I live in Australia and been here for the past decade. I can tell you 100 percent that this is how most athletic Australians begin their day with an Australian Half Fry. In fact , since 2004, Cricket Australia Board has made this the official breakfast of the cricket team before every big day. For test matches, they add an extra egg. And the players admittedly love the taste of the burp in their mouths this produces as they expend their energy on the field! Players aren’t allowed to change the recipe. Cricket Australia Board appoints chefs that are entrusted with just the live egg counter in the designated hotels Australian cricket team stays in. Hats off to this guy to share the recipe and offer the taste of Australia - a healthy brekky - to Indians. This is how Australia smells in the morning - Strayan Half Fry , they call it. PS - it was Damien Martyn who first ate Egg Ghotala before his remarkable knock of 114 at Nagpur test in 2004, and he took the recipe with him back home and popularised in the Sheffield shield. Since then, the recipe has become the quintessential brekky in the domestic and international turf. The only difference is most Aussies (except cricketers) sandwich the wet half fry between the folds of thick cut white bread slice with a spread of either the classic tomato sauce or Vegemite. It’s common to also cool the palate with a piece of Lamington. White bread isn’t allowed for players until post-match recovery meal.
