Wow what a car . Since moving from Scotland to Australia over a year ago I love the Aussie V8s Holdens and fords . Something we don’t have much of in Scotland is V8s as fuel is almost double the price of Australia so it’s extremely costly to run a V8 . This car is a weapon looks fantastic great review.

Hard to believe that the Gt500 are not able to pass emissions as there is two companies in Australia that import this model in no issues with ADR compliance.
my uncle has one of these in the same colour with 804 hp to the rear wheels, its got upgraded wheel, quick shifter, an ecu remap and full custom exhaust and fair to say its insane

Mr Ross, I take it all back .....as per my last comment. I managed to get a drive in a mates r spec and tbh its unreal. they truly are a beautiful car and now that the Aussie stuff isn't here anymore I think I should stop taking even the standard gt mussy for granted. coupe, v8, manual transmission, rwd , coyote etc etc. I want one! does not have to be an rspec. being able to get one brand new is awesome. I'd love to add one to my collection in the new eruption green colour thats out. we may not have the manual or dedicated petrol v8 in a few years so I guess enjoy while they are as raw as they are.

I'm a new Subscriber to your channel......and I'm a Mustang fan from the UK. I have to say, outside of the US, Australia "gets" the muscle car like no other country and this Herrod R-Spec is bloody gorgeous! I know you guys lament the loss of Ford and Holdens being built in your home country (just as I lament to loss of Ford manufacturing here in the UK).....so it's so cool to have the perfect blend of US and Australian input into this one. Honestly, I'd take this over the GT500. Keep up the great work on the videos :)

I’ve got a 17’ GT 6 speed s550. It’s a lot of fun BUT over 100kph it’s all over the place. First thing I need to do is a full suspension make over. Some nice adjusties etc. Was considering the helion Twin Turbo kit but I don’t think I’ll bother. Will probably sell it soon and go the Camaro route

The 2020 Shelby GT500 has a DCT transmission with 760hp! It does 10.5s and 10.6s in the quarter mile and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. This is no match for the GT500 sadly.
Herrod were strongly debating whether to use the pulley system boost level that they went with (due to the lifetime warranty) However they strongly considered (and tested) an even higher boost pulley
Pushing out 605rwkw! Herrod will do that kit for owners as long as they inform you your warranty is void. I believe they tweak the exhaust as well..its above the legal AU DB limit so im guessing straight threw mufflers?

The Shelby GT500 has 760HP plus a dual clutch transmission with a 5.2L V8 supercharged. It does 0-100 in 3.3 seconds and a 10.6 second quarter mile with trap speeds of 212km/h. It's on another level.
The mustang spec doesn't stand a chance against the Shelby GT500. This spec is not even a 10 second car sadly. The Shelby GT500 has a dual clutch transmission which will dominate and does 10.5s and 10.6s in the quarter mile and 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. No match.
It would be interesting to see the difference between the herrod mustangs and the US shelby versions. Herrod is pretty reputablle for making good things great and legal in Australia, reasearch and development also.
In the early 2000s, fte did a limited run of mustang cobras, rhd converted to Australia. Herrod did a v10 swap. It was all show with go. From memory, it had dual hydraulic handbrakes, one for the fronts, one for the rears. Not on the imports for sale. There werent many cobras for sale, but it was just marketing.
i would love to do that comparison tho i think i would struggle to find one here in perth to compare with.. hard to imagine this car getting any better..

Was a one time thing.. they make the SM17 now but all are sold out.. gotta buy a used one if your lucky.. or go directly to Herrod to add the same mods
Loss of time thru gear changing too .. Imagine if this was the 10-speed auto ?? No clutching & boost stays on FULL all the way . Auto be 1 sec or more quicker over a 1/4 mile :)
Awesome sound, great review plus now I don't feel too bad about 0-100 in 5.7 with my 12psi tune(280ish rwkw) taking off in 2nd without stalling it up (xr6t zf)
Was waiting for someone to review the R spec mustang and it didn't disappoint what an awesome car I wonder how different it would be compared to the Shelby 350 and 500.

@@RossReviewsau I'd love to see that. The Shelby GT500 is on supercar performance level plus it's a track oriented car with a big wing with 550lbs of downforce and cup 2 tires and ect. It's wing was used on the GT4 mustang. It's trap speeds in the quarter mile are insane being 209-2013km/h.
Thats not bad numbers from a 5 Litre! considering the new Shelby GT500 is pushing 750 HP out of a new 5.2 Litre Supercharged engine. This R-Spec is the same price as a base model Shelby!
I'm also in WA. Where is this road bud? Looks like Chittering but more picturesque! Also, perhaps it's a manual but 5.0 sec to 100kmhr seems slow!! My XR8 (Tuned beyond Holy Grail) can do it in 3.9sec with launch control activated
This was on canning dam road.. beautiful spot.. first and second are torque limited but also that was my first go I’m sure I could have got it down to a low 4 with practice and a good road..
Couldn't afford any Mustang and this one is just a dream but it's great to see real Aussie content and care and attention to make a great product even better ... That said it'd be a hard call for me deciding on buying one of these if money was no object or a genuine FPV GT F ...Probably worth about the same in years to come .
it really is a great thing to see cars like this here.. i really hope they will do more and other manufacturers will follow.. i've driven both and honestly the mustang is better.. its really only the sentimental value that would make me get the GT-F over this
Been watching a few of your videos appreciate the content. I do find it rather odd that you compare the base mustang to the FPV cars in other videos.... in this video you now have a tuner Mustang.... I guess you guys dont get GT500 or GT350 Ford Performance vehicles, nor do you get Ford Performance parts like the bolt it on yourself superchargers. which would be comparable to the FPVs.... they would still be foreign but far more accurate. It would be like an American comparing a Falcon Futura sedan to a GT350 and saying..... there is nothing special about these Aussie Falcons! I dont get the hype? Seems like a big heavy tarus .....
trust me you have to see one in person and experience it to understand.. i to thought they looked like just big ford taruses when i moved here.. i was so wrong..

Matter of fact after watching so many videos on Aussie cars I am actually starting to think I may need to grab a Chevy SS even though they are still a bit pricey. It may not be a Falcon F6 but its a pretty awesome Aussie sedan. Thanks again for all the content!
Not far off I would say.. would be interesting to compare them next to each other.. GT500 def looks more aggressive and haste slight power increase “claimed”
@@RossReviewsau the new Mustang r spec is a financial rip off so the power you get in the money they want for that car you would be better off buying a standard Mustang with your 6 speed manual if that's what you wish and taking it to any well-known reputable performance company spending probably 25 grand extra and getting yourself something that will have more power and still be probably $45,000 cheaper as for the gt500 compared to the are spec it has a much better engine connected to a gearbox that would destroy any 6 speed manual sorry to say manuals are old caveman technology and Australia has always missed out on Americans cream gear and if you think the r-spec is expensive by the time the gt500 got here and they did the right hand conversion 95% of people would not be able to afford it
@@RossReviewsau ok. Seen a few on the drag strip stock run low 12s with a good launch. Owners say they love the 10 speed and how quick the gears change. Never heard of any say what you're saying. Strange
Track times will be 1-1.5secs better than on the street, on street tyres. Supercharged V8’s, no matter what the power, run 12’s on the street. More Holden and Ford people need to buy a Dragy and Vbox to truly find out how quick/slow their street cars are.

Check out the HERROD DJR17 and SM17 limited edition mustangs they are another level over the R-spec way more power much better looking and they’ve been totally hand built with every part upgraded or modified in some way!!! Amazing the things the boys are doing @ HERROD MOTORSPORT
