Brilliant commentary from the late great Darryl Eastlakes, two great calls "He's a stepper this Ford", and "He does a bit of a boogie" Classic. And co commentator Jack Gibson once said of a Brisbane crowd during a state of origin " This mob would boo Santa Claus"
Great game, remember being about 12 and getting up about 4 in morning to watch it. Players like Lewis, Sterling ,Gregory, Hanley and Gill doing a boogie! The game doesn't seem to produce the characters anymore. Too robotic now!
Note the commentator Daryl Eastlake, the only unbiased commentator Australia ever produced. That's coming from a kiwi.He always showed enthusiasm for the opposition.
And, by the way, Gregory X2 plus Gill, Loughlin, Hanley et al were fantastic. And let's not forget Mal Reilly and Ray "The voice of Rugby" French. Thanks so much for uploading this vid.
Even thou Australia lost this test it was needed for the international game to see Great Britain win was good they needed it and for the fans back in the UK much needed plus with the odd win by the Kiwi's was good I'd now would like to see them win the odd series would be Eve better, just want to see teams like Tonga,Fiji,PNG,Samoa ,Cook Islands, Lebanon and France follow suit not just Against Australia but against each other and NZ and Great Britain as Wayne Bennett said the International game isn't Dead or Domainted by Australia,NZ and Great Britain. Loved the post try Dances by Martin Offaih, Henderson Gill and Elerey Handley.
It's such a shame 'cos no-one wants to piss on monuments; but even though he's a beloved Aussie RL icon, Jack Gibson commentates like a fucking sook in this one.
I think the Australians in this game really didnt care as they had won the first two and obliterated the English in the last one, so they really didnt care less!
At 1st glance you think the kangaroos effort was gutless horrible and feminine except it was the 3rd test and by that stage the aussies have retained the ashes
An Australian Side full of Queenslanders who couldn't and wouldn't tackle no guts or Australian pride. The small crowd told the story us Sydney Siders new what the result would be by the weak team that was picked.
