SailGP is sailing redefined. Established in 2018 and headquartered in London and New York, SailGP is an annual, global sports championship featuring bold, cutting-edge technology and awe-inspiring athleticism. The fan-centric, inshore racing takes place in some of the most iconic harbors around the globe and culminates with a $1 million winner-takes-all match race. Rival national teams from Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United States battle it out in identical supercharged F50 catamarans, engineered for intense racing at electrifying speeds exceeding 50 knots (nearly 60 mph).

Great coverage but the overlapping audio makes it tough to understand what is being said. I wish I could either hear the announcers or the competitors but not both at the same time.

Does Spithill ever win a race? Have watched the whole season and he hasn't won any races.

why is the helicopter allowed to fly upwind of the sail boats? seems like a possible aerodynamic nightmare to a even playing field for me. And when will the sailors get better protection. Getting wedged between two boats with almost no time to react. I would not wonder if there are some unnecessary deaths in the near future.

The audio is a mess. Unwatchable.

Well actually unlistenable... My proposal is that they put the boat feed in one channel and announcers in the other

Until now there is ETNZ defender, Ineos challenger of record, Prada and Alinghi, 3 challengers are too few: they have to play AC in Europe so other YCs would be easier to register .. moreover, I hope that this challenge Alinghi / Red Bull vs Ineos / Mercedes doesn't make racing even more like boring F1… anyway PRADA will always go to the final!

ETNZ had to travel to the other side of the world at great expense many times before they succeeded. Why should they give up that well earned advantage just to make it easier for challengers. The Americas Cup is unique in its history and prestige. If you want it, come and win it like everyone else has had to.

Why are we talking about the America's Cup? SailGP doesn't have hideously ugly monohulls and awful racing.

@@desmondcrosland7884 look that ETNZ cannot easily find an agreement with NZ government and therefore the first to propose AC options outside NZ are precisely the kiwis .. yes, AC should be played in the country of the defender but if they cannot find an agreement it is better done in Europe so there will be more Teams
@princepssenatus7607

@@seanomatopoeia we are talking about AC because it is the most important sailing event in the world and the match race is the real sailing! with all due respect these fleet regattas is just a great chaos: there is little tactics and little seafaring skill: it is just a very confusing speed race

No one can "AFFORD" an AC challenge. They are toys/trinketts for Billionaires and total wastes of money. It's the cost of design/build of the boats and the crew that make it unaffordable. NZ saves teams $ because of the exchange rate, CoL for the teams and their families and NZ has some of the worlds best boat building/Sailmaking Facilities. If you think it's cheaper to base a team in the Med for 6 months you're dreaming. Teams can pack up there entire bases into a dozen containers and relocate anywhere. The only reason ETNZ is offering the AC to other cities is to generate profits to fund ETNZ that doesn't have a Billionaire Principal like the other Three Teams. Besides Four Teams is plenty for AC. More than 6 is too many as there are never more than 4 teams with the resources to mount a serious challenge.
