Like 99% of people commenting on Port Arthur, you don't mention that Barry Unsworth, then NSW Premier, said in 1988, that there will never be uniform gun control in Australia, until there is a massacre in Tasmania, because Tasmania had their own state laws and the Feds didn't like not having total control. Apart from the fact that the gun Bryant had supposedly used, had been handed in to the Victorian Police, 18 months earlier. How did it get to Bryant's hands from the Victorian Police? Ask those questions if you've got the balls to dig deep enough. And a lot bloody more than these need answering.

FFS, PLEASE stop calling them "weapons". They're firearms. A weapon is something that is used to inflict harm on another person, and firearms in the hands of legal owners ARE NOT USED FOR THIS PURPOSE. A car is a weapon, if used to cause harm, or a pen knife, or a cricket bat, or harsh words, for crying out loud. Almost anything is a weapon EXCEPT a legally utilised firearm. The term is emotive, and used by the very authorities who's objective is to disarm the entire populace for their own dissociated reasons, so please stop playing into their hands by using ridiculous terminology for a legal firearm ! You are not helping our cause at all . . . . . .

Interesting information, Makes me appreciate living in Arizona, I think there are more AR15's and AK'47s in the state of Arizona then there are people. Then there is open and concealed carry, 50% of gun owners carry no licence needed Yet no daily gun fights....go figure! The only limits here are full auto and silencers , both just require money and paperwork and a wait! I have owned AKs ARs ,RPK SKS, all the evil rifles....over the years I've sold them all and now just love and shoot my CZ 455 lux .22WMR and Henry Lever action .22WMR LOL I am wanting another 20 inch "Old School" AR15 A3.

What bugs me is that a lot of the gun laws that existed prior to 1996 seems like a distant memory to a lot of people from that time there was state legislation surrounding guns prior to 1996 that has literally just disappeared from public view, even people I know from that time who were heavily into hunting/guns can only recall bits and pieces of what it was like. The collective mind wipe is so real that The gun section at Kmart is what most old heads can come up with when talking about it.

Those 1996 laws were installed due to the complete and utter incompetence of the Tasmanian police force, why do you think there were secrecy clauses put on the court evidence. The police force knew Martin was using firearms illegally , many complaints were made about him, and how did his father die? Well you might want to ask the police their thoughts on that.. the baby grand piano in the house he lived in was full of ammunition ,,, total incompetence on the police that he wasn’t charged years before the massacre

Most states already had reasonable gun laws in place before 1996 except QLD and Tassy because they were the safest states in Australia. Gun laws are made by the states but in line with media hysteria and blackmail all states agreed to implement a Federal standard in 1996 which some states have made more extreme overtime. Most of our population lives in cities on the coast so most of our politicians are city based coastal people who don't hunt or shoot. Our NSW police minister did not even know what a semi auto centre fire was nor did most poltiicians. They are automatic guns with high velocity exploding bullets that expand to the size of a dinner plate that no one needs to own (that's the media version). Overnight two thirds of Australia's trained riflemen were eliminated by the Prime Minister. It's not the gun licensing laws that cause the problem it's the gun control laws that allow rediculous over regulation. The licensing part allows me to own possess and use my S&W 686 for shooting targets but the gun control part makes it illegal for me to use it as a side arm when hunting feral pigs. There is no sensible justification for that. It is legal for me to shoot paper but gun control makes it illegal to shoot an Orange. The 5 standards are. 1. Categories A,B,C,D,H,R. 2. Genuine Reason to support category. 3. 28 day waiting period for licence application 4. Safe Storage and police inspections. 5. Registration of all firearms. Those who owned class1 and 2 firearms but could not satisfy the new categories were paid to hand in LISTED guns for compensation and could use it to buy new guns to fit there new category. Buyback guns did not have to be functional and Slug guns, bolt actions and break shotguns were not compensated for but were counted in media figures as guns handed in under the buyback scheme.

The use of OnLine licensing and PTA has improved in Queensland to Direct to Dealer PTA ( no reliance on Mail). Also, Dealers have now online Reporting of Transactions ( Form 10) and Register ( F16) rather than the Pen and Paper previously. Armourers ( Gunsmiths) and Theatrical Ordnance Suppliers ( TOS), both "Commercial Licences" can handle/ possess Cat R ( Machineguns)...the TOS for Blank Firing Adaptation, the Armourer for Manufacture, Repair Fitting Blank attachments, and Deactivation or Sectioning for Display Guns. In Qld, with the Correct Licence, one can own, or manufacture any Class of Firearm . BtW, a Dealer Cannot handle Cat R without a Specific Ministerial Exemption ( I know of only ONE at present.) With the improved Amnesty Rules, Dealers can accept Unregistered Firearms for Registration to Owner,, for Registration and Onward Sale, or Surrender for Destruction ( No compensation). Surrender to Police Station will result in eventual Destruction, No Compensation. Better to surrender to Dealer, get Value, and Onward sale. Pretty Good Video, well Laid Out. I am so very glad I was born here in the USA. I am all for background checks and responsible ownership, mental fitness and don’t much care for any more restrictions than we experience now. The far left liberal terrorists here seem to be the most uninformed individuals in the world and are always trying to impose more restrictions. In the state of Virginia last month they were trying to modify the second amendment of our constitution which is the right to bear arms. These people are unbelievable and absolutely relentless. They want you to live in fear so that you are easier to manipulate with fear. Some things about gun control laws I can see good in but taking away guns from good solid people isn’t one of them and the government and criminals will be the only ones able to defend themselves in the end. I’m Ex military and have seen what can happen first hand to people who can’t defend themselves and their families. I feel we need decades of pro gun rights politicians in office to fix this and more educated people about these issues. Good subject very informative. Thank you. I hope that your government will lift some of their goofy restriction for you and the rest of responsible owners in you country.

Decent video as ever mate. I think the idea that the restriction of firearms hasn’t prevented massacres is skewing it a bit though. Think back to the Lindt cafe siege. The perpetrator was only able to access a shotgun, and I think it’s safe to say that the number of casualties was kept low as a result, compared to if semi auto had been available - although I admit that it’s hard to say for sure. Likewise, look at the most recent attempted terror attack in my home of Melbourne. A couple of people were stabbed to death, but in the end the police were able to contain the attacker. I can only imagine the numbers of casualties had that guy had access to guns. There are things about our firearms laws that frustrate the heck out of me when it comes to practicing my hobby, but for the most part, I fully support them. Your video gives me the idea that you have pretty similar views. Thanks for the time you put into this one 👍
@meatheadmarksman2013
@meatheadmarksman2013 5 лет назад
I agree with you, in the video I said it hasn't stopped mass killings but has definatly scaled them down when they involve firearms. The arson attacks and vehicle attacks still have significant death tolls comparable to mass shootings previous to 1996. I think in the case of the cafe siege that evil prick wanted attention more then a high death toll, but the most important take away from that one was it was an illegal shotgun anyway, so as per usual murders and terrorists are not super fussed about the guns classification lol but I do agree that the scale is certainly smaller with firearm related massacres

@@meatheadmarksman2013 Because of the Mass shooting that just happened Here in Nova Scotia. I live in the same province it happened in. The guy was a true nut bar> he was already banned from owning firearms because of mental instability. All his firearms were smuggled in from the USA. 1500 firearms are now banned in Canada. Over half of them were already on the restricted license list and a whole bunch of ones that were already banned/prohibited. Anti-tank rifles, mortars, RPGs, grenade launchers, missile launchers. You know stuff you can only get from a black market dealer. In Canada we have Non Restricted which is your a,b,c, everything else looks scary so its restricted. Some handguns are still restricted and available for restricted license holders. But since the new ban came it to effect on Friday we have basically have a very small restricted category now. They might have a grandfather clause where you may keep the banned firearms but they will needed to be taken to an authorized place and have it decommissioned

We banned pump shotguns because they are really intimidating in the movies. Always remember that politicians are far more concerned with being seen as "doing something to solve the problem" than actually fixing a problem. Check out the QLD VLAD laws for a prime example of getting rid of the criminal bikie gangs by effectively just forcing them to no longer wear colours or riding in groups and freezing some assets. What really happened was they now just use plain clothes ans cars to blend in and those that had gone legit and worked as tradies had to choose between family and their legal income. Next to zero criminals went to jail and no major operations of these groups were disrupted.

@meatheadmarksman2013
@meatheadmarksman2013 4 года назад
If you want a pistol you have to have a category H licence which is a giant pita to get, takes about a year and you have to attend the prescribed safety courses and a bunch of range visits have to be logged, which is all fun and games but in this country if it was always close at hand so you could used it for self defence the court system would almost certainly see that as premeditated use of a weapon. In Australia your supposed to call the police and let the intruder kill you while you wait lol
@SurmaSampo
@SurmaSampo 4 года назад
Although you can use a weapon including a gun for defense against an equal level of force (i.e. an armed assailant) you can not own or carry a weapon for that purpose. The pistol has to be in a safe, unloaded with the action clear and "open" with the ammunition stored in a separate locked container. The likelyhood that you actually need a gun for self defense is actually extremely low even in low socioeconomic areas unless you are a drug dealer and get into fights with other criminals (or you live in Victoria and win the Victorian police hit squad lottery).

Do you think that would be allowed? Also how would taking something like that out for hiking or fishing trips work legally? If you want to hunt on state owned land you must have permission from whoever is leasing that state land. You can't just carry a gun while your out hiking in Australia, unfortunatly you'll get arrested. Thinking of also joining a shooting club here in the UK in case I don't get another job back in paradise that is QLD. I had been thinking of getting a FX Impact in .25 calibre, but as it requires a license in the UK and the price of it, I was told you might as well just get a centre fire rifle and be done for the price you intend to pay for an Impact. Just recovering from a broken shoulder at the moment so that was another reason I started looking at the 6.5 Creedmoor calibre on the Tikka A1Tac as it is reportedly less of a kick back than a 308. @@Elfin4 theres basically no way for the average person in Australia to own a silencer or moderator. The only people who can have them are professional shooters who get income from pest control and can demonstrate/prove a requirement for it. This is possibly the stupidest rule of them all... but if you want a quiet rifle your basically limited to long barreled 22lr and airguns - you still can have a supressor but you can choose quiet ammo or tune the airgun to shoot quietly
@15woody20
@15woody20 5 лет назад
@Elfin4 an FX Impact will only require an FAC in the UK if its muzzle energy exceeds 12ft/lbs. Feasibly you could have a sub 12ft/lb .25 calibre Impact but you wouldn’t be getting anything like the rifle’s true potential. Sub 12ft/lbs in .22 or .177 would give you a really useful piece of equipment though. Also, I’m laughing heartily at the idea of decent coffee in Queensland! A very funny joke, that! *edited for typos*
@Elfin4
@Elfin4 5 лет назад
@@15woody20 Unfortunately to have a an Impact in .25 calibre the Impact requires to be a FAC weapon. They don't do a .25 in sub 12ft/lb. Agree it is a very impressive and accurate airgun, but when considering the price in the UK it is virtually the same price as a Tikka T3X A1 TAC centre fire rifle. So you could just be getting a Centre Fire rifle for the same money. Also some ranges won't allow airguns with a .25 calibre so then you are restricted to where you can shoot and that may prohibit the actual FAC being granted.

Everything is regulated. You can get semi auto 22 if you are a cat c licences holder, which is not most people because you just be a primary producer or pest controller to get it. Handguns are "cat h" licence with length minimum length restriction on barrels and magazine capacities, also must attend a certain amount of range shoots per year to keep tge licence, annoyingly difficult to get a hand gun

Meathead Marksman the strange part to me is that before I really got into guns, this was just a few years back. I remember talking to my best friend Asking him... - Dont you think the government should take away “assault weapons.” He’d ask, what is that? I wouldn’t have an answer. -dont you think people should stop at owning only maybe 7 guns. No more? He’s ask why? I wouldn’t have an answer. Now I completely understand the danger of restriction, as there is no way to ban murder. There are laws that prohibit it. Yet people will never stop. And if you ban knives, they’ll use ropes. If you ban ropes they’ll use etc... Same with guns, if laws prohibit them, people will still break those same laws that say don’t murder or assault someone. Limiting the guns for criminals doesn’t really work here as there is a very large black marker from Mexico. Idk maybe it would work. Also, no pump action shotgun? That is like home defense 101 in the states. That is quite bizarre. Maybe going down to a 20 gauge as the largest shot, but requiring what actions? Break open? Double barrel? Better than nothing I suppose. I absolutely LOVE white sharks, and rays, and the reefs and fish. I’ve always wanted to see Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, the Outback itself. What an amazing country.

Meathead Marksman if your talking about like a registry system I don’t agree with that either registries have known to end up in criminals hands making it a potential “shopping list” for bad guys....New Zealand abolished there registry so did Canada it was proven to not be effective against fighting crime....after a firearm is stolen it would most likely have the serial numbers removed and how many crimes have been solved by having a registry?? New Zealand has a more stricter process in place in applying for your gun license, a lot of licensed people support New Zealand’s system...the funny part to all this is that lol New Zealand was offered to implement Australias gunlaws it was projected to be proven not to work...in lamen terms Australian gunlaws have not worked the way it was supposed to...New Zealand “politely” declined having a system replicating Australian gunlaws

The purpose of a registry is to aid in the tracing of firearms that have been used in crimes and the likelyhood of criminals getting access to it a pretty fucking next to zero. It serves much the same purpose as a car registry and combined with strict border controls on cargo and the requirement for the secure storage of firearms the next effect is a massively reduced availability of illegal forearms. The largest supply chain of illegal firearms in most developed countries is by theft of legal firearms which when restricted pushes up prices on the black market making them less available for crime in general. PTA's are a waste of time and money with a ridiculously high error rate. That part of the process could have just been fully automated and in QLD isn't even required if you are trading in a rifle of the same caliber and action at a dealer.

System is the problem 🏡 Our Life should be around these Great Qualities..... 1, Show all living creatures; all the love and kindness as much as you can. 2, Only try to be honest with yourself. If you try to be honest with others, you will get into big trouble soon or later. 3, Aim only one target at a time; otherwise you are chasing two rabbits and you will miss both. So, the reason behind it. Have one powerful reason and never ever give up the one you want the most. 4, Don't try to be good person only but be the powerful person. We will grow to be the one or we will die. There is no other choice. 5, Always learn and look for to improve something your life. 6, You are not alone. Love and faith the high power reduces unnecessary stress in life. But never completely rely on it. 7, Success and happiness are the byproducts of our usefulness. So, always increase the possibility of success. 8, Life is not going to be easy. Because of our unnecessary things. Eliminate all the unnecessary things as much as you can by organising yourself well with the environments. 9, Never believe anything without the proper evidences. 10, Always try to give more than you take. Because it is dignity/ character of the divinity within you. 🌎 As long as people continue to see themselves as separate from everything else, they lend themselves to being completely enslaved. Success depends on how well we relate to everything around us. Joy comes from that bliss of connectedness. I believe that unarmed truth and love will have the final word in reality. To love; you should have good heart. I am a good person until I see a person better than my standard of goodness. Being good is the progress towards a worthy cause. Love is God. Whoever lives in love, lives forever. How selfish it is to try to keep something forever? Love is all about nourishing, nurturing, sharing and expanding the love within you for all. The principle to which we adhere to is that we have kindness of love at heart for the whole of mankind. As long as there is the unnecessary differences within us; we can not live peacefully so we have to eliminate all the unnecessary differences among us so we can love all. People abilities may vary but not there true love. If we love a person/ God for a reason then we love the reason but not the person. No reason is the reason to love the person because true love never fails. So do not compare or measure the true love as first or the last but love all truly. If you love people truly then you can understand people. If you don't love then you don't understand people at all. People are controlled by system why? The Cyclical Consumption is the current economy all over the World. It is making the scarcity problems of the earth finite resources to deteriorate day by day. Current Monetary System is legalised theft. Real money is Gold and Silver. Scarcity gives the money more value. Real money won't lose it's value. When Governments stay away from Gold & Silver then very easy to transfer the wealth / resources to upper class the Rich (Corporatocracy) Elite. When the Governments are printing out more new fiat currency with reserve banks, our old currency is losing its purchasing power everyday. They are printing millions of currency everyday. All governments and laws are existing right now to transfer wealth to upper class the rich elite. The USA Government & other Governments are in many countries, bailed the investment banks & financial institutions in 2008 against the majority of the people. There is no democracy in any countries. Because of the Money System based on profits motive only above all else even humans lives and well-being. So, we do not have freedom to protect our values with the money so on. The violence, bankruptcy & all the negativities are build into the Monetary System of our society. All are owned (including ourselves) by Reserve Bank. Which is private cartel the corporation. So, in legal system, we are legally considered as chattel the properties. They make money in the capital markets with our birth certificates. They do not consider us as Humans. That's the truth. We are at the invisible war with the Elites (Corporatocracies). We have to fight for our Freedom. Resource Based Economy is the Solution. We have to declare the earth resources as the heritage of all the people of this world. So everyone has access to it. Please have your research about zeitgeist movement then you know the truth more. Truth About Health/Drugs Industry Because Of It Your Life At High Risk The drug industry is a 1/2 trillion dollars a year worldwide conglomerate. Almost 300 billions dollars just in North America. That is really big business. What would happen if everyone were well? There is no money in health. You see, good health makes a lot of sense but it doesn't make a lot of dollars. Because everything they do is toxic. Every drug they use, prescription drugs, all drugs are liver toxic, bar none. If you've had amalgam fillings put in your mouth by dentists. It is highly toxic. There's cancer because most of the chemos are themselves carcinogens. To view the tumor as the cancer and we know the tumor is not the cancer. The cancer industry is 200 billions dollars a year. The more work they get, the more profit there is. You have to dismantle; If the truth ever came out about what we would need to do. 30% of people of females in America are at risk of getting, will get cancer of the breast. The ones that are already dead have been grossly mistreated by the medical profession and by the government that supposedly is supposed to encourage free research and development of all possibilities. Why would medical doctors who studied medicine and practice medicine and are heavily funded by pharmaceutical companies why would they go and look into vitamins? That they never had the answer orthomolecular. And as more and more of our population start taking their health into their own hands, there's going to be even more and more of changes. It can't go on the way it is. The system is failing apart. We must make nutrition the primary prevention strategy for the population. You are what you eat. You are everything that you have ever done to yourself. The choices you make directly affect the outcome of your life. - (Food Matters Documentary in Netflix) 😊 Well, I truly love God. I am not religious but very spiritual person. So, I believe 1) Religion is the beliefs in someone experiences But spirituality is having my own experiences. The mainstream religions people promote religious ideology by giving guidelines and guide but In my spiritual life; I do not want anyone or anything between God and me to restrict my freedom to worship God. 2) We do not need any authorities to do good work. The god work is the good work always. In contrast; organised mainstream religions are claiming that they have the authorities to do God works as leaders so on. 3) God is not capable of doing wrong thing, change the past for us and create anything out of nothing for us. Nothing means not anything. So, even God is limited. The mainstream religious people believe that God is unlimited. 4) God wants us to take responsibilities for our righteousness life but not for all the consequences of our actions because they are continued to exist among us. So, How can god punish us for all our consequences? The mainstream religious people believe we are full of sins because of all our actions. 5) Freewill is an illusion. People always choose the perceived path of greatest pleasure. So, we do not have choices all the time. In contrast teachings of the mainstream religions are promoting people to do god's will always because we all have choices of freewill always. 6) We can not separate everything into groups. So, everything for good and evil and there's no success and failure for everything. If everything is real then real things can not be threatened. Once you come to understand that God/The Holy Spirit is in each of us, You will no longer need a Book to tell you how to live. Then why we need religious scriptures? The Virtue is the expression of the basic goodness in our actions. The Basic goodness is the fundamental worthiness of every individuals. We are worthy to God always in everything. 7) Beliefs in a cruel God makes a cruel man. No matter what; every living creatures has the right to live and What makes their life cheap? Everything depends on everything. Nothing too big or too small in value. We can not love and hate at the same time; Being a vegetarian means love without cruelty happily. The mainstream religious people are killing people and sacrificing animals in the name of God. They promote God's cruel punishments. The Punishment is endless for Sinners/Devil according to religious scriptures. But God is love always. Overcome hate with love. If all religions for peace, unity? No way. Because they are not for peace. 8) Well, The God gave us everything to go from moment to moment in our lives as we do our part and pray only to thank god then the Love is in progress. The Love is always for everyone. We are always worthy of the God's love. Our greatest fear is; not to be loved by anyone but we are all loved by someone. When we eliminate all our unnecessary differences among us then true peaceful life is possible with the true love. If we can't find the peace within ourselves then we will never find it anywhere else. 9) This is the Fight for independence and freedom of humanity to worship God freely without religious guide and guidelines to restrict us. Unnecessarily, We do not want third party controls over us in anything ; especially in spirituality. 10) Revive Survive Thrive. @@meatheadmarksman2013 Well at least you have a good viewpoint on what the laws should be. Most gun owners here in the US wouldn't have a problem with required training and proving you had secure storage. I think that's important, as does every gun owner I know. I have a major problem with registration and licensing. The only reason to register anything is for later restrictions and confiscations. Licensing is simply a revenue stream. Once you prove you're not a criminal by passing a background check, went through a safety course, have secure storage, and if necessary show all that when purchasing, I don't think there should be any further red tape anywhere. When Americans are watching videos about laws like yours, and for example UK laws, some say that will never happen here, but it already has and is getting worse. One point you made was about the different areas in Australia having different laws...we have 50 states with different laws, and when you go on a road trip across states and want to bring a gun for hunting or self defense it's a complicated mess that a law abiding citizen shouldn't have to worry about.
