That's my girl. She's fabulous. One of my favorite performances. As for the meaning, she wants you to take whatever meaning you feel. That's the beauty of her music. One performance I think you may like and appreciate is "A different kind of human" live at Christine's radio festival. Add that and "Soulless creatures" live in Bergen to your list. Two fabulous performances. This one rocks. I love this one.
Water is really just a metaphor here. In my opinion, it stands more for the fact that we risk losing too much just because we don't value what we have. Two people in a relationship are actually happy with each other, but one of them is that not enough or is constantly questioning. Some people just act self-destructively when they think they don't deserve so much luck. All of them then risk their relationships even though they know they are doing so. One wants to go there, the other doesn't. Sometimes the relationship survives, sometimes even more intense afterwards or it dies. In my opinion, Aurora sings from the perspective of the one who appreciates what he / she has and asks the other why he wants to risk it all. I think it's great that you deal with the lyrics in such a way. Many don't do that.
Aurora's music is so open to interpretation which is one of the reasons i love it. This song love especially for that reason, and also we get to see a part of the metalhead in her. I wish she had more songs like it.
it brings images of dark and silent water, in which we feel alone and isolated. and like you said, we jump in of our own accord, seeking something but finding nothing. also saying death by water is spiritual. as her organs and limbs are cleansed, so is the soul. great react HxC!! thx!
As always you interpret is great. As a old fart metalhead i hear also the rock vibes. Soft universe in Paris have similar vibes. The crowd in this performace is the best.
So you thought about what! last night... 8.00 LOL... I had heard some people fake their reactions... Please give a good explanation of what was said there..
HxC, you want rock with a message, a hard message ?!? You better checkout her official video & song "the Seed". This video I recommend is about as powerful a statement as Aurora could write. It questions humanities choices. And the visual images are quite strong.
Nice reaction! Interesting interpretation to the song. I always thought it was about taking risks, like why jump in the water when you die, cause like the song says water washes away the sin. So I thought it was like there’s always a positive to something seemly negative.
She actually is a pretty great dancer. You can see it mostly in the music videos for "Apple tree" and "Winter Bird". She actually has dance training. I agree with you that most of what she does on stage is not dancing in most of these songs.(accept Conquerer of course. That is dancing) It's feeling the song all through her body. But, like I said, check out those videos for her actual dancing. And I think I already told you to check out "I went too far" at this Honda stage concert.
Great reaction again. I like the way you think and analyze her lyrics. Now, maybe a bit surprisingly, did you know that her preferred genre to listen to is actually heavy rock ? Keep up the great work buddy :-) And I did NOT know about the Sims thingy.
Oh, I get what you mean about spiritual music. But this one, too, yes? Because, from watching your reaction videos, it's got me to thinking about how each song prizes (prises?) what our identification to the message is, then "grabs" that part of us and takes it on the journey that is most perfect for the healing...if that makes sense!
