...
