According to Austin Police Association President Michael Bullock, the Austin Police Department is currently facing a shortage of officers, and assisting with protests at the University of Texas at Austin this week has added to the strain on the department's resources, leading to officers being pulled from their regular duties, including responding to 911 calls.

Doesn't your conscience bother you? I am a UT grad also. What obstruction? There are multiple entryways all over campus.

Nice attempt at spin, but no sale. Most of the protestors are just that: citizens exercising their legal right to assemble, protest, and speak. Those who agitate and start violence are criminals but they are NOT terrorists.

I remember the protests of the 60s. To show their very strong commitment to stopping the Vietnam war, some of the gals took off their shirts and went bear breasted. Now THOSE were some meaningful protests and made a real impact on me I can tell you.

Politicians on both parties need to stop misusing police resources. No, you can't cut the police force and expect them to reply to each and every call for help. This is an assault on our First Amendment rights. Use the police for what they were hired for -- keep the peace, not attack 1st Amendment-protected protesters

Here is an idea Austin, instead of having police arrest peaceful protests why don't you have the police look for the opioid dealers since you guys had 5 overdose deaths in one morning 🙄🤦 You guys will never do that because you listen to Greg Abbott who is incompetent and said protesters belong in jail but no charges were pressed.
