Very interesting. I don't think it needs to be said, but any shop can screw anything up. It is the conscientious fellow, or team, with perhaps the luxury of experience, that you want to find to do this kind of work. If anyone is just looking for Healey parts of any kind, I have found "A-Head 4 Healeys" is now the go-to place. Their prices are far more competitive and they DO want to help. I used to go to AH Spares some years ago ....but a recent experience prompted me to investigate alternatives and I found "A-Head 4 Healeys" immediately filled my needs .....and for less expensive. From now on, "A-Head 4 Healeys" is my choice. .
That machine shop is where I have my machine work done, MJA engineering in bromsgrove, he's got 3 of my classic mini blocks and cranks there at the moment.
Well done Fuzz, good description of how to refurbish a 3000 engine, well done the young engineer with Fuzz as well. Good filming and instruction. I wonder how many young motor engineers can do this?
I believe the healey 3000 engine was originally a lorry engine?. Now that is one knackered worn out engine. I hope Car sausage does not go to the USA lol. Keep the good work up Fuzz.
It might have already been done several times and not need it. Needlessly removing even more material will only get you quicker to an unusable part; you can't keep on skimming forever.
My 100/6 from 1957 the oil pump broke and made a big hole in the block so when it is apart also see to the oilpump???? And if you can put a plug with magnet in your oil-sump (wish)
This man can comunicate the subtlties of old English resto, best at ya brother. Glad I found you, anything on a 90's Jag six? Mine has over 280000 miles good compression but burns oil from idle after warm, valve seals? My hope anyway. Love the Austin Healey, had a 100/6, one of a few I wish I didnt sell.
Hi Fuzz, Can you advise me. I am doing exactly the same job. I have a set of new old stock plus 20 pistons. They have the lower ring at the bottom i think like 100-6. Would you leave this ring on or take it off?. Many thanks, David.
The C-Series was conceived and engineered as a motor car engine, originally sized at 2639 cm3 and fitted to the A90 "Westminster" model. Austin did make light commercials (e-g- the "Loadstar") but not with C-Series engines.
