If strongly considered doing the same when i left service in 1985. I was in Germany and having the best time of my life. At age 21. But, i went back to the states because "my momma and nem" was there. Less than 3 months after discharge, 4 brothas shot me through my car door while i was driving near the Dallas zoo. After recovering from That, i made a great life but married twice and ended up fighting for custody of my children and spent thousands of dollars paying the moms to go away. I became tied to the USA due to the children, despite having primary custody. Still needed to raise my kids in the Godless USA where feminism has ruined the traditional family. Finally, 28 years after discharge, i was able to leave the USA and live abroad for several months at a time. And life is great again. When my youngest graduates high school, i will have no need to return to the USA for anything other than what i should have done back when i discharged - visit and then get the hell out. Buen 💪suerte and God bless you for your service. Btw, Panamá has good USA veterans structure in place, i am told. I havent used it yet since i am in Costa Rica next door mostly but you may want to add them to the list of comparable places. They are cheaper than Costa Rica.
