as an Australian who lived in the philipinnes from 2003 to 2019 i knew i had to watch who i talked to and watch my back all the time. many pick pockets on public transport working in pairs and groups. i was lucky never had anything stolen. they got very offended if i noticed them on the buses trying to pick pocket people. i love the philipinnes and its people. i’m married to one for 10 years now and back in Australia with our daughter.

there was no cctv of the culprit arriving from the hallway. The police assumes he entered through an open window of the room the victims were in.

I know someone who used to work at the hotel where the couple was found dead. They had honestly security and management issues. It was easy to let guests in. She told me there must be a big security lapse if someone can get murdered in that hotel.

I think your reporter just did not get info from the police on time before filing this story because there were details available in local news reports about a person of interest seen in CCTV footage. The video thumbnail is also inaccurate because Tagaytay is not a beach area. It's in the mountains.

I was an OFW and worked with Israelis. They are like Americans, Europeans, and Egyptians who make prolonged eye contact whenever they are talking business with other people. For Filipinos and other Asians, it is rude and is regarded as a provocation like during state outs in boxing and MMA fights. I believe that triggered the misunderstanding.

What a Shame! From Philippine news looks like the couple was robbed in Tagaytay. The other person that was with them was the relative of the wife.Tagaytay is a famous mountain resort where the Active Volcano is located. The wife must be from that place and that's the first time I heard of a crime. Every country has its ghetto. Listen to the locals if they tell it's not safe. But honestly this is the first time I heard of this kind of horrific crime. Our condolences to the Victims and their families.

I visited Manila and the provinces this year. I must say that I felt safer there than I do here in the US. Please do your own research on crime index per country and you will see that it is higher in the US and many high GDP European nations. The Philippines also has less crime compared to many Asian nations. I do pray for the family of the victims.

I always lock my door when I'm visiting the Philippines. One thing i don't understand were was the hotel security every place i have stayed in the Philippines had security 24/7. Apart from when i stayed in the province but i had my girlfriend family they helped keep me safe. This looks like it was over a personal matter i don't think it was a robbery or some random killing sounds like it has been planned.
