Thoughts exactly. Like in WW2 where Americas were so patriotic about their own nation that once Pearl Harbor was attacked recruitment skyrocketed. Why fight for something that you are not passionate about? Just watch. This will be added to "Toxic Masculinity" soon.
Former ADF and not only would I never go back I'd actively discourage my children from joining. 2020-2023 completely destroyed what little faith I still had in Australia, it's government and unfortunately the majority of it's people.
Yep, covid showed me that unfortunately Aussies are cowards and most of our "leaders" are Tyrants. I really wanted to believe that Aussies would say "jam your jab up your ass, I'll wear a mask if I want to" but instead the government applied a bit of pressure and threatened its own people and most people gave up their rights and let them.
Why many Whyte men are fleeing to SE Asia 🌏 These SE Asian nations should entice Australian men to join as Defence force auxiliarys or something like that..
The worse part is that if we did get invaded, white men would be the ones in the front line. And we would be guilted into doing all most dangerous things. Until its over and then back to business as usual.
I served 19 years. And loved it But why would anyone want to join to defend and serve a country. That our politicians sell out every single day. Maybe if our politicians had a back bone and stood by Australia and the defence more people would join. Our politicians carry on like children and the parliament house is nothing more than a day care centre.
Well said mate I whole heartedly agree , we are being sold out why sighne up to die for goverment who selling out our country our past diggers died for our freedoms , secondly many couldn’t handle the training and discipline , I think we need mandatory enlisting from 18 years old and up for a few years like other country’s do such as Israel , woman included , times have changed the world we are in now is on edge to the point of another ww I feel and I don’t think it’s far away , the leader we got has no back bone for our country , we need a proper strong leader and Albo is not it.
One of the big draws in Western nations towards military careers is defending their people from tyranny, many people in Australia, Ireland, Canada, America and the UK already feel like they're under tyranny so it makes no difference to them.
Which is the result of successful psyops campaigns from the 610 Office. I don't mind discussing this at length, as it's important; and I have knowledge and experience in this area.
@@adiintel1 You're clearly disconnected with aspects of reality. Imperialism is what China is doing by trying to expand its territorial limits, and putting secret police stations in other countries.
Provide the data to support your unsubstantiated claim. I know of no data whatsoever that supports your claim. In fact the opposite appears true. The US Military has studies that show there has no been effect on capability by introducing diversity. In fact when President Truman signed an executive order to integrate African Americans into the military post WWII the US gained significant capability. Your comment is bigoted stupidity.
As a veteran myself, l have to say why would any young man want to join the military, just to end up fighting for American multinationals, being forced to have unnecessary jabs.
What a ridiculous comment. As ex ADF myself, vaccinations were a regular part of Army life. I don’t think there was a year that went by when I wasn’t vaccinated for something. I very much doubt to authenticity of your comment.
1. Leadership is focused on appeasing Politicians through social engineering. 2. Lack of care or concern for the people currently serving. 3. Lack of care for people post separation. 4. Lack of realistic spending to meet operational contingencies and force progression with new tech and innovation. Why would you enlist when the current trend is how much we hate Australia and its values? We have stripped our nation of its identity and its pride.
Agree with everything here, the only things missing are in comments above this one, There's just a massive political problem in Australia and it's bled through into the military through decades of either peace or fighting insurgencies instead of rich and similar militaries.
Don’t bring us Kooris into it most of hate that woke shit too most of us even voted no it’s only the brain washed fuckwits in the cities making us look bad 😂
Get all the woke politicians and bureaucrats family’s to join up! Also the family’s of big businesses supporting the Agenda’s sons and daughter’s and let’s not forget the Aborigines who claim Australia 🇦🇺 surely it’s worth fighting for.
Then clearly you haven’t got a clue about patriotism. I served 35 years and served under both flavours of government. I served the people of Australia even happily defended your right to make such an idiotic comment you dimwit.
@adambrown3272 Exactly, my personal political opinions were never a consideration. I served my country, not the Labor party, or the Greens, or the Nationals. This dimwit hasn't got a clue, I doubt even if they are Australian.
The calibre of our modern military leaders is sadly lacking. Essentially to progress past LT COL (or RAN /RAAF equivalent) they have to be politicians rather than soldiers. They have consistently failed to show leadership or to support the people under their command 🇦🇺☹️
@@rodiffinger7998 I did 30 years service (Army), and you my friend have hit the nail on the head. I was injured in a training accident, they fixed me up, then they treated me like I didn't exist.
Well said. When you are overseas serving your country and you think of home and why you are doing it, but then realise that you can’t even recognise your own country anymore… it’s not a good feeling.
Then let them join thr ADF then. Where are they? That's right they only after to screw Australia and rape it of what they can get. That's the reality
On leaving school, my son tried to sign up for the army. He had top grades at school and was doing two years ahead in maths. He was an athlete that represented Australia at youth world championships. He passed the army tests with top grades and was offered any job he wanted. He chose and was told due to only recruiting women at that time he would have to wait. Two years later he got sick of waiting and started an apprenticeship. He recently completed his apprenticeship and still hasn’t heard back. That should tell you everything.
Joining defence is a calling. I'm an Air Force veteran who now works as a transition coach. I love helping veterans in spite of ADF morale continuing to drop, and Canberra not valuing its serving members. Post transition, so many veterans are shocked at how the country they protected and preserved doesn't give a stuff about them, except me, I will always cherish my comrades ❤
@@howunacceptibleofme2145 I am a tiny cog in processing serving members out of the ADF into the civilian world. Depending on the member, I think the supports and advocacy could be better. Canberra and the member's chain of command have a lot to answer for IMO
@@highcountrydelatite Yes and no, I think it depends on where one lands. Speaking for myself, I go above and beyond to assist veterans and their loved ones BUT I have heard stories where what you say is very true
@@highcountrydelatite Yes, this sounds familiar. It's upsetting that this has been allowed to happen in the first place. It's very unfair and very shocking to say the least
I spent over 25 years in the ADF. What do I think of the direction we are going as a country? I’m leaving. I’m going to live in a country that appreciates me and is welcoming to everyone.
I never considered ever leaving Australia until all the covid BS, now I'm seriously considering it. All this anti Australian crap is making it a lot easier
Why would any young kid join up, when dogs go behind their backs and rat them out, I wouldnt let any of my children or grand children join the Australian Armed Forces.
The medics are good darts players. I lost count of how many jabs I had during basic training. Here I am at 58 still alive. Had my covid ones too. Still alive.
The ADF is not an attractive proposition for recruiting and retention in an economic environment where unemployment is quite low. The public inquiries into bullying, sexual assault, veteran suicide and homelessness have also brought the organisation into disrepute ☹️. Our politicians blithely send young Australian servicemen and women into danger, into conflicts that cannot be won and which have little relevance to the security of our country. We enter into these conflicts to curry favour with the American government and to protect the profits of multinational corporations. I am a veteran with 25 years service to our nation and am proud to have served but would not encourage young people to enlist in the current climate 🇦🇺
When the population you recruit from has been groomed by Government over decades to be terrified of guns, loud noises, the weather, getting yelled at and even their next door neighbours then our military is pretty well farked
This tends to happen every time a labor government controls parliament. I still remember John Howard stopping into the mess at Williamtown without any press or cameras just to say thanks... and I also remember the treatment of Rudd was like the Defence force kicked his dog.
Yeah but sending the military to get involved in immoral illegal wars based upon blatant lies doesn’t help either. Being the bad guys is not good for recruitment.
The main reason anyone takes a job is for money, career and the potential perks of the job. Advertising wokeness to try and interest a 0.5% segment of the population is pointless. Advertise for doctor training, nurse training, mechanic training, pilot license along with the military side is basic but it's also the reality of what is needed and what some soldiers will be doing.
Couldn't agree more! They need to focus on the reality of why people want to join the Armed Forces as well, which is not to hump sandbags around in flood affected areas or, as the latest Air Force ad shows, humanitarian assistance. Sure this is part of it but not what drives people to want to join the military in significant numbers.
Shouldn’t matter who’s in power at the time. Defending one’s country comes above partisan lines. I’m not even Australian and il 100% volunteer if this country I now call home needed defending.
@@mj_aussie_coaster_travels8310I'm bloody jack of so called Australians stateing that they wouldn't fight for an Albanese government.well your not and if your using that excuse then you might as well find another country to live in. Legalise weed and you will have me signing up as an fitter and turner working as a hydraulics tech for car manufacturers and all the other company's suppling them parts until 2016. If i can rebuild a concrete pumping truck and massive booms hydraulics, build custom cars and harleys in my spare time Then i can fix shit in a factory or on the front line for the defence force. Ive delth with some pretty serious ADHD growing up that brought on other issues as a toddler to young adult, Now im older the depression and social anxiety i had back then doesnt bother me and i use my ADHD to my advantage. If its something im interested in then im very focused on it. And i do love mechanical engineering and trying to problem solve or make machines better and more efficient. i just need to be able to turn my brain off at night and id prefer a bit of weed rather than a bunch of pharmaceuticals, doctors appointments and prescriptions..
@victorianhighcountry LOL If i can own guns legally in Australia like i do then i must be a real risk to society... I go to my local clay Pidgeon range and a friends property to shoot targets. ive never wanted to go or been hunting because id feel bad hurting and killing anything. i also dont drink alcohol which is a much more dangerous drug and cannabis. Guess if Australia goes to war ,ill just keep building custom cars and bikes and making good money doing it
Taking pride in our country can begin again with promoting "Australia Day" 🇦🇺 that would be an advantageous way to start. The old tune on TV'S across Australia was the " Come on Aussie, Come on, Come on"....Remember that one in the '70's and '80's... A NATIONAL PROMO is a no- brainer, imo... Encourage schools to invite local Diggers, service personnel into the schools to have conversations with Aussie kids, and in the High schools to inspire the younger generations... we NEED a government working to further our national protection, and security NOT throw the nation under the bus, or the sub potentially 😮🤔
Totally agree. The main ongoing priorities of a Government in Term is to bolster, improve, upgrade the military capabilities not sit on the fence.. Consecutive Goverments inactions since WW2 has resulted in a inadequate M.l....y that cannot fully protect its citizens or neighbors in the event of future potential of c.nfl.ct in our region. Its like history repeating itself.
Ask Angus Campbell, the CDF on a very large salary, why his soldiers sailors and airman opps sorry Aviators wouldn't want to affend anyone, are leaving in droves and not wanting their children or recommending the ADF as a career. It wasnt that long ago he was sprouting about diversity as the future to harness human capital, and hailing the end of the stero typical Australian soldier. Hows that working out, in any normal civilian job a senior manager who has failed so many times would be removed. Angus Campell the CDF of the ever shrinking DF.
About right, except now in most Australian civilian normal jobs senior managers who have failed many times are simply further promoted. Perhaps you are remembering an earlier time or simply have rose-tinted glasses.
You F%^king idiot. You have no idea on anything. What have gun laws got to do with the Australian Defence Force? You might find this hard to believe but our Army actually has guns you f%6king moron. You have got to be American. Only those dumb C^&ts could make a ridiculous statement like that.
Fairdinkum? You really need to think before you make a comment like this Louise. We have strict regulations for ownership on a civilian basis, yet there are more firearms owned by the public now than there ever has been before, including prior to the introduction of those restrictions. If you think our military restricts the use of firearms relative, my guess is you also believe that the earth is indeed flat.
The ADF need to allow more homesteading so ADF members families have more stability. Being in the ADF is very hard on families having to move town every 2 years for each posting. In Sweeden I think it is, a person will join a squadron or unit and stay there at the one base for 20 years. Families don't like moving constantly and that's why ADF personnel are leaving.
My daughter served in the ( family friendly ) navy for 7 years, 7 weeks after having her first child they told her she was being posted to sea, she said " see ya".
So the ADF changed policy years ago. 3 years postings and back to back in location so potentially 6 years in the same location. This was at least the policy when I got out in 2017. Army first family second. I accepted this when I joined and yes my family suffered, suck it up. It’s called sacrifice.
@@stevewiles7132 Yes the Navy suffered badly when most shore based support roles were civilianised. Very difficult for young families I totally agree. My understanding is the Navy has learned from this and try as much as they can to give sailors some relief from constant ship postings, but it is very hard to manage.
I am interested by the current Navy ads. One features a whole bunch of women doing a whole bunch of things outside the job. The other shows a woman handing a kid a hat on a beach. I am not sure how many women join up to do other things or hand out clothing. I don’t understand why the Navy does not glorify and promote the job and their tech - it is what traditionally works.
The military has to be rebuilt from the ground up, the current system of officers running the show because they have some pathetic degree is a cancer that needs to go. On top of that, morale is crippled from stuffing people around, so nobody wants to stay in. Third, what is the benefit you get compared to a normal job, money isn’t that great, you have to move to towns far from home and come out with injuries that take forever to go through a shoddy DVA process to prove you have said injuries that relied on doctors keeping all your paperwork. Yeah, fail to see the problems here…
Imagine having your military leadership not only announce the day of attack and the location, they also put it all on social media and make a short film about the operation months ahead. They execute the operation to be surprised why they were wiped out. Sound familiar? Ukraine counter offensive maybe? I would not trust any leadership in Australia in general.
I have multiple children serving in the ADF. I feel the issue is leadership. ADFA should be scrapped as a broken system. That elitist process doesn’t create leaders of quality who understand their people. A clean out of senior leadership is also needed - by every metric they are failing. There are more rank than diggers now which also tells a story. And the organisation is poorly run - soldiers not treated well with a supporting system of suppliers all about making a margin. Fundamentals like awful food, facilities from the 1970s, training with broken equipment (if there is enough equipment). If it was a corporate you would completely reset it all. That isn’t going to happen because the leadership will always take care of its own and the govt won’t spend the money. So defending our country is left to those who still commit, wake up everyday and train and train for the worst of times.. and would step in as soon as asked… without little support from anyone. We should all be embarrassed and thanks Erin for continuing to raise the issue.
I was in it and in infantry and loved it and served overseas for Aust.......im just sad i got old, but boy it was the best time with mates and free medical dental super ...pity they age hasnt increased to re join...just in 40's....but it depends on the person and how proud they are..thats the problem...
@documentarydetectiveiii5217 true....i never could understand the OHS bullshite , but you can go over and shoot guns..did my head in..lol go figure...if they cant get the recruits, then they need to develop and improve the machinery instead of wasting money on useless products... ADFI - means when we were there ...Another Defective Item
No wonder - when DEI and correct “pronouning” is of far more importance than the care and proper training of “combat ready troops” in all services (and ESPECIALLY the care of Veterans who return wounded both mentally and physically) - how can that be surprising ?
If there’s nothing wrong with the helicopters, why won’t The PM give them to Ukrainian. One can only allege the PM has aligned Australia with China, Russia, Iran and Nth Korea?
@@winstonsmith7801does your god blesses murder, rape and killing of innocent children, women and men because that is exactly what Russia did for hundreds of years, doing now and will do. You should seriously rethink your religion.
Of course they will but will then be a bad look for Australia if another country gets them working, especially in combat, after all the $billions spent so we can't have that now can we🤷♂️ burying the problem is literally the least embarrassing option😂
And that is exactly it Buck, it was a career, no longer, everything is outsourced to contractor's, career paths are non existant, and of course actual equipment is nothing inspiring in getting the interest of people to actually join !!
What a joke. My son wanted to go into the army but after countless interviews over the phone ,they said he wasn't suitable. He's has an apprenticeship now. If they came looking when there was a war I'd tell them to bugger off.
Recruiters should heavily focus on indigenous recruitment. They're the ones who always shout proudly that this is ''MY LAND!'' , time for them to back that up and actually fight for it.
follow up psychological care is seriously lacking with a drastic rise in veteran suicides... service, and values and blah blah, basic care is lacking for return service personnel, overly encouraging for recruitment... I sometimes think the raising of university fees has to do with encouraging people to join the defence force, more so for the US, but it feels like a global push towards service with the rise in people attending university...
The ADF has spent 5 years eating its own Victoria Cross winning heroes, Special Forces and Commandos. We talked our daughter and our 2 nephews out of joining for that very reason. There are 100 Generals and 40,000 administrators for 60,000 personnel. The ADf refuses to support Ukraine and advocates not sending 48 out of service Taipans, refuses to send any of the 1,000 Hawkei’s (an Highway certification issue), and has 1,200 Bushmasters sitting in car parks, all of which should be sent to Ukraine today. Build new in Australia to replace them. Shut it down and turn off the lights.
If the government didn’t destroy the country from within, we’d have a country worth fighting for. I sincerely hope we’re not doomed, but I think it’s too late.
I left school in year nine did an apprenticeship and eventually had a successful fifteen year career becoming an executive chef running and leading large hotel kitchen brigades. After 15 years i decided on a career change and tried to join the navy a few years ago .. except i was rejected because I had not passed year 10 . They told me at the age of 32 i needed to go back to school and do year ten or v.c.e to be accepted..
I wouldn't want to join at the moment, no freedom left to defend after how Australia Gov and state handled Covid in my opinion. Compared to 2013 when I did to want to join after working as a civilian at ADF Duntroon.
A huge start would be to accept EVERYONE with an IQ over 85 who applies. Even last year I was hearing that as little as 35% of applicants were being accepted....preposterous! A lot of $$ is being spent on big-ticket future equipment, but not enough is being spent on recruitment of personnel and training. We should be heading for a regular force size of 150,000 across the 3 services. Add the same benefits to the Reserves and you'll see ex-regulars happily join up. A GDP spending regime in our current circumstances should be around 3.5% if we want be serious.
@victorianhighcountry why the hell would I join the military. Given how I look, I would not get promoted but would be seen as cannon fodder for the front line. While incompetent waman get promoted based on gender alone. And the same waman would never see the front line or any danger at all. ANY male would be CRAZY to join the aus military.
After getting back from Afghanistan I could handle losing all my money in the divorce. The hardest part was not seeing my kids for 7 years and only now do i see them 2 days a fortnight. Thank you Australia for the child support payments.
strange that, a few months ago the US was in the same situation, begging for people to enlist & then all of a sudden Governor Durbin announced they were hiring thousands of migrants & would fast track their citizenship if they served the country, he announced this at a presser so the video is easy to find
Australia, you're going to need recruits real soon. Id advise the Australian government to bring in national service or you will regret it. A lot is happening now
when you are aware that the ADF is the most ill equipped and the lowest government funded agency, you would think twice about joining, and to think they want to recruit non-Australians just shows how low the ADF standards are, not only does Australia need better technology and hardware but we also need manpower,
