The hard working men and women of the Austin Police Department wish to thank the citizens of Austin for their outpouring of support after the death of Senior Police Officer Jaime Padron - We Saw You
Austin PD and Austin Police Association...we saw you! We saw you with heavy hearts---we saw you suffering the loss---we saw you lose a warrior! But, we also saw you report for roll call, we saw you continue to honor your oath to serve and protect and answer the citizen's calls for police service. APD, I say to you, my fellow warriors--in the face of adversity; you stood-up, you held your heads up, knowing that it could have been YOU, but you went to work anyway.
Again, the man gave his life protecting, you, me and this city. Who cares what the best way to get to San Angelo is. The man is a hero and deserved to be treated like one. Are you a public servant? If you gave your life the way Officer Padron did then you should get a memorial like this. This has NOTHING to do with the size of the government, this is the people of Austin showing their gratitude for his selfless act of bravery. GOD BLESS YOU OFFICER PADRON, we will never EVER forget you.
This officer gave his life in service to this city and its people so if they wanted to shut down every highway for a funeral procession for this man then so be it! oh and I also didn't know they were shutting down the highway that day, but you know what I did, I parked, got out of my truck and stood along the highway and showed that man the respect he deserved for giving his life. You should be ashamed of yourself for even feeling "inconvenienced" that you had to wait or take an alternate route.
I'm glad that anyone who questions why we need to shut down half the city for five hours is told to leave the city. I think it would have done better if they secured a public space off of major interstates for the procession.
I respect the officer for doing his duty. I see no reason why they had to block off traffic for five hours. Even mapquest says the best way to get to San Angelo from north Austin is to head north west rather than south. I wouldn't want my death to shut down half a city for hours, with little to no notice given to the community. How large the government have to get to be able to do this?
Why did they shut down traffic on I 35 to travel SOUTH? San Angelo is North-west of round rock. The only reason the motorcade was on I-35 was to shut down traffic for 5 hours for a parade. Not even the president should get that.
I typed something out that explained why you were wrong aobut map quest and why Officer Padron was treated like he was. But, no matter what anyone writes, you wont get it and stilll complain..I changed my mind and deleted it. Instead, all I have to say is "Shut up" and go find something else to complain about. Maybe you can use Map Quest to figure out how to move out of the Austin area.
A parade?? Are you serious.. You have a lot of nerve talking about a memorial for a fallen officer like that. But I fought for your freedom to say that, and so did officer padron, god bless america, god bless texas, god bless the austin police department, and may god bless officer padron and comfort his family. Next time you want to make an insensitive, disrespectful comment like that, go thank a veteran, active duty military, or police officer for protecting your butt and giving you that right.
