A sporting director is never going to tell you they think a coach sucks in a press conference. Rodo's public statements about Wolff do not matter in the least. Results do matter -- and in any decent club after a season like this one, with the terrible kind of play we showed on the field, the coach gets fired.
I feel a little let down by this press conference. Austin FC is not a charity, it is a business -- and the fans are its customers. The entire team should be accountable to the people paying to go see the games. I get the feeling that every time Rodo said "of course, we discuss that internally" he should have said "of course, and what we say is ____". Very clearly from the QA you can tell that the fans want drastic changes to play style, roster, leadership, etc. As is fitting with this teams underperformance this season. Literally zero questions were truly answered with anything other than "I'm not gonna tell you". It sounds to me like the vaunted "wait list" for season tickets is giving this leadership a little bit of a feeling of entitlement and overconfidence. It shouldn't -- the fans could start voting with their feet, and by the time the stadium is consistently empty, it would be too late to avoid failure for the organization. Start respecting the fans.
Reasonable people can agree to disagree. I'm a Reasonable person and even though I do not claim to know more about the sport than Rodolfo I can agree to disagree with him about wolffs future at Austin. We have plenty of evidence to show wolff is not even a mediocre coach let alone a Top 1% coach who is so special that results can be completely disregarded or excused away (it was all reynas fault even though Josh was actually in charge of signing players for over 7 months). Rodolfo is making a mistake. Our only hope is that our players play so well that they make up for our shortcomings at coach.
Watch the matches. Were the injuries his fault? was The Jared Stroud Event his fault? The Frei save? ALL the calls that have gone against us this year? all the *clear* penalties that we missed out on? Lineups, subs, and tactical decisions absolutely fall on Wolff. But frankly, we've recently seen a notable uptick in goals based on the exact same plan we had earlier in the year, and injuries have been a major limitation on selections since 11 minutes into game 1. Wolff may not be the best coach, and you certainly dont have to like him, but in reality he's nowhere near as bad as people assume. I'm perfectly fine retaining him for one more chance.
@@samuelmintz9816 it has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with liking/not liking him. I can see with my eyes that strategically he is a sound coach. Where he falls extremely short is man management. HE is not a leader of men who inspires his players to play for him. All the things you listed above are valid, but they are EXCUSES. A better man manager will have squeezed 5 or 6 extra points out his players and we could be in the playoff conversation. We went WINLESS all season when scored on first. That was with/without injuries with/without bad calls. Sorry, but that is on MANAGEMENT. RESULTS MATTER. Unless they don't because you are willing to excuse ANYTHING away. If we happen to also not be good next year (and you heard Rodo already lower the expectations) the same excuses will be given next year (because they were also given in 2021). With all due respect, you can continue to throw good money and give people chances, but I will chose to vote with my wallet. I will NOT be renewing my season tickets next year if things do not improve. Wolff must be held accountable and cuddling him in this manner is both bad for business and sets a terrible precedent.
Oh yeah, and believe me, I've watched all 111 matches and been present for almost half of them. I've seen what Wolff can/can not do. Again, we can agree to disagree and you can deny what your eyes see and buy what Rodo is selling you, but I respectfully will not.
@@ariessilva I think people not renewing their season tickets is what will be necessary for the team to get the message. There are clearly many season ticket holders (especially in the expensive sections) who are not going to the games -- the west section is usually at 50% capacity, I wager mostly from resold tickets. If people stop coming, and the ticket resale value keeps dropping, more and more of these holders will start seeing their season tickets as wasted money, and let them go. By then it will be too late, the management should not let things get to that point.
I don’t understand the front office’s thought process. Y’all should of looked for a coach with experience that plays the style we want here. And put Wolff as head coach for Austin FC 2 to prove himself. Instead of betting everything on a head coach with no experience
