G'day everyone!! I'm excited about this one!!
Probably my best experience chasing bass so far...not only for the quality of the fish, which were the healthiest and thickest wild bass I've ever seen, but also for the place where I found them...the greenest and thickest rainforest scenery I have ever been surrounded by while chasing these natives!!
Follow me on this adventure...let's chase JUNGLE BASS!!!

Thanks Stephen! Yeah I absolutely loved the place, it’s a fair drive from home but I’ll definitely go again in spring and summer…the scenery is great, the vegetation around is so tall and thick I reckon I can throw top water all day long….and the quality of the fish is awesome too.

Thanks mate, yeah since all that water was from the recent rains it definitely wasn’t warm at all 😅 water temp, colour and time of the year I think made it extra tough but I’m pretty sure that place must be a true honey hole in spring or summer…

Haha yeah I would’ve stayed all day but had no signal and mrs would be worried if she didn’t hear from me too long after the time I said I’d be back…we were spending the weekend away with some friends too so had a busy day ahead with them and the kids…I’ll definitely be back by myself in spring or early summer to spend the day exploring the area

God I've had the Volkey BFS since they came out and more recently bought the Benki BF to supersede it (protect it from being broken in use) - such a good rod the Volkey.

@@AndrewSlaski I can’t agree more with you mate, I love mine so much as a 2 piece option that I’ve been keeping an eye on Japanese auctions for a 652ML to take as light mangrove jack 2 piece rod when I’m travelling as my 1 piece Edge rods aren’t ideal to fit in the car. Thanks mate, yeah the place has quickly become my favourite bass spot just because of the scenery. I’m sure in spring and summer it will be a great honey hole. It’s a bit of a drive from home but I don’t care, I’ll definitely plan a day trip or two. There’s another one or two similar creeks around it so keen to explore those ones as well

Love it! The Dstyle is definitely a confidence bait. I reckon surface is the go just after rain because they are waiting for all the bugs to start falling in the water after getting soaked. How do you find the 2 piece rod? I was considering the Shimano Trout One 60UL in a 2 piece.

Thanks mate! Dstyle is 100% a performer, it just keeps getting fish for me… I actually feel like after rains bass are more concentrated in feeding under the surface, at the top end of the pools, looking into the current, on worms, bugs and disoriented baitfish brought down with the current…but what you say makes sense too, could be a bit of both! I love that 2 piece Volkey, to the point that I’m chasing the equivalent in 8-14lb for creo jacks. When we go out for a weekend with the family on my Mrs car it is easier for me to pack 2 piece rods than my usual 1 piece that I use locally. I haven’t tried that Shimano so can’t really tell but if it’s a trout rod it’ll surely be fun for creek bass 😃

Do you think because the clarity wasn't the best that the surface agitation of the d style just brought more awareness to the lure? Or the other lures would have given enough lateral line stimulation?

It’s a great question…the bubble trail and splash of the Dstyle was the reason I tried it…however, on the way back I quickly covered the entire pool with it and didn’t get any interest…my theory after that is that most of the fish in that system were already down into the brackish/salt ready for the spawning and the little population that remained in the freshwater pool were just stacked up the top of the pool feeding on the stuff that the running water from the recent rain was bringing in…most probably, if I had left the mouse on I would’ve had the same success up the top of the pool…but that’s all educated guesses based on the lack of success of the Dstyle on the way back…we’ll never know…I’m just glad persistence paid off and finally found some great action in such special place
