I’m indo, and let me tell you, indomie goreng is as crucial as our flag. We love our mie goreng with egg and sausages. That’s exactly what we would eat if we want to make ‘fancier’ version of indomie goreng. And none of us makes indomie the way she did, unless you don’t have stove in your place and that means you have no choice. It will change the noodle’s texture and it will lose the chewiness. I think mostly indos hate peas but we love love love our fried shallots. Extra hugs for extra fried shallots 💜 one more thing: never leave the chili sauce behind! Put it all and extra chopped chilies is necessary 😉

This is kind of amusing to watch. Especially when Aussies day that Mie Goreng is ‘spicy’ for them. Even though I am an Aussie myself, My Mum is Indonesian born. Mie Goreng is a snack she sometimes eat for lunch when she just doesn’t feel like cooking sometimes. And the funny thing is, she doesn’t think it’s spicy at all. She even goes as far as to eat the Spicy Mie (Not original Onion flavor), use the entire Chili packet, AND add some extra sriracha in it! She sometimes asks me to try a bit of her Mie creations from time to time. But I usually decline, because I know I would practically die haha. I swear she has full immunity with Chili! 😂

They think the peas and the dried shallot in the mi goreng is boujee. But wait until you hear mine. 1. Microwave noodles with corn and peas until cooked. 2. Chop up a quarter of brown onions, add it to the frying pan with a tsp of chilli oil. Add kimchi and a tsp of sweet chilli sauce. 3. Chop and add as many bok choy as you want to the pan and fry until mixed in and cooked. 4. Drain noodles and add it to the frying pan, then pour on the sauces. 5. Move noodles to the side, fry a sunny side egg. 6. Then remove from heat, plate it all. Put dried shallots on the noodles, place the egg on top and then drizzle sriracha and sprinkle parsley on top. Now that’s boujee. If you want more extra, you can mix peanuts in it or even use peanut butter whilst mixing the sauces in the frying pan.

Ate these pretty much every day in boarding school. We made them as instructed and then added sweet soy sauce and extra fried shallots. Sometimes we added a fried egg. The sweet soy totally changes everything. It's the best version of these. We also started adding sriracha later on.

I bought an indomie mi goreng instant noodle pack a couple of year ago and made it the way you make most instant noodles - adding the seasoning to the water and it becomes a broth! I had no idea, it's not a common type of instant noodle in Canada. NOW, I realized how to make them right and I love them with a fried egg. My local store stocks this brand sometimes - they hadn't had any in months but today I went and they were re stocked so I bought 7 lol. Along with some korean brans they finally stocked up on again.

@Oddricm
@Oddricm 4 года назад
Australian here. So, mi goreng is to us what ramen is to the US. Cheap food, simple to make, etc. Ideal for uni students stretching out their cenno so they can go get munted at Revs come the weekend. It's not 'our' food. It's bastardised to the extreme, and if anybody acts like that's the genuine article -- well, they've either never been outside of Buttfuck, South Australia, or they're ignorant to the point where you have to assume it's deliberate. Short answer: Indonesia next door, uni students poor, mi goreng cheap.

5:35 It does not necessarily need two pans. If you fry the egg first in your pot and then set it aside while you cook your noodles you can do it all in one pan. It’s not conventional but you can pretty much free and egg in any piece of cookware I will do this once in a while to save on dishes if I’m cooking something with eggs and other ingredients.
