Great video!! My Hero Father fought in WW2, alongside the Australian's. He said they were fearless fighters and tremendous allies. He had great respect for his Australian Brothers. God bless these men.
"...except for the fact I got blown up once.....which didn't help". That's the typical level of extreme understatement of that generation of Australians. I grew up surrounded by these hard old buggers....they taught me quite a lot.
My grandfather was a Marine who fought with Australians in the South Pacific. He had great respect for them. After being wounded he was in a hospital with an Australian officer I believe, who got my grandfather a military hat. I still have that hat as well as all my grandfathers other military belongings. It's one of my favorite possessions.
Thank you to the brave men and woman of Australia for your service during WWII . You are all remembered for your crucial role in securing OUR freedom .
Great to see our Aussie diggers getting some acknowledgment. There’s a few Kokoda Track veterans still around, it’s absolutely essential these incredible humans tell their story. The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway in Sydney would be a great place to reach out to make these connections.
Thank you for showing these interviews. So many barely realize how big a part the ANZACs played. Thank you to all of these amazing men. As an Australian, these old warriors make me deeply proud of my country. I spent a lot of time in Atherton as well as Cape York. As a kid in the 80s, the place was still littered with old war materiel. My parents, who spent time in PNG in the 60s, told me stories of findings all sorts of war detritus deep in the jungles, and even found the remains of Japanese soldiers and downed planes (I don't know where exactly. They have since both passed). The fighting in those jungles was beyond hellish.
@@anthonyeaton5153 Reaaally? Seriously dude.....not the appropriate time or place. Its a part that does actually get discussed, as well as the 'why' (context is important). The disaster at Singapore doesn't in any way detract from the amazing exploits and courage of these men. If you're one of the ingrates that loathe the military for some reason while having little grasp of the bigger picture of the time, you're in the right place to get educated. What's your point anyway? What exactly are you trying to achieve with a comment like that?
Thank you for honouring our Veterans. You are correct in saying a lot of our contributions in WW2 are overlooked. Thank you again from a modern day Vet.
I would like to thank these brave men and all who fought, died and did their part to defend us. I salute with the greatest respect!! And thank you for doing these great interviews!
GOOD ON YOU RISHI,-YOU DO GREAT WORK FOR "ALL-THE OLD SOLDIERS"--MY DAD WAS ON THE CRUISER--"AUSTRALIA"-GOT KAMIKAZIED AT "LEYTE"-THEY HAD TO USE A "STEAM-HOSE"-TO GET THE BLOOD OFF THE DECKS--GOT HIT BY 8 OFF THEM !!
This is wonderful as I have listened to so many wonderful stories from US veterans Suggestion: It’s lovely to hear their life history before they enlisted
Thank you so much for helping to preserve these stories. And thank you to the Australian heroes, living and passed on, who helped to support the Allied Troops in the horrific Pacific Theatre. We owe you more than we will ever be able to repay you, and we we promise to never take that for granted. 🇦🇺❤🇺🇸
Good on you Rishi! Thank you so much for grabbing and reciting all these stories. Forever treasured because of you. And of course, thank you soldiers for relaying them!
